    Glad to see someone using the oil extractor pump.
    The first time I used mine I was curious to see if it did remove all of the oil so I put the car up on ramps and loosed the oil sump plug to check after using the extractor pump. Not a drop of oil came put! This proved that the oil extractor method does work just fine.
    I have been doing it this way ever since. You can do the oil and filter change in 20 minutes.

    Hey BMWDoctor, we have an E53 with a m54 engine. The engine was recently rebuild because there was a problem with the block as cylinder 2 sleeve had movement, so we took it back to the machine shop to get it rectified. for the first start up we used regular castrol 10w-40 oil and noticed it had a noise like lifter ticks and the vehicle would hard start on cold but ran okay however as there was a slight misfiring that could be felt and the car threw different codes. Afterwards, we changed the oil to synthetic 5w-30 and the lifer tick noise went away but when the engine got hot, cylinder 2 started to misfire as the code suggested. we did a compression on cylinder 2 when cold it is 160psi and when hot it is 90psi. do you think the oil change affected the car or what would you suggest?

    From my own experience, I would NEVER recommend an engine flush on a high mileage M54. The engine flush works well dont get me wrong, but it can knock debris (sludge) loose and clog oil passages leading to bearing overheating and failure. Found this out the hard way!

    • @BMWDoctor
      @BMWDoctor  4 роки тому +3

      Never found it out the hard way in many many years of using it !!!
      You must of not done it right as many many people use this and never found that out

    • @iAlwaysSpeakTheTruth
      @iAlwaysSpeakTheTruth 4 роки тому

      I think an engine flush is garbage , you’re taking a huge risk of it not going right. I also had an M54 and they don’t age well. My N26 has been flawless.

    • @iAlwaysSpeakTheTruth
      @iAlwaysSpeakTheTruth 4 роки тому

      Not to mention that heavy ass motor puts one hell of a strain on the suspension

    • @JP-st8sf
      @JP-st8sf 4 роки тому +1

      Did it right - let the engine idle for 10 min then simple drain and fill. The problem I found out was that the poorly maintained and high mileage M54 (190k miles) was sludged up and had no drivability issues until LiquiMoly Pro Engine Flush was added to the crankcase which works so well that it removed a lot of rhe caked on sludge which actually clogged the oil passage in one or more of the bearings which eventually led to a completely spun rod bearing on a motor that seemed to run knock free before. I know high mileage isnt a good example and theres other factors but I was SHOCKED by how much debris came loose that is not normally there when changing the filter

    • @rowen898
      @rowen898 4 роки тому +5

      Jp Mckinney sounds like your engine was done before you put the flush in. Changing the oil more often is a safer method to flushing if the sludge has gone too far. But if your motor cant take a flush then death was not far away.

    Hello from the Isle of Wight, last year I purchased a 59 plate BMW 1 series, I popped it into a local garage for my first mot. I asked them to change the oil, soon as I drove it off site it went into limp mode, with no previous issues I was concerned, I called the RAC who said the garage have overfilled my car with oil and used 5w 30 not 0w 30 as recommended.
    It lights up like a Christmas tree with now over 47 faults including dpf, all of the glow plugs have errors.
    I am gutted as my wife is a nurse and I can't pick my son up from UNI, I am in 2 minds to get rid of it or not, my heart is in my guts and feel our savings have vanished because the garage killed my car.

    Hi. I was getting a sonar electric sound beeping on a cold start and it would go away when the engine temperate reached normal. Gave the car into the garage and there were no faults stored or the engine management light before this. The garage carried out their investigations and found the vanos solenoid apart number 11367614288 needing replaced which they done and then carried out the ISTA teach process for the new vanos solenoid. Drove the car away and the next morning on a cold start, the engine started to judder(felt like it was going to cut out) when the revs dropped down (600-700rpm)on idle and automatically the car increased to 800-900rpm. Waited for the car to heat up and drove off. The next day, I experienced the same and then the engine management light came on when I drove for 30secs. Took it back to the garage and they advised to change the engine oil and oil filter(geniune BMW parts used ). Carried out the reset on the ISTA (vanos adapations and cleared the fault codes). The codes have re-appeared with the engine management light on
    130713 vanos solenoid valve , inlet position not reached
