I knew when I saw Catman open a can of Vienna sausages, poured out the juice right under his stand, grabbed one and ate it, all while he was steadily scanning the woods for deer… I had to like and subscribe to this dude’s channel!
Catman is one of the few hunters that don’t have to have a pile of bait or greenfield to hunt over and kills plenty of deer, also he don’t spend the entire video whispering crap that nobody wants to hear. Catman is a true Deer hunter 👍 Hammer Down Catman
What has always worked and killed deer no problem so why change … the guys buying the next new bow every year are just falling victim to the industry… If it killed deer 🦌 🎯 a decade ago why would it be any different ?
@@bill74ishI have a Fred bear epic extreme….has killed dozens of deer. Bought it all set up in a case with 6 Arrows, release..etc 18 years ago from my buddy for $100 after my ex wife pawned my Hoyt for $10. 😂. After awhile I just liked the idea of not upgrading
Met Catman the other day at a gas station. Legit had no idea just struck up a conversation cuz he was another dude in camo going out to the deer woods… super nice dude for sure and damn good content
y'all need to get Catman and the THP boys to come south the first of the year for a Southern Public Land challenge. see how those fellas do. THP boys have struggled in the past down here. maybe y'all can help them learn how to hunt
@brandonbrown6158 I know Catman is from the south. you're right Aaron did get a nice buck in Ga. but they struggled in MS and Alabama from what I remember
There’s certain acorn trees that deer prefer over others. Every year it’s the same. They will hit certain ones but once the preferred starts to fall they will leave what they have to feed on the preferred. We believe some may be more sweet than others some may be more acidic and bitter. I’ve grown up hunting acorns and have learned to hunt by feed trees and natural browse.
I just want to find deer in general. Bucks are obviously better to get, but I think understanding them in general helps to find good odds of filling a tag.
I watch many UA-cam hunting videos, and it doesn’t get much better than the Southern Outdoorsmen and Catman. Thanks to all of you for putting out this very informative content that is so relatable to my hunting in SC.
How many times in this video and in his own videos does Catman talk about "just poking around" which translates into boots on the ground after season, before season and after a hunt.
I used to have time to hunt the way he describes, it was great. Saw lots of does, never nailed down how to get on bucks though... Caught monsters on trail cam but never able to get in the spots without getting busted. Guess that's why they like it. Anyway life happened now i cant go much anymore and i get skunked whenever i do
Get an app on your phone and id a couple of them then after a few times they will be stuck in your head and you will automatically be able to id them just by a glance
Ive killed a ton of deer with a bow in my life and Ive always bern really good at getting on older deer. I hunt very similar to Garrett but, cat-man is a bit different and does one thing similar to me. He adapts to situations. My man kills and catches anything anywhere he goes after. lol. My man is just a straight expert woodsman. Cat man and Garrett are among a few of you tubers i watch. Its not how they hunt its their attitude open minds that separates them from most of those midwest so called Experts. There is no condescending or ego with their personality.
An SMZ is a Streamside Management Zone. It’s the hardwoods along ditches, creeks and streams that timber companies leave when curing timber to manage erosion control.
Sure, sometimes you can harvest a deer that morning and another that evening in the same spot. You can over hunt a spot tho, especially if you get busted more than once or twice. I like to have several great spots that I can rotate between depending on wind and pressure.
There are so many commercials in this video it takes twice as long to watch. I can’t even get through it, which sucks because it seems like there might be good info
We have a lot of deer down south. Example: in Alabama you can kill a doe a day during the whole season and 3 bucks. So legally you could harvest 132 deer per season in Alabama
@thesouthernoutdoorsmen what ??. That's awesome! We get 2 antlered total bow and rifle combined! And 4 does total including bonus i believe it is.Dang you all know how to make laws lol
We will get that fixed! Seems like the merch and woodsman wire links are currently working but the others are. Thanks for letting us know! Also thanks for watching 👍

I love these conversations and podcasts. But Catman is my absolute favorite UA-camr.
The Catman knows how! He’s the best hunting show on U Tube
So happy I found this podcast. Straight to the point with knowledgeable hosts who know how to ask the right questions!
Catman is the goat! I love how he uses a bear single cam bow with a whisker biscuit.
Them old Bows are legit. I use a old 1998 Mathews

Catman the legend
If I see Busch Latte’s on the ground I know Catman has been there. Honestly good info!
Catman my favorite. Even though I live in the Panhandle of Okl0ahoma, I learn so much from that guy. Thank you for having him on your show!
Awesome podcast one of my favorites yall did a great job asking questions to pull all that knowledge and experience outta Jonathan/Catman.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Catman is one of the few guys out there that I really enjoy. Real world but a predator.
Late drop persimmon trees boys. I’m in Arkansas. Mine are just now dropping.
This is the most informative video I’ve seen in a while
We are glad you enjoyed this episode of the show! Thanks for watching!

Catman hunts in the south 😂 and thp have been down south multiple times and killed in the south.
@brandonbrown6158 I know Catman is from the south. you're right Aaron did get a nice buck in Ga. but they struggled in MS and Alabama from what I remember
Someone skipped geography class
Come hunt central North Carolina flat lands 😂
I love thp but they really don't want to come down here to hunt twice as hard for deer half the size

I believe I seen video of this guy years ago in north Alabama getting out boat and walking woods killing nice one
This is a great video and question as a new hunter
Thanks for the great info keep it coming
I just want to find deer in general. Bucks are obviously better to get, but I think understanding them in general helps to find good odds of filling a tag.
As a new hunter this really helps me learn.
That's Great to hear! There are others episodes we've done here as well that will help you out a lot.

Man, that’s awesome to hear! We appreciate that and appreciate you watching!
Believe it or not you got a mountain man elk hunter here learning stuff, long drive to whitetail, all I want is meat!
Thanks for watching man!
I’m trying to figure out how to find deer bedding areas. And episode to recommend or tips?

Dang Catman… world wide!

I like the photos of deer on the wall behind you, what are those/where did you get them?
Our studio art is from Ryan Kirby!

How did he learn the trees tho what was his method to memorizing the oaks

Explains why the ridge full of chestnut acorns were uneaten. 🤔
CATMAN!!!
Honeysuckle earlier season along with cudzoo.
Have you ever hunted around a cheekapin tree
Ive killed a ton of deer with a bow in my life and Ive always bern really good at getting on older deer.

Sounds like you are just jealous that the Midwest has the best deer hunting lol
@@osar2870 yea just a bit, how cant you be bro.
Id be killing giants like that every year.
What's smz?

Do deer come back to a spot after you harvest a deer
Sure, sometimes you can harvest a deer that morning and another that evening in the same spot. You can over hunt a spot tho, especially if you get busted more than once or twice. I like to have several great spots that I can rotate between depending on wind and pressure.
Thank you good sir

That UA-cam ceo woman who just died was responsible for that. They doubled the amount of ads, greedy MFers. Doesn't benefit the video creators too!
Then pay for premium…
@@williamharvey9217 Do you pay for premium ?
How the hell you have enough tags to kill this much game?
We have a lot of deer down south. Example: in Alabama you can kill a doe a day during the whole season and 3 bucks. So legally you could harvest 132 deer per season in Alabama
@thesouthernoutdoorsmen what ??. That's awesome! We get 2 antlered total bow and rifle combined! And 4 does total including bonus i believe it is.Dang you all know how to make laws lol
In TN we get 3 does a day the entire season and 2 buck tags for the season. You could literally kill 21 does in a single week if you wanted
@BradsAcousticMusic if Missouri ever done it I'd need a smokehouse and someone else to clean em..fun parts over after they drop lol
Maryland you can have up to 30 does lol it’s wild
I don’t know how catman does it but the guy has killed more deer than anyone I know and I’m 38
Catmam Takes No Prisoners
No doubt!
Pecans
This dude is my twin😅
The red head don’t let other guy talk much
links do not work
We will get that fixed! Seems like the merch and woodsman wire links are currently working but the others are. Thanks for letting us know! Also thanks for watching 👍
Got them fixed!
Step 1: don't have a job and hunt every single day of the season
That can help lol
