My last bill was $260 & of that $105 of it went to Centerpoint and for what? They aren't trimming trees and they arent maintaining their stuff so why are we forced to pay them so much in addition to our usage?
Why did property owners plant trees under and next to power lines???????? Heaven to Betsy that any property owner would take ANY accountability for maintaining THEIR PROPERTY!!
@@allen_p Yes, property owners clearly and strategically planted all of the trees on their property directly next to power lines, and intentionally didn't maintain them, so that those trees would eventually grow and fall directly on said lines and be without power for weeks 🙄 I know your job title has caused you to be quite biased in this situation, but let's be for real.
Wrong question asked! Why did property owners plant trees under and next to power lines???????? Heaven to Betsy that any property owner would take ANY accountability for maintaining THEIR PROPERTY!!
Usually it is the responsibilty of the homeowner, from the transformer to the home. (Thr drop line). If I had trees/shrubs causing problems with the drop line-My power company will clear the area but bill me.
I’m new to TX but in WI the electric company was responsible up to the meter and were constantly trimming. They were a great place to get free mulch lol
Glad the news anchor is fed up with it too. Like the man in the interview said “No accountability”. All this money being thrown around yet little to nothing getting done.

Aren't customers also responsible for trimming the trees in their properties and the city for trimming trees in public areas? There's fault all around.
You can't trim trees around active power lines Einstein! That is not the responsibility of the customer. Local officials and centerpointless discourage homeowners from cutting trees or branches near powerlines anyway!! The responsibility for trimming branches around powerlines falls squarely on centerpointless and they failed miserably. And it sounds like they still don't want to fix the problem. They need to be sued AND fined!!! We pay them to provide electricity. It is their job to provide and maintain that service...the one we pay them for!!
Well, since the hurricane was NOT forecast to hit Houston, It's kinda hard to blame Centerpoint for being prepared for something that was not supposed to happen...

@arthurfoyt6727 So they saw that the initial hurricane was not forecast to hit Houston and decided to turn off the tv and pretend that everything was normal? You can't be that stupid or maybe you can. Everyone in the Houston area had access to the same hurricane information. The updates by Saturday were very specific that there was a good chance that Houston would be in the path. And you forget that centerpointless admitted that they had outside crews on standby outside of Houston, but they never said where they were.
Centerpoint? WHERE THE HELL IS FEMA? I've not seen one FEMA distribution center since the hurricane. At least with Ike they send water, ice, MRE's to help people out.
Hold government accountable for allowing companies to do this. This is what you get for lack of regulations
It's property owners fault. Their trees fell on the lines.
Hold GOVERNMENT accountable for taking $$ to look the other way.
@@allen_p, to much truth. Folks don’t like that.

You can barely see the pole and lines running through my neighborhood. The guys did raise my line ( they were from an outside company).
Trees should be in parks and reservoirs, away from residential areas and utility poles.
Amen!! Thank you.
Sounds legit. It’s like grading your own test
$10 per customer per year, I would say nope they did not do enough
nope, and i’m not sure why they don’t have a close connection and relationship with tree trimmers and why don’t they network?
No they didn't do squat
It's Entergy also

providing an excuse for the big power company? good to know who you work for
Is the water wet?
How about the city and county help with the down trees.
It’s a fact they have not cleared trees in years and said it the tree owners problem not there problem 😢😢😢😢
this is exactly why it needs to be mandated by a law crafted by the state legislature
5.000 to actually trimming trees, 10,000 filling Politicians Coffers.
Short answer...NO! Texas has the leadership it elected and deserved.
we need proof with areas !

They the huggers woulda sued cp. they didn’t want any trouble. Plus it was too hot to cut shade trees
Since they don't actually do it, I would say no.
