an artist can have a slew of hits but until they get "that one song" they are wandering in the wilderness. One listen and you KNOW. This was the one for Joan. It connected with all kinds of people from all walks of music. The way you spot "the one" for a songwriter is when EVERYONE wants to cover it. And it's gut wrenching and candid beyond belief. You KNOW there was truth in the story. If she denies it she's wasting her breath. That's what music does: truth lays bare.
"Um not the sort of person who falls in n quicky out of love but to u I gave my affection right from the start"words well spoken so sweet Joan is one of the best singers I've ever come a cross. Her voice her singing style is Unique🔥❣️👌.SHE IS THE BEST OF THE BEST🌟🌟🌟🔥❣️👌
Quite possibly the most underrated artist to grace this world. Amazing talent studio and live, and yet mostly unheard of. How is this even possible!!! SMH.
Like George Michael, lyrics -honest and soulfully felt, conveying the message behind the song which is always deeper than the story being told- JA is masterful. Saw her at Berkeley Greek back in 1983 when she was promoting her new album....it was packed and fantastic. The next year, she was hospitalized for exhaustion, and that tells you about her performances that year! Amazing! And isn't it sad that the no-talent (straight) music industry (radio) have tried to pigeonhole her as a blues artist. She's a lesbian. Her lyrics are about her female lovers. Lesbians have crowded venues for decades to hear her sing. We know all her lyrics, and we know the passion. Thank you for so much!
Joan is SUCH a truthful poet & song writer. She tells her emotions with such a translucent quality - her open honesty in her lyrics can make me slmost cry.
I am listening to this song again after years. It's about the difficulties of being non monogamous. Now, in this climate, it's obvious. Its in Me myself I too.
This is wonderful. THank you so much.
And what a band she had!
Was soo very privileged to see her Sydney 1978 🙏🏻🎶💫 still listening in 2023 she is such a wonderful artist

She isn't under-rated in my book. She's a terrific artist, guitarist, and oh, how she sings! Masterful!
It's such a crime 😏🥺...she really is one of the best to ever do it!
