This is an incredibly beautiful story of your grandfather, father and you...thank you.x
I would love to go through his entire sketchbook.
For most of my adult life I have believed that everyone has at least one book inside their mind, the book of their own life. A person's life story may seem mundane or irrelevant, but to your decendants it would be a treasure. The artwork was a tremendous bonus to this artistic family, but simply having knowledge of their forefather's journey through life is the irreplaceable relic that can be passed on in the future. I wish I could read my Dad's book as I hardly knew him, but in writing my own book those little bits of memories can be passed on. The trick is finding time and using methods that have some permanence (one fire could have destroyed these folks' treasure!), but our computer age makes this much easier. That said, I have lost much writing to broken computers and obsolete memory storage, so must keep updating and have multiple backups in different places. To anyone that reads this comment or saw this video, I say "Go write your book!"
This is so graceful. Thanks for sharing this story.
Publish it!! So
This is FANTASTIC. Starting a memory book today...
Amazing. What a legacy. Inspiring and hilarious (cardboard gangsters! LOL Totally something I'd do). I need to do something like this.
Please publish this it’s beautiful
Many of us have used the term “in the book of life” figuratively throughout our existences. This beautiful work of art married with personal history truly is just that. What a magnificent treasure and legacy for this lucky family to have. 💓
I loved it...I'm 68..I paint and I'm inspired to write my memoirs like your grandfather...
I can think of no better gift to leave your grandchildren. What treasures!
What a great story to stumble upon (when at times, there seems little to smile at elsewhere). Thank you for the brief respite. I was only sad it was so brief...would love to see more.
Amazing story. We should all have a memory book like that. I absolutely love it.
made me cry a little bit out of pure inspiration, thank you : )
That’s amazing, should be published.
I would give this a 1,000,000 thumbs up and come back and do it again. Thank you so much for sharing a little glimpse of Byrons memories!!!
I’m crying this is so beautiful ♥️🌸
It would be great if you published some of his stories along with his artwork. I would definitely buy it. :) Thank you for sharing your grandfather's story with us!
I’m comment number 84. Wow! I’m so glad you found his journals and artworks. My passion is keeping memories in many forms. Journals. Art journals. Whatever it takes. I think I’m kind of a nut about it really. My daughter is like me. We inspire one another. We talk about how amazing and priceless it would be to find a diary or journal that a great grandparent or grandparent wrote. Wow! To get a glimpse into that life. So we’re journaling in all sorts of ways for our own future generations. Thank you so much for sharing your grandfather’s story. And you tell it in such an amazing way. I’m inspired!
