I’m so glad I found this channel. Your meticulous work is amazing, someone that truly cares about what they work on. I may not take on some of your work, but I’m certainly learning. I would love to learn and practice reballing the processor and nand. The condition you receive these in mystifies me. I know my devices and my wife’s are pristine. It almost feels like some of the repair shops send these to you almost as a challenge. I learned ultrasonic cleaning from the watch repair world. So many great watch tools that could be applied to these fixes.
Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting. We use my ultrasonic cleaner (and one other small one) for cleaning all sorts of things. It's amazing how clean it can make things!
Tip top work as always. Did you watch Jesse Jones recent video series on getting data off of phone that's trying to go into recovery? I'm glad that she's finally going into exactly which pads need to be present on the interposer to allow boot
This is one of if not the best videos you made!. Q1 Did you use a new cell battery? 2. ) Was this a found iPhone and someone wanted to get to the data? or is the real owner asking for it?
Thank you! I used a known good battery from a different 12 pro max. This came from a shop that didn’t give me the full back story but I’m pretty sure their customer brought it in for recovery. It sure does look like something found in the bottom of a lake though!
Do you think I have any hope in replacing an iPhone 5c Cumulus touch IC? I have an iPad air board to practice on but have never soldered with hot air before.
I wasn't even looking to learn this today, you drew me in and I watched the whole thing. Got to focus I'm late, for a very important date. Back down the hole
How the freckle did he get it running without an ultrasonic. Iron oxide on the pins isn't a problem, but rust stains should conduct and bridge/short stuff.
Sometimes people don't want to toss into the ultrasonic before sending it off to somebody else because they like to know where the chaos started. I see what you're saying though
Heya, oh wouw that you still could get the data from it that looks like it has bin in water for some time. I wouldn't even start on a board like that no way
That is just utter hell in a phone, I'm amazed that it functions at all. I think the owner needs his new phone coated internally with heavy duty Lacquer lol. People need to back up every month so if its damaged a restore is a grab away :-D Yes i know, it wont happen.
I’m amazed that people don’t back them up - especially when there is this much data! It’s like a magical little cube that just holds everything forever… until it’s dead!
Can't. Must not have any reboots to get data! I paced around and hovered over this recovery for hours dreading for it to have any trouble! This model needs top and bottom board + working dock flex and battery to get data.
@@ststele Did you have your UPS battery connected on the off chance of a power flicker? 🤷♂ Twenty-eight or so years ago I purchased a small UPS that I would connect a desktop to when I had to flash the BIOS. I was paranoid about a power interruption in the middle of that process. 😱
I've had a mild 2 day headache but other than that my health is better than it has been in many years. I am starting to get quite a few more grey hairs tho. :-) thank u
Thanks! Yah the previous guy must have followed a long chain of events to get it to power up. I went straight after the NFC issue that caused it to fail authentication to get in. He had the harder job I think!
someone paid an insane amount of $$$ for a recovery. but that same person also doesnt know how to backup their phone to a pc. just guessing, and im not talking about itunes backups... i manually backup images/videos weekly. but anyway that is an insane amount of water damage, did they send you a picture before sending it? if they did you either know them well or they bribed you to just look at it LOL.... would be funny to make a video saying "look what happens when you dont put your phone in RICE!"
I was in total shock that this board actually booted! I was on pins and needles for hours while the data transferred. Probably 200 connections hanging by a thread and dozens of caps about to short.
Looks like one of those phones the dudes who scuba dive at boat launch ramps find on the bottom.
Yah, that's what I thought. Lost underwater for days!
Seen that at boat ramps a lot of times, ie, found stuff with my feet under the water - lol -.

i think jessa jones from ipad rehab or jesse from vcc boards repairs worked this phone because this two guys are highly skilled like you jason

Hi, why you don’t do a full board swap for data recovery ?
I do many full swaps but not if it isn’t required. Surprising this one didn’t need it.
What solution do you use to clean the motherboards in your ultra sonic cleaner?
I wasn't even looking to learn this today, you drew me in and I watched the whole thing. Got to focus I'm late, for a very important date. Back down the hole

Yah really! I’ve never checked it personally but I’m pretty sure iron oxide is very conductive!
sir, what chemical do you use for pcb ultra sound cleaner machine?
I use 3% of Branson EC in distilled water.
Had to watch the last few seconds just to make sure I didn't miss something!😂
😂 my son told me I was cruel to end the video like that.
@@ststele I think your son has snatched the pebbles from your hand. 😲
which ultrasound device do you use?
Waterproofing is taking on a new meaning at Apple.
I didn't realize it until after it shipped and I was editing this video - I think this phone had the back glass replaced before!
Goes to show you "YOU'RE THE MAN"!
Thank you!! 🙏

was a lucky customer that there was corrosions around NAND, CPU or WiFi chip
Damn its a freaking miracle!
I guess the battery was empty when the water got inside.
I bet you’re right! Or maybe the water was so conductive that the internal breaker in the battery tripped very early. Maybe both 🙂
yikes! how can you get the data if it reboots every 3 minutes?

WOW!
Wish I could like multiple times for the 'Huh-uh-hu's' Also, I've dug up archaeological finds that look less corroded than that phone.

I once repaired an iPhone 11 pro max that was in a toilet. The smell was horrible when using hot air 😂
Toilet phones are the worst when you start warming them up. 🤢
