This performance has the best "he was despised" on UA-cam. It's chilling and tragic. The alto sells it in her face and voice. I keep coming back to it because it's so moving.
The Ouverture was so beautifully and transparently played that I heard intricacies in Handel's counterpoint of which I was never before aware....and I may have played Messiah 30-50 times in my life!
The saying less is more comes to mind when listen to this performance. It goes to show that you don't need a five hundred voice choir to make this music come to life. The clarity of the choir and orchestra in so appreciated. I also enjoyed the upbeat tempo of many of the choruses. So many renditions are so painfully slow, not this one. This is wonderful performance that I shall return to often.
It IS the most beautiful piece ever written and of course the subject is of THE most importance. May God continue to reveal Himself to you through this wonderful work.
....all these beautiful, young musicians... performing what one might deduce, the most spectacular performance, of Handel's Messiah..... magnificent leadership under such a young-looking conductor..... Thank you! If you can provide me w quality DVD of THIS performance, I'd like to pay.❤
Many thanks for posting this excellent performance. The original posting was suddenly withdrawn, but I suppose by popular demand, returned months later. But with intrusive, harsh commercials that damaged this presentation. It's jarring and sacrilegious to interrupt The Messiah with commercials, so this is my new regular favourite.
absolutely PHENOMENONAL! This is an example how Jesus Christ makes all things NEW! He takes dead sheep guts and makes beautiful music with the strings of violins, cello, and bass to glorify Himself... and presents us with such harmonic and gracious symphony. THANKS BE TO GOD !
I believe it was the 2012 festival of sacred music held annually at the Abbey of La Chaise-Dieu in the Auvergne. The tomb in the church is Clement VI who reigned from 1342-1352.
Delphine Galou is tremendous; the best alto soloist I've heard in this work. Parenthetically, if all suicidal people would listen to Messiah this season, there'd probably be a lot fewer suicides.
Collegium 1704 Baroque Orchestra & Collegium Vocale 1704 Vàclav Luks, Conductor Hana Blazikova - soprano Delphine Galou - alto Markus Brutscher - tenor Marlan Krejcik - bass L’abbaye de la Chaise-Dieu, Auvergne, France April 27, 2011 - This performance is so good that it is practically impossible to find any imperfections.
Perfection Personified. All other performances of this work are untidy, and lacking in technical perfection and the ornamentation sung by the main vocals is off-key - false for the most part and is certainly not technically on point - lacks precision. This performance ticks ALL the boxes of what Handel would have expected in how his music should be performed.

For the Christian this is only a foretaste of what we will sing in Heaven to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mee eens zijn!
Ja, dit is bijzonder en genezend.
My Christmas is not complete without listening to this performance of Messiah multiple times each year. It's fabulous!!! Thank you.
One of the best, if not the Best, of all performances. Each voice is just perfect. Tree-mendous!
The best performance of the Messiah I know! This performance lifts my spirits.

I agree

I LISTEN TO THIS NIGHTLY FOR YEARS ON. THEE ABSOLUTE BEST
The most beautiful performance of The Messiah ❤❤❤ I have ever heard. I listen to it every day❤❤❤
Handel himself was so caught up in the hallelujah chorus he thought he could see heaven opened and angels praising God.
I totally agree. Solo singers are prodigious. Not every day, but everyday other pieces to rehearse leave the time for a treat !
This is absolutely my favorite performance! It is transcendent!
The most glorious and talented rendition I could find! What a joy for the ear! Thank you to all performers!💝
One of the best recent performances of this essential oratorio. Thank you for sharing!!!!
Beyond MAGNIFICENT!
How a single man could've composed such a masterpiece of strings, horns, and reeds with a choir...
AMAZING!
THANKS BE TO GOD!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Divinely inspired indeed.

Delphine Galou 18:12 I love this woman and his voice. Great performance.
Best rendition of a classic. Balance perfect, technique perfect, conductor appropriate animation, soloists heavenly! What more can be said?❤❤
The gold standard of Messiah performances.
EXACTLY 💯
So clean
THIS IS THEE BEST ONE EVER. THE ONLY ONE THAT'S BEAUTIFULLY PERFECT. EVEN THE SINGERS
Unbelievable, this amazing piece of music. Maybe made in heaven....❤
Thank you for reuploading this recording
Handel's Messiah makes my eyes water. I have no shame for that.
Nor should you!!!. Its absolutely beautiful!!
Very true.. It touches my soul
Of course it does. You'd be a spiritual brick if it didn't touch you deeply.
When played, This is a little bit of heaven in your house. Utterly divine! 1:33:24

Terrific work !
Never heard of this, bought two tickets, taking my mother for Christmas

Blessed by this fine ensemble. There was a most appreciative demontrative audience
I love❤ this particular recording of Handel's Messiah! It has no ads.😂😂
One of the very few renditions of the Messiah on youtube where the singers and conductor seem to “get” the words they’re singing!
After listening to over a dozen recordings it strikes me that these Czech singers are more clear in English than many native English speakers.
The entire story of Christ epitomized in a single production.
AMAZING!
I think i must listen this until Jesus return... Impossible to leave.
It would be wonderful to see Jesus' return would it not?
A one-of-a-kind performance!
Восхитительно! БлагоДарю!!!!!!!

Are you sure of your description? For me, it's Vaclav Luks and the Collegium 1706?
you are very correct, I stand corrected. Thanks!
I CONFIRM!Waclav Lutz and Collègium 1704! Very talented renditions!
@@StratoArt I'll pay for a DVD of this entire performance. Thank You!

Somewhere in France.
Beautiful.
An absolutely beautiful piece of art. It’s a shame that you recently monetized it. Now the performance is broken up by distracting commercials…😢
BRAVO!!!!!
Wunderschön
How may I purchase a dvd of this? It is marvelous!
Even an non-believer and an opponent of Christianity like me can appreciate this incredible performance of Handel's Messiah!
MY MOTHER HAS BEEN PLAYING THIS TO ME AND MY SIBLINGS SINCE WE WHERE LITTLE CHILDREN AND THIS IS THEEEEE ABSOLUTE BEST ONE EVER.
I have no ill will towards you. I will give you no cause to make you an "opponent' of Jesus Christ. God be with you.
Any copies available for purchase?
Who are the performers? I love this recording, but don't anything about the ensemble or soloists.
Ah la terrible Delphine Galou; terrible, c'est sa voix !

Please let a bass or baritone sing "But Who May Abide", and please add trumpets and kettledrums to "For Unto Us A Child Is Born"!

great singers/soloists in this one, video terrible though :)
