We love you all! Thanks so much for supporting the show. It is another day of 1400 calories and some new ways to add protein to your existing meals. Leave a comment below and let me know if you are doing this with me. -Joey
Great video! I've started doing recipe reboots on my channel. I'm taking my existing recipes and making some swaps so they are higher protein. It's so easy to do.
I get the warmest, sunniest vibes from your videos. You both have very warm and kind personalities. I don’t have my own kitchen, but I’m moving in July and I’m literally counting down the weeks until I can try some of these recipes! So clever to use edamame noodles in the spring rolls!
More of Tim's garden!! Love growing produce :D
Thanks for sharing your journey! You’ve inspired me to add more protein to my diet, now that I’m 50. I haven’t eaten meat since 1986, then went vegan in 2018, and have never struggled with my weight until the last two years. Pretty sure it’s age/hormone related because nothing else has changed! You’re both looking great and seem so happy. You’re a lovely couple.
I use Earth himps protein powder - great product! Thanks for sharing their info and getting everyone a discount. They are the nicest people to deal with🥰
Love you guys, amazing personalities and you're both so smart!
Wow, that patio is beautiful! I'd love to see more gardening videos with Tim. These recipes looked delicious, too. I need to try that TVP beet burger!
Yummy.. i love those spring rollls!
"Oh my god, I feel so environmental right now!" You crack me up. I am so invested in those star jasmine vines! I can't wait to see them grow up and cover that fence.
I forget all about that composter but I am glad that Tim is keeping after it. The star jasmine did a great job of covering out neighbors big work truck on the other side of the gazebo.
Wow 😱everything looks so good💅💅thank you both so much 🙏
Thanks for the great recipes and garden tour! You're right about powdered ginger tasting like dirty sink water in sauce recipes. Try fresh! You can grate it and freeze it, or buy the frozen cubes. Sprouts probably has them. The company also has frozen fresh garlic and basil in little cubes (1 tsp +/-).
Great video! Love when you show your garden
thanks for sharing your lives ! love it
I’ve never tried one of your recipes that I didn’t like! Can’t wait to make the spring rolls now😊
You look amazing Joey 👍 love the channel!
Awesome recipes, awesome garden thank you so much for sharing Joey and Tim
Another great video, thank you for all the meals and ideas!
Another really enjoyable video - thanks!
Love all your videos! I have learned so much from you! Gracias my friends!
You both are doing amazing. Beautiful garden Tim. Just a tip, because you put your beautiful meatless burger on square bread. Try cooking them in a loaf pan. Or use a square container to cut and square to fit on your bread.❤
Thank you for the great ideas!
Thanks so much for this content - high protein, lower calorie is exactly what I need to make progress, too. I don’t think any other plant based channels are doing this. Please keep it up! Also, it’d be nice if Joey let Tim talk more and didn’t interrupt him so much. 😅
I am working on that.
@@PlantBasedDads I’m glad for that. It’s also nothing to be ashamed of - it only stood out to me because I have the same habit. So really, I’m just a big hypocrite. 😂❤️
I like that we are both working on bettering ourselves.
Love how this video is edited, makes it very easy to follow the recipes, great ideas too! Feeling inspired by the garden Tim, looks so well thought out and lush (hard not to be jealous of the sun, I have a big garden with a lot of shade, many of my plants struggle, my star jasmine is green but hardly flowers). It was so nice to get another look at your neighbourhood Joey, you go passed some lovely front gardens, it is so different than my local area - good of you to take us for a stroll. Thanks guys, great video!
Lots of people think the desert is barren and just a lot of beige. It is true that we keep the home colors light so they blend in with the background, but the desert flowers are all very pretty and colorful. I like doing videos where we do some food, some gardening, some walking. I like to have 2-3 different locations when possible. Thanks so much for being a supporter of the show. I love that you get to comment with me each week. By the way, I am going to London on a school trip next summer. I am so excited.
@@PlantBasedDads How exciting, London is fun, hope you have some free time to explore. I love the holistic focus of your videos!
Definitely going to try this next week.
I have a tip for you. Put down a tea towel on your cutting board and place the wet rice paper on that while filling and rolling. It works really well, adheres just a tad to the towel, but never slippery like on a plate. The adherence to the towel is ever so slight, that it gives you control in the rolling process and won’t tear or slip.
I would love to see more of Tim's gardening adventures. Though I live in VA, I'm always interested in what fellow gardeners experiences are. I am also going to try the brocc bake, have to look back for the burger recipe (because they looked amazing) and the cheese sauce recipe. OK, sounding like a nutter here, but definitely am going to try the spring rolls too.
Nice shout out to Minnesota! The looks yummy. I’ll give it a try.
Dirty sink water😂😂😂😂. Im not smelling that. love the smell of fresh ginger... You're too funny. Thanks for the video
I think I got that whole thing where you cant eat cilantro because it taste like soap, except I love cilantro and cant eat ginger.
i really see the difference in Tim. you had a pic in the video of him from before and he has lost weight and more fit. Joey is also lookin fit. all the food looked great for 1400 calories.
I'm impressed by your garden and raised beds. I live in the desert too, so I know the challenges desert gardeners face! Also, have you tried fresh ginger? I feel like it tastes a lot better. 🙂
Good morning from San Antonio Texas!
I love TVP. It’s a great protein source and it’s so versatile.
I absolutely love your videos! I love how you show how to eat mostly whole foods, but still getting inthe higher protein. All these recipes look fantastic! Thanks so much for all you do! I love your plants as well! What brand of TVP do you use?
Hi Kathy. We are using Anthony's Textured Veg Protein organic
@@PlantBasedDads thanks!
I used to live on Scottsdale, then moved to Mesa then to Tempe, back to Mesa, in 5 years ugh hotter than hell. No thanks, x couldn’t keep a job I called it quits.
I wouldn't live anywhere else!
And Tim has lost weight tooo!
do you use protein powder and if you do which one do you use? Thank you in advance.

Been up since 5;30.
Joey I was vegan for years and ran into the same problem as you are. We didn’t cook with oil but had to use a lot of mock meats to hit our protein goal. TVP is clean but the sausage, burgers are filled with oil. I see you going down the same rabbit hole as I did and I love your channel been watching for a long time. In order to get your protein as a vegan you don’t have a choice but mock meats are so unhealthy and you know that. I’m telling you it was a disaster. It’s unfortunate but we couldn’t continue down that path. I’ve never had high cholesterol mind you got a physical after 3 years vegan and all my bad cholesterol was sky high. In order for you to maintain you will have to continue with trainer. Couldn’t afford one so I walked 3-5 miles 6 days a week but guess it wasn’t enough. I’m telling you this because you mentioned in one of your videos this was something you we’re currently doing until the weight comes off. I hate to be the burden but it’s the truth. Ill continue watching, recipes are beautiful. Good luck to you.
I am not worried about any of that. My calories will increase as I gain more muscle and the need for some processed ingredients will diminish. I know where I came from and I know I don't want to go back to that. It is pretty clear for me. Most of what I eat is still whole foods. If adding TVP to some of my meals helps me to continue to eat a lot of whole foods on this way of eating, I am good with that for now. Thanks so much for commenting.
Where does Tim get his beds
We go the raised beds from Costco years ago
Do you feel full on the calorie deficit? If so, is it the protein that keeps you feeling full?
I am getting enough to eat for sure. I would have to guess that it is the protein like you said
I am very frustrated because I know I'm in a calorie deficit. I run 5 kms 2 to 3 times per week and do weight workouts twice a week as well as well as walking. I can't understand it!!
What does your tracking program say as far as how many calories you have taken in vs how many you have burned?
I am guilty of not logging my food like I should be. I am also wondering if the vigorous exercise is raising my cortisol. Not sure but I look different. I feel like I look leaner and my clothes ft better but the scale is up...plus I'm post menopausal so it's hard I'm finding at 50 to lose.
❤
Just ordered some pb2, excited to try it out
