Hey guys, I had a cEDH event last night, and I used Cam's Jeska Ishai deck (with a few of my own tweaks). The deck was really fun to play, and I managed to get top 8!
One thing I've learned about tribal decks, the more efficient tribes are INSANE. Goblins, Zombies, HUMANS (thanks to MID), Vampires (always), Wizards and even Merfolk can lead to some spectacular games.
I prefer the lesser played tribes like nightstalkers, licids, nagas, frogs, and leeches no one sees their synergies coming. One often played tribe I do play tho is dragons and they are beautiful
@@kingfuzzy2 Torens, Katilda, and the new Sigarda help do everything the human tribe wants to accomplish. I guess being able to do infinite combat damage in something other than Boros, or drawing your entire deck in another color besides blue, never occurred this guy. Also, the lifegain synergies and really nasty stax pieces are ALL primarily in these colors. How many tribes can say they're able to Aetherflux people by doing nothing other than entering play and smashing people (no infinite combos required).
I’ve been watching this channel for a year now? This is the first time I’ve read the comments. This is easily my favorite MTG channel. The energy and joy you all bring to the game is a delight. Tyler shouldn’t have died in that second game. When he cast Xyris the very next turn Chris used Skull clamp to draw two cards which should’ve given him 2 snake tokens. If I’m not mistaken when Dylan swung out at him he would’ve been able to block at least 6 more damage allowing him not to die to the one 3/4 attacker from Dylan a turn later. I have a muxus deck that I love very much, it used to be a wort, boggart auntie deck (my first edh deck). I know krenko gets most of the love for the mono red goblin tribal, but I hope this makes people look at muxus a little more. He won’t go as wide, but he’ll get the bigger players out and most times krenko will show up anyways. It’s always fun to roll the dice.
Thank you all for reminding all of us, and by us I mean me, that Commander is fun. These games were great! On a side note: Could you all podcast about the difference between CEDH/High Powered/EDH? There has been some real debate about this and I feel, as the vanguards of the CEDH format, I think you all are the correct folks to explain this. Thanks my bois!
You can tell right off the bat how excited Dylan was to play Edgar haha Also, I wonder if Dylan is running Bloodvial Purveyor which is a house in Edgar.
I love this edgar list!! Edgar was my first ever commander deck since I've always loved mtg vampires, but since I was just getting into magic at the time, I really didn't know how to make it good. For a while, I tried updating my edgar deck as I learned more about magic, but still didn't know how to make a good edgar deck. I would love to see some highly optomized tribal games in the future with some of the top tribes out right now. Maybe like BR Grenzo vs Marywn vs The first sliver vs Edgar or a zombie tribal, maybe merfolk.
To me, it's really funny as even your 'casual' games are the best gameplay I see here on youtube, from the other CEDH channels and even comparing to the 'cinematic experience' of gameknights. I believe that this is due to you guys being REALLY skillful at Magic, somethimg that I personally strive to be, in CEDH, yes, but also in the more 'casual/noncombo/combat damage' side of commander, that's also cool! Would love to see more of these gameplays from you!
It is always nice to see a casual game knowing Tyler's quote "As the resident casual player." I had a question anyone can answer. Which in your opinion is the best Commander for Merfolk tribal?

What would be the point of Edgar? He need vampires to do anything and there arent any Staxy vampires out there to make a stax deck. If you are going to just use generic stax pieces, than any other mardu commander would do the same thing if not better
@@clrl936 that’s not entirely true. @@MasterDecoy1W right so, your statement is 100% true. Edgar, in my opinion as well, just isn’t as good as other commanders in that color combination. Second game. Style forget to make 2 Snakes by Chris skullclamp. And Chris cheaten by playing Myriad Landscape and cast Muxxus. Landscape comes into Play tapped not untapped ;)
Does just having Xyris as a commander qualify Tyler's deck as snake tribal? I didn't really see any Snake synergies, just the usual Xyris wheelin' and dealin' shenanigans. Not that snakes *have* a lot of synergies, but still
In the acknowledgement that this is "casual" commander- I think Xyris shouldve won both games by a landslide. Tribal or not when appropriately built, the deck just turns into a overflowing wheel & burn prison/aggro deck. Either storm off and end the game with the post combat synergies of cards like Birgi, Neheb, Mana Echoes Horizon Stone, Kruphix, etc, along with the Impact Tremors. The necessary cards for the deck are too easy to get and too many in redundancy. To not be able to wind almost every Xyris game without being hard cast is ridiculous. Also a side note about the Snoop vs drawing multiples. Drawing multiples is a simultaneous action that can be separate by replacement fx. Snoop is not a replacement effect though so you're just drawing X cards without showing anything beneath the top in between spell resolution.
The dialog about the number of vampires vs cast vampires, highlight 😂
