  • Cruising on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW) comes with some challenges, particularly when it comes to narrow channels and skinny depths. South Carolina can be tough, given its diurnal - i.e., twice daily - tides, which run from two to four feet on an average day.
On this trip we met a tow with a barge on a channel that was so narrow and shallow that the tow captain kindly drove his barge onto the mud to make room for us to pass without going aground. We've encountered hundreds of large tows over the years and every one of the captains has been friendly, helpful, and patient. We truly appreciate them allowing us to play in their workspaces.
We had a bit of a hiccup with our main engine's starter battery bank, but were helped by The Vessel Guru, Conor Smith (info below) and had a great day of cruising after just a brief delay to sort things out. We're grateful for Conor's work and after-the-project service, and he has our highest recommendation for those who need a top-notch electrical guy.
Oh, and we found Barbie's boat. Who knew she lived in South Carolina? 😉
As always, we're grateful that you've come along with us. We appreciate you.
Guy and Vickie, and Sailor too!

Pretty much, LOL. While in coastal waters dolphins often come along the boat or swim in our bow waves - it's the best!

Wait… did you go back to Georgia to meet with the electrician?
Never mind. I figured it out on my own. After a second viewing. Lol

The electrician (Conor Smith) is actually out of Jacksonville, FL. He was doing some work for someone up in Georgia and we were lucky enough to have him help us out.

Seriously, how does anyone start a civil war on a great beach day?
    Blows my mind. 🫤
