Nicely done. having been there and going again this weekend in my GT4, really looking forward to it. You've really done a great job on the line and an amazing time. Your video will be a great source of education for me. Im waaaay slower. Damn!
That 2:15.7 is excellent, the Road legal production car lap record at COTA is 2:17.49 McLaren P1. Yes, it's a legal production car but nevertheless the effort that most of gone into putting that lap and resources. You should be proud of your our lap. I have a BMW S1000RR track bike and I going to really try to get a good lap in July. I've been at COTA 3 times but didn't use a timer and have no reliable video but if I can lap under 2:30 I'll be really stoked.
+Juris S. Žagars Thanks! It was my first time at the track and theres probably a couple more seconds there but I was very happy to be in the 15s. The P1 must have hit some insane speeds on the straight!
Really fast and great driving. One thing I noticed was seat moves around a lot; but its hard for me to tell is the seat moving or just the containment section of halo flexing. Something i'll be sure to check when i'm done building my setup.
Isn't the longitudinal G-meter reversed? It's going down when braking. Anyway, outstanding laps, even more being done in a manual. I did a 2:31.5 in an AMG GT-R (during the AMG Academy), but nowhere near the level of skill shown in this video. It's much bumpier nowadays: T2-3, T9-10, T17-18, so there's my disclaimer for going 6s slower than the instructor in 2018. :P
Thanks. It is basically the same as a regular gt3 engine in principle, but most of the parts inside are different. Big solid lifter cams, big titanium valves, individual throttle bodies, high compression pistons, etc.
Reminds me of my lawn tractor where the only way to drive a straight line is to keep pointing it back to where you mean to be going. In the lawn tractor's case, I think the bushings and bearing are the problem. I have to wonder if his technique just reflects a lot of familiarity with his car. I was pretty perplexed by it at first, but the lap times and lines seemed to support his technique.
+SuLRaC check your facts www.gt3r.com they made a couple in 1999 and then about 50 in 2000. the name then changed to gt3rs in 2001 and rsr in 2004. they brought back the gt3r name with the 997 in 2010.
sulrac. this is a factory racecar, and that is the right name. its a very rare car and the history and lineage is well known to those that follow Porsche race cars , you are not looking very intelligent here.
Impressive driving. However, my inner track geek is crying seeing how much time you're coasting. That right foot needs to be doing something all the time -- throttle, brake, or both, never neither.
Nope. Modulating throttle through a turn is very important, even if it means coasting for a little. Look at Bathrust onboards for example (many of the first turns leading up the mountain require coasting)
jfbeam I’m going to disagree here too. This isn’t a kart. Indoor karting sure, but here you needs to allow the car to carry speed without input and set up for some of these corners. This video is amazing, it looks like the car wants to oversteer so much ALOT! I wonder what can be done about the setup. I personally wouldn’t want to fight it so much on the S’s....
I'ma disagree here, too. Not because I have better skills, but because there is a separate video of a pro going through this track and he spent a surprising amount of time without brake or throttle applied. My own style is more like the way you describe it, but I am seriously considering if I have been over thinking it and leaving seconds on the track by trying too hard, given the fact that the pro coasted through turns I am usually either braking or hitting the gas (or both). It is such a gift to see other ways of doing things and getting to think about whether it's better or not better, based on the results. jfbeam, try it both ways, and see how it works for you, in your car.
There’s a difference between coasting and maintenance throttle, which is needed in parts of turns 3 thru 8, unless maybe you’re in a F1 car, or a Miata. 😉
"NO MISTAKES" What an amazing vehicle and superb driving!!! Thanks for sharing these laps!
you sure, can and demonstrate why an h-pattern manual sports car is the most engaging of all with a skilled driver behind the wheel. awesome!
I love this sound, I could hear that all day long 😁🏎
Great lap. Thanks for showing me where are the braking points and proper racing lines. Now I will use this newfound knowledge at Assetto Corsa.
Such buttery downshifts!!
A round steering wheel. Manual trans. Traction at the back.
HELL YES
Great driving, looked like a lot of fun and work!
YOU ARE THE MAN. I want that car and that driving skill so badly! Great video

I really enjoyed the video excellent driving
Fast car! Fast Driver! Very well done!
This is DRIVING - well done!
Awesome driving! What an awesome car too. Love that heel toe!
Nice laps :D its awesome to watch the throttle and break use :) it gives me a better understanding of the turns and the car.
This track is truly amazing!! Can’t Waite Waite for next track day! Amazing driving btw!
One of my favorite track vids. Great driving, fast shifts.

Bravo. Killed it. Is your heel/toe that good, or is there an auto-blipper? The downshifts are just crazy fast.
Thanks! No auto-blipper or anything.
Enjoyed the video, I just rode COTA this weekend on my GXSR600. Its a first rate track and I cant wait to go back!

Great video man. I was looking for something like this to prevent riding the throttle and the brakes and eating tyres. Great skills!
Fantastic driving!!

Thank you so much for this, Im going to hit that 2:15 now.
Amazing video. 2.15 is a great time!! Is this engine based on the regular gt3? What are the differences? The high revs are amazing.
Thanks. It is basically the same as a regular gt3 engine in principle, but most of the parts inside are different. Big solid lifter cams, big titanium valves, individual throttle bodies, high compression pistons, etc.
Looks scary because you can't see the exit on a lot of those turns because they are so damn long.
Sweet Machine. Nice run
hell yea
true, those turns at COTA are not great for picking lines out of them. You did very good in that light.
I want to do this in my GT350.
very nice driving, man ;)
Outstanding driver shiiiiiiit
Loved the video. May I ask what software that is shows the instruments and all?
Thanks. It's called "Race Render"
Мой любимый самый лучший пилот в мире Алексей Ромашкин Мой
Great driving, but the track layout on the steering wheel is best :)
I was gonna ask about that. Is that superstition? Or habit? Or do you refer to it during the laps?
@@alexanderwademd it's helpful for talking through the corners or reviewing after. Not looked at during the laps.
Im here to peak at racing line for my simracing game :D thanks
I am surprised how busy is the pilot, looks more difficult and scary than a F1!
All this video needs is a straight cut gearbox whine
Nice driving! Pretty loose in 20 so you lost a few tenths there. Very fast!
sawing at the wheel just a bit

You known that it isn't the GT3R ? It's the 996 gt3 cup
It is actually a gt3r. model year 2000. the cars first race was the 24 hours of le mans in 2000.
The first one was created in 2010
And the gt3r never race in le mans

Too many 2nd gear turns, garbage track no flow. 400 million dollar pile of shit
Having only driven this track on a simulator, that's my concern as well. I guess I'll find out in 2018.
Good luck..Oh and don't let the owner hear you bad mouth his garbage track..I read he likes to ban drivers from the property that do..
Have u driven on it? Its fun track man. It has a great flow too, a very technical flow... feels great when you get it right.
