I know that seems like a lot but considering loss of good, gasoline to live in your car and the pain, frustration and heat headache - it’s not that bad. If you go to a hotel for 8 days? You easily are already at $1500 because you still have to eat. Yes yes yes - you really need 2 solar generators. One for your fridge and one for your climate control. A business's primary goal is to provide goods or services in a way that makes a profit....it is the government's job to forecast and prepare for disasters, and to oversee and manage assistance and rescue efforts. And it's the governments job to create a framework of rules and regulations within which businesses must operate and to make sure those businesses are in compliance. Republicans want to deregulate everything and to get rid of rules and laws that force businesses to protect the public....then they want to scapegoat the businesses when things go wrong. 1:16 He's got enough money for a Generac that powers *everything* . It came on instantly. His A/C didn't even have a blip. His Generac probably cost more than some people's houses. Must be nice!
EDIT: Oh my goodness. For those getting triggered... I simply made a point that the man is doing well enough to not be affected by this power crisis. Hell, he probably had to find out about it on the news. LOL!!! I'm not a hater, so calm down. And yes, owning a top notch Generac is expense to buy and expensive to keep running. Otherwise, everybody would have a home and a 12K Generac full of gas and nobody would be suffering.

Under 3K for a portable that you have to wheel out (to avoid CO poisoning yourself) and plug in a few extension cords. add another K for a a safe transfer switch (1 cord from Genset)

@@BlackFemaleAnd50 for a home all you need is a couple solar generators and a rolling AC unit. Around $3k for all of it. No gas, no carbon monoxide nothing even heavy. No running back and forth with containers of gas or diesel. Yes more upfront but nothing on the backend except hanging your solar panels out a windows. When your got power again, fold it up and put it in your closet.

Infra structure has changed dramatically within last ten years with a city growing so fast it’s almost impossible to keep up with the huge demand in many neighborhoods, two households are replaced by ten apartments equivalent to ten households i too was affected by the lack of power. Thankfully we didn’t get the massive rain that often come with hurricane. because of so much concrete being poured and literally no absorbing taking place that has become a problem too and for some reason there is no bigger picture in the brain cells of some of the complainants. Contacting an attorney for something we cannot control seems illogical the hurricane and rapid growth in a city as huge as Houston seems like a waste of money. I’m sure people will not like this comment and think me ignorant but it cost a boat load of money to attack infrastructure issues and they have to budget with out hitting wallets so hard nothing comes for free I’d rather they take it slowly and steady instead of getting on the express lane and having to up my electric cost.

Somehow I think that suing will make it worse, so on top of the recovery you are going to bury them in legal fees and waste time with court appearances.
I could also say that restaurants should invest in their own back generators. Stop relying solely on the grid.
There was a Mexican store in my neighborhood that had its own Genrac and was operation the day after the storm.
Like wise a Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood has a generator.

I’ve been here through every storm and I’ve never seen or heard of power being restored as fast as they are restoring it. 80% of customers in less then a week ? That is fast people. I live in Beaumont whenever we lose power here after a storm. 1-3 weeks minimum before lights are back on. The people in houston are lucky it’s going as fast as it is. I know it’s miserable I know it sucks. This is where we live in the world and this is our reality. Hang in there!
