Awesome shot with the PRR overpass at Converse. Luckily the top of the overpass is more accessible now ever since the Sweetser Swtich Trail was put in. Also, I'm pretty sure I passed by the area at 6:01 when I walked the trail once... I have several pics of the bridges. Final note... very cool to see a train on the elevated mainline through Marion, on what's now the Cardinal Greenway. Seeing anything run on there was before my time It's always painful to watch a railroad being torn up, but still fascinating for its own reasons.
@@NELSONRRVIDS Yeah that's right! Makes you wonder what those CSX suits were thinking! Were maintenance costs for the jointed rail really going to exceed the cost of putting in welded rail? Especially considering it was only in a decade or so.
Surprised to see that this was a line with welded rail being pulled up; I assume that in the past it had enough traffic to justify putting welded rail down in the first place. From the other comments, sounds like at least the grade & some bridges survive as a rail trail.
Yes all five bridges in Marion are all there. I jog over them all of the time. The one in Jonesboro that I had a couple videos on is long gone thanks to the help of a semi truck damaging it.
Absolutely gut
wrenching
Yes it is
I spent soooo much time along this stretch from Converse to downtown Marion. Gut punch seeing it gone.
Yes it is tough to see.
I love (and miss) listening to those old Seaboard-tuned 5-chime horns!
Yes so do I. Always so cool to hear those.

Thank you. I'm glad you appreciate the videos that no longer can be seen.
Enjoyed the video. But not that day
Yup for sure
So damn sad! Track was always maintained in A1 condition too. Especially compared to the Penn Central.
Yes and it wasn't all that long ago that they laid welded rail. Sometime during the 80's

@@b3j8 Seems like always a new pencil pusher out to make himself look good thinking he's saving so much money
