  • A lot has changed since the original R1 was introduced in 1998, and with the 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 and R1M, never has the line between MotoGP and lil ’ol me been so blurred.

      Hey Cycle Cruza! Would you trade your CBR ~ double ~R R R R R- for this? :)

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza 9 років тому +3

      Curtis To No, because I still believe the cbr is a better road bike, more comfortable for street riding. This new R1 is more of a track weapon, R1 also helps keep you from having a real F'kd day at the track with it's refined rider aides.

      For sure man I would love to have this bike :D Seems like they are improving on the electronics from other competitors too/ SO thats exciting :D I think this bike would look great in a solid color too :D

      CycleCruza You are kidding right ? Better road bike ? The electronic suspension adapts to whichever road you are into. Not the CBR. Sure its not hard to be a better road bike when you have 30 horses down on power, so you don't need those technologies ...

      Alex FoS1KR Your thinking the R1M. Plus, the R1 makes most of it's higher horsepower over 10,000 RPM. When's the last time you legally hit 10,000 RPM on even a Fireblade on the street?

    I just got my 2016 Anniversary Edition R1. With the lift, slide and launch control... "It is like being fired out of a gun!" I leave V8 cars and trucks in the dust in C mode. I am not afraid of A and B, it is just twitchy in traffic. I hated my FZ-07 but I love this bike! Hard decision and no regrets, I picked this over the BMW, I think BMW has a little more work to do. The BMW is probably more comfortable for street, but I did not buy this to be comfortable, I bought it to go freakin' fast! I also have a track so close to my home I can hear it.

    Absolutely gorgeous bike, it had to grow on me but now I'm obsessed. On a different note, it is 2016 (and 2015 at the time of upload) therefore there is absolutely NO reason for a large UA-cam channel to upload ANYTHING below 1080p. It's not a deal worth actually bitching about but I just can't think of a reason for the editor here to render a 720p final.

  • @darkchild4neverever

    Why is everyone going nuts for the fact that these bikes are being claimed at 200HP at the crank. They won't make that at the wheel and if 200HP at the crank was that big of a deal then hasn't the F4RR been making that for a few years? These bikes are going to come back with 160-170HP dynos and then what. BMW, MV, Ducati and maybe Kawasaki have already been in that ball park for a while now haven't they.

    • @cshatfireball
      @cshatfireball 9 років тому

      Shits me off how the manufacturers specify crank HP, it's false advertising, 2 bikes of different make can have same crank HP and yet have totally different Wheel HP read outs due to different drive trains,they need to start doing dyno stats for true readouts

    I think it's great that the manufacturers are putting more track focus on the bikes they choose to take racing, I think they should ALL be racing machines foremost. However, I also think that means we need high-performing street/sport bikes that are more street dedicated - something like the Ninja 1000, VFR, etc. In fact, I'd be willing to bet those would be more popular than naked bikes, which despite all their potential, just aren't as useful as a bike with a fairing. It seems people want high quality components and high performance, and they realize racing ergonomics suck unless you're actually in the act of racing, which is why I think the recent popularity of nakeds has taken off. I think it's just a matter of time until people start realizing not having wind protection on a motorcycle is really uncomfortable and VIOLA: the street/sport bike/faired naked bike is born.

    I have no problem with the price of the bike new but the depreciation on this bike will be a killer. I see resale value dropping off too much. Though, it is a great bike. Rode these two on the track recently and I am a fan. Can't bring myself to purchase this over a European motorcycle that will hold value if you take care of it.

      Yeah I know! I haven't been on two wheels for about 7+ years and wanted to jump back onto one so I went to the R1 unveiling in my town and when the salesperson said $25k AUD for the top model I can't remember if I said "You're f***ing kidding me" out loud or in just my head. Now I regret not having my 05 R1 in lava red anymore. Which I bought for $16k brand new.

      2cool0 At the time I got it for $16k AUD on the road with the first 3 services for free. I think in the mean time as much as I hate getting second hand stuff I'll just look into getting an older R6 to get the feel of freedom again and eventually work my way up somehow. For $25k I could get a half decent sedan or a house deposit.

    • @junklifegames
      @junklifegames 8 років тому

      Really? Come on man that deep growl from V4 and cross plane engines sounds so much better and aggressive than the typical screech of a flat plane! Anyway an opinion is an opinion and I respect that, to me the ZX10R is the best sounding flat plane....the BMW S1KRR sounds pretty good with the right exhaust but a bit boring stock...that RSV4 sounds bar none the best sounding stock bike and with an exhaust.

    • @hoopforever99

    so close to a perfect race street design then they put those two fish eye looking driving lights,
    I see so many ways the driving lights could have been integrated much better whilst maintaining the aerodynamic integrity, the lights look so last min.
    how punishing,
    They wouldn't deter me but they will deter many who are on the ledge who are just searching for a reason not to like the bike and go with another choice.

      We'll have to see the initial reviews. It may be in a different league.

      The stats say its porky but some early reviews gave out some positive feedback. At 525lbs with 200hp and it needs a super charger to achieve that is a bit of a let down. We have all the new liter bikes doing 195hp+ without any force induction. I'm guessing the supercharger gives it an edge on 5th and 6th gear. But its also 75lbs heavier than the current super bikes - that is 16% heavier.
      I see it as a hayabusa challenger.

      I mention the busa because it is a big bike, slightly on the heavier side and has the HP to match its weight.

      MrPanda415 There's a review on bike world.. the H2R is described as being like a busa or ZX14R .... but on a whole other level of speed. bikes like the R1M would still completely dominate it on the track, due to the size and weight of the H2R though. Also, I'll mention the MSRP of the H2R is $55,000 USD

      I'm not speaking with any authority, but the electronics allows you to take certain aspects of the bike that would otherwise be incredibly difficult or impossible to do otherwise.
      If not that, it simplifies the process so that you do not have to spend hours upon hours of tuning and refining in a shop. It allows the rider to completely focus on riding and doing what they need to in order to go the fastest they possibly can while still being safe.
      If the rider has 300hp but can only utilize 2/3 of that power due to having to regulate their acceleration to avoid too much rise on the front wheel, then that's power that's lost and from my point of view, is wasting potential gains from the machine.
      This is just how I interpret the use of sophisticated electronic packages in racing vehicles or sports vehicles. I could be wrong of course, I'm certainly no expert on the topic.

    I watched many "reviews" on the new r1 and the real problem is that all these "reviewers" say about the same phrases, go by only positive points rule - like they going by the script written by Yamaha Press. I never tried to ride this new R1, but the first problem from the specs to me it is wheelbase - it is just too short wheelbase for 200HP bike. And this is serious issue. Not sure what kind of "smart person" there at Yamaha managed to push through short wheelbase idea, but it is probably first big mistake which will make this bike not as good as it could be. Second problem is cross plane crankshaft which is useless on the bikes below Motogp level as it brings zero real advantages and many problems from technological to drivability of this bike at low rev. on the street. Basically yamaha could save $ or make more HP from the same engine and make engine lighter just by using standard crank. I wonder was it the same person pushing for cross plain and short wheelbase? :)
