I really love the show, having gone in with the expectation that it would be really different. Episode 6, though, the only good part was the funny Peter Griffin death pose.
I have absolutely no clue about the show or deadcells (played a bit years ago) but when you showed how the protagonist looked in the show at first i thought it was a joke
I say this as someone who’s a boy watched episode 1, mood? Great art? meh, I’d much prefer a show that took longer to come out and matched the sick as hell art style of the gameplay trailers
I'm fine with everything else about this series except for the design of the beheaded. Every other character looks absolutely great but the beheaded looks like it was drawn in MS paint using the line tool.
besides the animation and the lore-bait (the queen, the tk weird glitch efferct, the alchemist and the concierge) i'm mad that they didn't name the beheaded "bobby" (i know kinda dumb gripe)
When I say lore-bait I mean that it seems that the show is going to expand on the lore (for example how the concierge turns into the in-game BOSS) but then does a 180 (same with the tk looking effect) I guess it's just a bunch of nods but still
@@thejoeman4774as sad as it seems you don't want to bloat a game too much. The game has a perfect amount of content imo, walking that fine line of tons of variety without diluting anything

Immortalis doesn't live up to the quality of the game, the lore or the animation of the trailers. Considering the game is around the end of it's lifetime regarding receiving any more updates, Immortalis feels like a kick in the teeth to fans of everything else put into it so far.
I personally have some major mixed feelings. As an independent series, I think I would've enjoyed Immortalis. However, i am such a huge fan of the Dead Cells storyline that my brain would constantly compare the two and stop me from genuinely watching it. The original story of Dead Cells fascinated me due to hitting that awesome tone I love: pointless tragedies. The entire point of the game was that we played the protagonist, but we sure as hell didn't play the hero. Too many stories go by the "chosen hero" plotline and I would've preferred something different in the end. But that isn't the big thing. The one thing I would've wanted out of Immortalis above all else.....would just be more small side references to salute the original media it was pulled from. Small jokes regarding something that happens in gameplay, or a background reference to a character. Maybe I'm just sad at the lack of Scarecrow, Time Keeper, and Queen content. Maybe I have favoritism for the original King in the games. But honestly, it can be a unique series separate from the game......but i think it should have more respect for what it inspired off of
@@TheFrosif of course they are! you can get the bobby skin from playing and eventually finding it plus bobby is the only homunculus to have an eye that *looks* like an eye. purple corpse, pink flames, comedically stupid, he's fundamentally different
Misinformation much? The trailers are animated by Bobby Productions, so the community started calling this particular iteration of the Beheaded, Bobby. He's not a separate Homunculus. Also the Bobby look was the first one the community got to see, because it was used for marketing way before they revealed the in-game design. They added the Prisoner Bobby outfit and later on the Bobby outfit (the one with the head) in-game as a nod to the community. They aren't canon. Also Bobby looks different because the art styles used in-game and in the trailers themselves are VERY different from each other, not because they're implying they're different Homunculi 💀
As someone who’s never played or watched a playthrough of the game DeadCells- I loved it, and the animation was top teir. That’s just me through. The comedy was good too
Interesting, I must have missed that. Would explain all the new material I suppose? I wonder, would that mean this is a universe where the events of og dead cells already took place or some new time-line. Not totally sure, haven't beat dead cells on BC yet so idk the lore entirely.
No he said that it had been 250 since the disease had happened. The games had taken place 300 years after the disease had happened. Sort of spoiler, but not really a spoiler.... Also it is revealed that this story doesn't match the original story as the queen was captured by the 'not necromancers' who then used her in an experiment in an attempt to make an immortal body to not be affected by the disease... and this story has the undead bodies bit happen before the disease takes place. Spoiler past that one for the show, but not much of one... As in your classic 'If someone becomes immortal the who world suffers so nobody is allowed to be immortal least the whole world suffers. So you need to kill all the immortals to end the disease, because balance or something."
@@qwefg3 i mean, i like the idea ngl. If this was true, it means in the end they failed their goal to kill the king and ending up where the disease does its debut. Everybody and every character essentially left to their demise except for bobby... or uhh... The Beheaded. I kinda like seeing it from this perspective, gives more of an impactful vibe whenever im playing the game over and over again.
Ok idk why it keeps recommenting or something but imma just delete it all and try again sorry 😭 As a personal DCI fan, I was skeptical at first as well. I believe the simplistic art style matches the humor the show takes on, and the broody artstyle of the original teaser paired with the humor we got wouldn't have mixed well in my opinion. As I watched the show, the artstyle really began to grow on me and I was able to appreciate how much effort Bobbypills put into it working with the tight budget they had. I also read the article about the creation of the show, and an important thing to note was how the writing continues in way that is note acted on by the watcher anymore. We are spectators. It's also important to not follow Dead Cells one to one so we're consuming the same content over and over to act only as a marketing for the game, but to actually make it its own show. Laure acts as the narrator and accompanies Flame Face to keep the feeling of adventure alive. I really enjoy their dynamic, the voice acting was amazing, the soundtrack was also great, the simple writing with the interesting twist, and keeping everything in mind with how much they had to work with, made a genuinely great series. I see this show as more of a spin off than an actual continuation of the games with a different atmosphere, but that doesn’t mean it’s only lighthearted. There were stakes and raw moments, and there’s a lot of imagination to play with when it comes to interpretations of the series. I do wish characters like the concierge had more relevance and that a lot of them wouldn’t be sacrificed for plot, but maybe with the season 2 (if we get one) it could be a bit more faithful. Over all, Dead Cells: Immortalis is honestly a great show and I’d be ecstatic for a second season.
@Sansic8 sorry about the comment deletion, I have the filtering set to its minimum but youtube still likes to randomly silence people from time to time for no reason
You know i sorta expected this series to be like Primal The beheaded barely speaking and taking down monsters and stuff and just trying to not die and sometimes at the end of certain episodes not even successfully make it to the end. The reason i say it be like Primal is Most characters the beheaded encounters don't speak all that much becides the bosses im pretty sure but most of the regular NPC's die to the Mallase becides that guy that you give your cells for upgrades and his friends
I think this show is not really good but not really that bad too. I also have some complaint: 1. Why are they have to nerf the malaise, yeah i know it's not connect with the game but why are they have to nerf it, the malaise in the game literally almost wiped out the whole island and everywhere is not safe for them because the malaise is everywhere, while in the show if someone get infected just throw them into the sewers, problem solved. It makes the malaise less interesting and less threatening, also why the malaise turn into some kind of black hole in the end? It literally introduced as a virus, why is it turn into some kind of black hole 2. Isn't indexa introduced as a archer? Why is she turn into a scientist that brainwashed you? 3. From a game that commit a lot of genocides, why is it has less action, when there's an action in the show it's either short or not really fighting but instead playing games 4. Why having a immortals has to do with the malaise. In the game the malaise came before the immortals/homunculus, yeah like i said the show isn't connected to the game, but just why? I will give this show a 5.5/10, and for my favorite character i think it's the alchemist, his not evil, his just doing what the king said and do what he thinks right, just like in the game. And if there's gonna be a season 2, i hope they made the alchemist badass

As someone who watched and enjoyed the show I just feel like the teaser was simply very misleading, and it was inevitable it would lead to disappointment.
I recently watched the show myself, it was fun to watch. The voice acting was good. Snd the twist at the end i didn't actually expect to be there. I also love how this is more of an alternative timeline from the OG dead cells. With the "Hand" of the king more so being the group's name rather then 1 guy. Spoilers. Also was not expecting the queen to be there, and that the series was left at a cliffhanger.
I will admit, I was disappointed by the animation style at first. I've warmed up to it and wish they get a 2nd season, but I was really hoping this animated series would follow the storyline of the Dead Cells game. At least, so I could find out what happened to tutorial knight
I got over the artstyle pretty quickly and absolutely LOVED the show. My only complaint is that when it was teased, it was suggested/expected that the series would explain the lore of the dead cells story in more depth. I am still a little disappointed we weren't given that gloomy, spooky yet still humorous artstyle to go with the actual storyline but I am still VERY happy with what we have even if it wasn't what we were expecting. Also, as an artist, I can completely understand why they chose a more simplistic artstyle. Imagine animating 70 mins in total of footage with a low budget that is the same quality as a >3 min trailer.

Haven't watched the show but aren't Bobby and the games beheaded different people? Game beheaded being the king and whatnot?
@@logansinclair7488 Yes but there are characters in even the animated trailers that are not in the series.
I watched it in one sitting. For me animated series is really good, new plot, intresting characters and clever way to give us boss battles that not just brainless brawl. Humor is really fine too. It's just 70-80 mins so even if you won't like it, you won't waste too much time so it's good to try out
I really enjoy it and hopes for more mate!
The international public being introduced to bobbypills was not on my bingo card
Just finished watching the show, and it's actually amazing. I desperately need more of it.
Tbh, i did not even know this came out. Thought is was still being made since i never saw anyting about it, other than the teaser.
The art is fine but the instant i saw there was a poop joke in the trailer and that bobby talked all my excitement vanished
He talks in the game, tf are you on about?
@@BlueBerry20071 bobby does not say anything it's pointed out in some of the dialogue, that why he does the thumbs up and stuff all words spoken by Bobby are just him talking to himself
@@PossumWood OK? He STILL talks, even if it's to himself.
@@BlueBerry20071 that's alot different than speaking, I think he would've been alot funnier if they just made him silent and used his body movement for humor
@@BlueBerry20071 like, in his head, not aloud
Finally a video on this topic, I thought the show was completely unseen
So the Dead Cells animated series introduces "Laure Exposito" to this world that helps flesh out an old prophecy and the history of the world itself. Like a character who does lore exposition.
Hmmm...
i think the series did a pretty good job, i didnt know it had a game until i searched for it and now im interested in playing it after seeing the series, i highly recommend watching the series, it isnt the big deal but it definitely will make you burst a laugh
The style felt like eating soft food and feeding a crunch but backwards if that makes any sense.
The style is too cartoony like a flash animation but jumps up and down in style.
I loved the voices (am french) and some jokes, but i must admit I would have loved something in the tones of the game trailers and more in touch with the lore, it looks more like a spin-off
I was very saddened that the art wasn't like the trailers, I'd donate to the cause If It meant we'd get the same quality
I really love the show, having gone in with the expectation that it would be really different. Episode 6, though, the only good part was the funny Peter Griffin death pose.
This has been Dead Cells: Imortallis, but where is Dead Cells: Dead Cells????
I really dont mind the art style for all the other characters, but they really did beheaded dirty...
I understand why bobby's head is so upsetting. Its a flame. It has no shadow because its a source of light
I feel some scissor seven vibes here.
Man, i really wanted to see those trailer animations turn in to a series...
I think its good animation for a series and they animate the fire head all the time, they also need simple animation for fight scenes
I have absolutely no clue about the show or deadcells (played a bit years ago) but when you showed how the protagonist looked in the show at first i thought it was a joke
Honestly? While it wasn’t exactly what I expected, I loved it. 8.5/10
I say this as someone who’s a boy watched episode 1, mood? Great art? meh, I’d much prefer a show that took longer to come out and matched the sick as hell art style of the gameplay trailers
just watched ep 10, yes its different, but its SO good even still.
I'm fine with everything else about this series except for the design of the beheaded. Every other character looks absolutely great but the beheaded looks like it was drawn in MS paint using the line tool.
I miss the animated trailers. I was confused hearing the prisoner speak in the first episode
I just want to point out the fact that this came from the people that made the Castlevania shows
besides the animation and the lore-bait (the queen, the tk weird glitch efferct, the alchemist and the concierge) i'm mad that they didn't name the beheaded "bobby" (i know kinda dumb gripe)
When I say lore-bait I mean that it seems that the show is going to expand on the lore (for example how the concierge turns into the in-game BOSS) but then does a 180 (same with the tk looking effect) I guess it's just a bunch of nods but still
0:38, hey, there was a big update in august
Being "the end is near" singling the end of major dead cells development
@@TheFrosif ; (
@@thejoeman4774as sad as it seems you don't want to bloat a game too much. The game has a perfect amount of content imo, walking that fine line of tons of variety without diluting anything
Bros picked up MS Paint and were like "Yeah, I can make a series out of this"
its funny the trailers are more lighthearted than the game and its promo art by a long shot and then this somehow manages to be even more lighthearted than those trailers
I'm honesty thinking that its a prequel instead of a spin off
Personality, I think they actually toned down the beheaded to make him more likable. Game beheaded is a fullblown pychopath.
I never knew that a dead cells show existed until now lmao
With the weird time travel Dead Cells has, I like to think this is canon in one timeline.
Immortalis doesn't live up to the quality of the game, the lore or the animation of the trailers. Considering the game is around the end of it's lifetime regarding receiving any more updates, Immortalis feels like a kick in the teeth to fans of everything else put into it so far.
I'd kill for a DLC introducing the five fingers as bosses in the game but unfortunately the game is dead
There was a last update but from now on its gonna be patch updates
The curse of “It’s not bad, just a bad entry into a series” strikes again.
imagine not knowing bobbypills animation style
But honestly, it can be a unique series separate from the game......but i think it should have more respect for what it inspired off of
That’s not the beheaded.. that’s Bobby :]
The third (?) successfully made homunculus
Interesting, didn't know they were separate characters
@@TheFrosif of course they are! you can get the bobby skin from playing and eventually finding it
plus bobby is the only homunculus to have an eye that *looks* like an eye.
purple corpse, pink flames, comedically stupid, he's fundamentally different
@@gruiaolaru511 🤓
also nuh uh they are different dudes

As someone who’s never played or watched a playthrough of the game DeadCells- I loved it, and the animation was top teir. That’s just me through. The comedy was good too
I like the animated series. John cells and Laure have a nice dynamic
its not disconnected it takes place I think 250 years into the future thats what the alchemist said
Show isn't canon
@@V2Plushi yeah but its not disconnected ya know i what mean?
I kinda like seeing it from this perspective, gives more of an impactful vibe whenever im playing the game over and over again.
i was just sad that it didnt follow the propper lore

I did not know the old trailers were Bobby Pills! Love their stuff from Laserhawk to… other things.
The French dub just made me think of France as a good country, truly the pinnacle for humanity
I like bobbypills humor/style.. but i fairly understand people who cannot appreciate it
I wish I knew killing the king while Playing Castlevania dlc would throw me back to the beginning
The animated series look gorgeous!
I hope they make a second seris with the original art style
Holy shit this isn’t dead cells trailer level quality but this art style still fucks because HONESTLY it’s pretty original
I hope they make a remake or atleast better animation in season 2 (if they will do season 2)
The trailers look and tell a more accurate story to the game than this show.
Made me collapse the first time I saw the actual series
The animation show is such masterpiece
Ok idk why it keeps recommenting or something but imma just delete it all and try again sorry 😭
As a personal DCI fan, I was skeptical at first as well.
@@TheFrosif nah no worries it’s my own fault I think I sent it twice on accident, idk it’s finicky but it worked in the end I believe
That fire head just isn't calling to me
You know i sorta expected this series to be like Primal The beheaded barely speaking and taking down monsters and stuff and just trying to not die and sometimes at the end of certain episodes not even successfully make it to the end. The reason i say it be like Primal is Most characters the beheaded encounters don't speak all that much becides the bosses im pretty sure but most of the regular NPC's die to the Mallase becides that guy that you give your cells for upgrades and his friends
Ohhh……to be honest. I found this by accident last night. Assuming that it was a fan-made series
ngl, I like the style, feels very quaint, MS paint but with effort kinda thing
WHAT
I THUGHT THE THUMBNAIL WAS JOKING
I honestly think that a comic in the style of the trailers would probably be a far better ( and cheaper too ) option
I think this show is not really good but not really that bad too.
I also have some complaint:
1. It literally introduced as a virus, why is it turn into some kind of black hole
2. Isn't indexa introduced as a archer? Why is she turn into a scientist that brainwashed you?
3. From a game that commit a lot of genocides, why is it has less action, when there's an action in the show it's either short or not really fighting but instead playing games
My fav kinger is the thumb
I didn't even know there was a series
Ohh so that’s what happened? High quality trailer for a mid animation? Bruh I mean. I caught up and finished all 10 eps of the animated series (waiting for season 2 Bobby plzzz) so can’t wait folks ☝️
what they did to my boy
As someone who watched and enjoyed the show I just feel like the teaser was simply very misleading, and it was inevitable it would lead to disappointment.
8:49 no, she didn't "die of failure", she died from a literal stab in the chest. You even show it on the screen...
Looks like some random ass Cartoon Network show
Haven't seen the show, but they better have the hand of the king regardless of the "fingers" being existing characters in the show
I will admit, I was disappointed by the animation style at first. I've warmed up to it and wish they get a 2nd season, but I was really hoping this animated series would follow the storyline of the Dead Cells game. At least, so I could find out what happened to tutorial knight
I suck at drawing but man I could fr make this in microsoft paint, the quality is crazy low
OH MY GOD THEY ACTUALLY DID IT
Aw :( I hope it's good
The Beheaded looks like he was drawn in MS paint what the fuck
