Part 10: • Vanilla Ice Has an Unr...
    --------
In this clip, Vanilla Ice spoke about his interactions with Eminem. He addressed Eminem's lines which were perceived by some as a diss, but Vanilla Ice viewed them as clever wordplay rather than an attack. Vanilla Ice also revealed that he doesn't focus on Eminem's race or anyone else's when assessing their rap talents. Regardless of Eminem's alleged shots at him, Vanilla Ice doesn't feel the need to retaliate or share any controversial comments about Eminem. He maintained that he paved the way for rappers like Eminem, a claim that Eminem wouldn't be able to deny without looking foolish. Further, Vanilla Ice revealed that he has remained relevant while other artists have faded away, thanks to platforms like UA-cam. He jokingly proposed the idea of a boxing match against Eminem but clarified that it was all in good fun and he has no real issues with the artist.

Vanilla Ice came afterwards. Plus he was a solo artist. He didnt abandon hip hop to do that punk rock bs like Beastie Boys did immediately after License to Ill. So dont try to diminsih Vanilla Ice's influence. Beastie Boys first album was just a Run DMC white rap group album. Vanilla Ice was a solo white artist who implemented dancing and balloon pants in his s&^^ like Hammer. So he was heavily influenced by Hammer. Not Beastie Boys

To be fair before Eminem, Vanilla Ice, there was one artist who tried to bridge the gap with new wave, hip hop, and rap, with the help of Fred Brathwaite or better known as Fab 5 Freddy, he was one who worked Debbie Harry of the band Blondie to incorporate some of the first rap lyrics, to be sung by a white female Artist in the song Rapture.

This revisionism of Ems career is crazy. Vanilla Ice made it harder for white rappers to get on. He was clowned on within hiphop. Em is on record about how hard he found it to get put on because he was white. Dre is on record saying he was told not to sign him because he was white. Granted his skin colour helped him after that, it hindered him before that. Em has credited white rappers of the past like beastie boys and 3rd Bass, thats who helped pave the way.

Cuz they're white and they look "cool" and some can actually rap. Macklemore beat Jay-Z, Kanye, Kendrick and Drake at the Grammys. Theres a reason the Beastie Boys, Vanilla Ice and Eminem can all go diamond. Because, they're white. The other guys like G-Eazy, Lil Dicky or Jack Harlow are just seen as dorks so of course being white isn't everything. but it for sure helps.

Actually, they claim that the first diss songs can be traced to 1971 with The Temptations, “superstar” which was about Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin leaving the band. And especially John Lennon in 1971 with “how do you sleep?” one of the most scathing attacks on Paul McCartney ever. Bob Dylan’s song, ballad of a thin man from 1965 was seen as in attack on Bryan Jones of the Rolling Stones.

Paul Wall is another guy that’s way off doing his own thing, actually from the hood but doesn’t try to really sell a hood image; PW is a dude who loves cars. Post Malone, gtfo. He’s an example of a culture vulture - white kid from the burbs, went to art school, had cornrows in his early days, even on that White Iverson Allen I was like keep my name out of your mouth, and finally he shits all over hiphop despite stealing hiphop elements. I get it, most of his fans don’t care because they’d do the same thing; it’s all music made by a white kid from the suburbs that’s targeting more white kids in the suburbs.

ICE ICE BABY all day all day over Slim Shady in everyway. Eminem is a one dimensional fake tough guy who sold his soul and will never be better then Vanilla Ice. He can't dance. He has no style. None of his albums are as good as Mind Blown or To The Extreme. Vanilla Ice has gone threw all. Eminem won't even box Vanilla Ice. Does does it all. Dancing with a broken arm, racing Motor Bikes and flying threw the air, Build houses that are of the most sought after, all while he's out crabbing and chilling with Greatness and Wes Kain his close buddies. He is from the true roots of Rap & Hip Hop where break dancing and beat boxing ruled on the corner boom boxes before CIA and gangster rap ruined the music scene. Vanilla Ice No. 1 of the white guys and Cool as Ice and Gold as Ice most of all. A Class Act Slim Sh*t only wishes he could carry himself to be! PERIOD.

Vanilla Ice should be much more recognized by the hip hop world publicly and how important he was to the movement. His influence is undeniable around the world, not just in the U.S., and I think he was and is very discriminated against for the mere fact that he is a white rapper, and there was a lot of anger with him for the fact that he was the first to get the number. one, not only on the hit lists, but in the world, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, etc. I am from Argentina and I would never have known about hip hop if it weren't for him.
I think he should have much greater recognition from the hip hop world and respect him as a peer and see him more as a guest in places like the BET TV Awards. etc In fact, he still raps and does tours with many artists from the 90s.
I thought this interview was very good and it has something of this intention that I'm talking about.
I have great respect for Vanilla Ice and how important he was in my life thanks to him. I discovered Hip Hop in the 90s when there was no internet, I just listened to what the DJs were playing on the radio in my country.

The only ones who really paved the way for Eminem were the Beastie Boys considering they were the first white pioneers in hip-hop of the golden age era of rap music. Truthfully I never thought Vanilla Ice was all that as there were a few good songs but he just wasn’t for me personally and also I am very very picky when it comes to white rappers too. I can also see it pisses a few other white rappers off that Eminem has always remained on top like no white rapper ever has but I also believe that his impact is the reason why we have so many white rappers now today than we ever have knowing how he proved he was able to make a name for himself his music is what opened the doors for so many white people . Hip-Hop was really originated started by black people, yes but also what I have seen is how people have come off to be very prejudiced towards others who aren’t black as Eminem was the one many have also disliked and trashed on since day one. He is also that one white rapper who has been trashed on still to this day. I never cared about the color of his skin as a few blacks have always made it an issue and I was impressed to know the dude had dope skills as he’s one of the best lyricist around.
