Extraordinary performance of this beloved oratorio. The soloists were remarkable-the contra tenor (sounded like a contralto-just amazing) and the soprano in particular. I loved the soprano’s embellishments! Light, very Baroque, and creative-sounded spontaneous! Great orchestra, as well. Thank you, all, and Merry Christmas!

But, now going on 82, I light a candle and sing every word from my heart in tears as I listen on You Tube! Love just burst from my heart!
In spite of all the nonsense going on in the world causing such suffering, the Messiah brings the Truth, the Answer, the Hope, the Love, the Glory!

It's Christmas Day. The family are all sitting around wacthing Christmas tele. It is cold and dark outside; dripping wet wth the driving rain of a British winter. I am ensconced in the corner, near the fireplace enjoying UA-cam on my earphones whilst eating Christmas Pudding with the luxuriously endulgent mix of custard, cream and melting ice-cream poured over the top and a small glass of Sherry to wash it down. I am comforted by the Nativity Scene as it fades in and out of Handel's musical feast and I am bowled over by the discovery of Eric Jurenas's wonderful expressions. They manifest as a purity of soul that augment his amazing talents of a man able to reach such delectible heights of angelic strain.

Great comment - as this work vastly transcends the artform within which it is presented. It is, in fact, worship and praise for our creator. Kierkegaard - as his salutation for his most important and spiritually uplifting work "Purity of Heart" - wrote of a needlewoman who would set aside the most important part of her evening to sew the most splendid alter clothe with which she would - upon completion - pray and worship on bended knee at church. He concludes that it would be the greatest oversight of all to observe what was only there to be seen; the wonderful, well planned and rendered artistry. For it is the needlewoman's humble intent to offer to her creator her most precious reserve from the deepest part of her soul. She prepares - with all that she has in skill and time - an offering meant for The Most High.
Handel achieved an extraordinary composition here - but it is a far greater act of prayer, praise and worship, if we - in humility - join with it in this way.

This music was inspired by Him and would not have been possible without Jesus Christ the fully man, fully God that took off His Glory and became flesh to tabernacle among us. He then bore our sins upon Himself and died a horrific death so that we may have everlasting life. All we need to do is ask Him sincerely to show Himself to us and believe. Also for the written words from the Bible across the screen to follow and sing for ourselves. I am recommending this performance to many of my Australian friends. I am so inspired by every word sung so beautifully from verses both in the Old and New Testaments. I really believe that many people on hearing these beautiful words and music will give their lives to our Heavenly Father, our Saviour His Son, Jesus, and be lead in these very difficult and challenging times by His Holy Spirit. The music amazingly written by the talented Handel in two to three weeks; lifting us from darkness to light, from hopelessness to hope everlasting! How could we not give our lives to follow our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is amazing in this day and age that such a beautiful, informed, professional performance is available to anyone with a computer at any time of day or night. When I was a child one would have to wait until some "classical music radio station" broadcast major masterpieces complete, and be home at that time, or, at times of holidays, maybe special TV presentations. Or you'd have to take a long trip to a comprehensive "record store" and buy an expensive boxed set of LP records (still have). (Let alone tickets for a live performance!) But the world is so changed. Anyone to whom anyone can send the URL, or to whom UA-cam suggests it (and they _know_ ), can hear this as many times as they please, at any time of day or night, for free, with the beautiful video of the artists and venue. Radio and physical recordings are, 100 years later, obsolete. In this challenging time of sickness, turmoil, and death, this is truly a blessing we should count. Bravi, ABS and soloists!
