    EMERGENCY! is so underrated. Alot of kids who know this show that is now on COZI t.v. refuse to look at the show as a positive show to watch and regard paramedics Gage and De Soto as role models. So saddens me their parents want them to look at athletes as their role models.

      I’m rewatching on FETV. I was very young at the time. It is highly underrated. It did more for the advancement of emergency medicine at the time then anything else on TV for decades.

    i took at least one CPR first aid class back in Jr. High School i suppose it would be fun to take the class again i wish Kevin Tighe and Randolph Mantooth were instructors for that it would be so cool to have a first aid class with 1970's TV show stars like those two guys

      EMERGENCY! and The Streets Of San Francisco are mine. Sure there is a huge difference in genre when it comes to those two shows but in my opinion they're equally good. I proudly have the entire series of both shows. "Station 51 KMG 365." and "Inspectors 81 to headquarters." Fact: Vince Foster who played Officer Vince on EMERGENCY! was on a few episodes of The Streets Of San Francisco as well. First episode of The Streets Of San Francisco Vince was on he played an Inspector when Lieutenant Michael Stone (Karl Malden) is abducted by a gang called the Cobras on season 1's episode Trail Of The Serpent and on season 2 he returns as an inspector in season 2's episode Harem. Seasons 3 and 4 his character's name was Charlie who works in the crime lab and his scenes were mainly with Karl Malden and Michael Douglas. He never returned to do any episodes ofseason 5 of The Streets Of San Francisco

    i don't think First Aid goes out of date like a jug of milk. Perhaps new techniques are introduced over time, but I am sure you could still save someone with this information.

      It is out of date guys... This was before the prevalence of the Heimlich Maneuver.

  • @samborajovigirl
    @samborajovigirl 11 років тому +5

    Most of these are not outdated... they still remain true today... the only one that has an alternate is choking... that has a different technique now... but almost all of them are the same... and it is very educational... This teaches us to be ready in an emergency situation, so we can help save lives....
    If you want to really be prepared, take a CPR class, from your local fire department, and take a first aid class from them as well...

  • @digigal
    @digigal 8 років тому +7

    The only thing that was really outdated in the video was treatment of a choking victim. The Heimlich Maneuver is now the recommended first aid technique.

    A lot of this was very good, & even reminded & taught me some things I didn't know. Just the choking, since replaced w/ "abdominal thrust," & CO (I've had it - it's hell) & choking victims call 9-1-1 for emergency medical response. Good film !

    believe the year was 1975 and he was in his 30's

    • @1986Honda4trax
      @1986Honda4trax 6 років тому

      Rhonda A. Anderson I think it's a little earlier than 75 because he was born in 1944 and it would make him in his 30s if it's in 1975 but he looks younger here than he did in emergency which started in like 73ish and he looks older in the start of the show. That's just what I think

    • @susantherestorer

      According to the official book, "Emergency! Behind The Scene", this First Aid film came out in 1975. It makes sense, as Kevin here looks like he looks in seasons 5-6.

    Some are, and some are NOT outdated, Not everyone has a portable resperator, a portable o2 tank, nor do they have a saline solution (aka the water with salt that kevin mentions) to redily adminster to them.

    ANY FIRST AID IS BETTER THAN NO FIRST AID!!! Technology and techniques change but it's better than doing nothing. The Emergency episode Welcome to Santa Rosa County proves the point.

  • @madkittyjoey70
    @madkittyjoey70 2 роки тому

    All of the procedures are still effective today except for the one about choking. The Heimlich Maneuver (best procedure to use on someone's who's choking nowadays) wasn't introduced back then.
    Overall, using common sense when it comes to first aid will never go out of style.

    EMERGENCY SHOWED HOW IT REALLY IS

  • @Trojanny
    @Trojanny 6 років тому

    Kevin Tighe's "First Aid" film ? Okay, didn't include "Abdominal Thrust," which was devised later, however, along w/ calling "9-1-1-," all of these are good things to do. Choking? Back-slap, however, HAVE MOST OF the victim high up, like on table, w/ head & neck lower. The rest of this ? GOOD ADVICE, yet today. (Call that 9-1-1, calmly give address, & situation as you see it. They may ask your phone number. This is just in case they need to call & double-check location. Give it)!
