The way he explained thermals and hunting above or below the deer is the simplest way I’ve ever heard it and I understand it better than any explanation I’ve hear simple and to the point. Thank you.
I was honored to meet you two guys at the expo before the show in the lobby in Bham! I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to come back my 18 month daughter was well.. being an 18 month old. lol. Had so many more questions. I’ve been dropping your videos to all my Floridian hunters and new Bama friends. Keep up the solid work gentlemen!!
@@JB-JB-JB-JB it was good to speak with you before the show started! We completely understand but we are glad you made it up to the show. Thank you for sharing the show with buddies!
Vernon FL, you boys need go lookup the movie Vernon FL from 1981 filmed with locals and hunting turkeys there in FL. Got some great ol southern nostalgia in it.
I hunt the river bottoms of East Texas, probably pretty close to the same climate as Austin in Florida. The old timers on my lease wanted nothing to do with that area of the lease, because it floods. But I like hunting wood ducks as well, so I was all over it. After 2 years I started pulling big bucks out of there every season. My PB is a 156" 10 point that weighed 211 lbs on the hoof, which is an absolute stud for my area. That dark swampy, cypress filled river bottom is my heaven. I hunt on a transition from the sloughs to a ridge(about 10' elevation difference) with an oak flat. What Austin says here hits with me, I can agree with most of it. I don't care about the moon though, I love when people don't hunt because "its a full moon, they're only movin at night". River bottom swamp donkeys are the best. lol. Good Stuff.
This guy sounds so much like Richard Faught. I really appreciate how you guys are able to get such a diversity of people and hunting styles since there is such a diversity of hunting opportunity in the south.
Appreciate all the informative interviews you guys do man, y'all have helped me a lot. What part of MS are you guys from? I was raised in Rankin county (florence) but I live in Nashville now. Subbed.
@@thesouthernoutdoorsmen Ahhhh lol, for whatever reason i thought you guys lived in MS. Not sure why I thought that. Maybe it was just the terrain from some of your videos and all the evergreens/pine trees/cedars that made me assume that.
Start trad with a black hunter or some other cheap amazon takedown at 30-35# then progress thru draw weights until you get where you want and then get the expensive bow you like.Do not start out too heavy. The lighter the better to begin with.
I must beg to differ on being able to get close to deer up north. Up north, they bugger out if they even think you’re within a mile. Midwest is where you can walk right into the bedding.
I'm here in the Arkansas River Valley. North of the Quchitas and South of the Ozarks. How can I learn and identify the food sources for whitetails? On the public land I hunt, there are GIANTS and several mature bucks that are elusive to most hunters here. This public land is what I would call Water Oak country. So in my opinion, their food source is red oak acorns via the water oaks. What else do they eat that I can watch for, here in the Arkansas River Valley? Thx
How many huge alligators do you see hunting river bottoms like this in Florida? We hunt near Vernon once a year and there some big gators just wondering if you see them too.
From what I seen mature box will not come into your PayPal to eat they'll come in smell it see what's going on and then they move on that's where your salt lick comes in you don't necessarily have to have bait constantly just got to have the deer in that area coming in the bigger bucks will come in and check on it you just got to be in the stand
Why do you guys act so skeptical of so many of your guests? He's dropping tons of his PROVEN knowledge to yall and the only reaction yall can muster is a silent awkward stare and a skeptical "mmkay"? Just seems like with a lot of yall's guests you're trying pry out an answer that either doesnt exist or aligns better with your personal theories rather than acknowledging their experience.
You are watching the SOUTHERN outdoorsman lol. 99.999999999 percent of shows and information on UA-cam are of northern or western locations. It’s nice to see some guys put a little focus on the SOUTH.
Have you guys not realized how few views you get on thes 90min + videos??? C'mon fellas, I like you guys but ain't nobody sitting through all that with yall just talking
@@thesouthernoutdoorsmen I agree with what someone else said however. A couple northern boys on would be awesome! I can only apply so much Florida man knowledge to my West Virginia woods. Regardless, great podcast and channel. I don't think I've found a channel that goes so in depth in every facet of deer hunting. Mark Kenyon and Wired to Hunt is great but I use it more as a weekly assessor. This stuff here is timeless! Alright, I'll quit sucking up lol. Good luck. 🤘
@@loganmaddocks4703 we appreciate you watching! Have you watched the two episodes with Drew Atkinson that came out last fall on here? It would directly apply to the area you hunt it sounds.
I listen through all the time. If I don’t finish in one sitting I’ll pick back up where I left off. Don’t be hating on the length these are my go to podcasts and I don’t want them to change.

The Nw Florida and south Alabama guys are the ones I'll listen to the whole thing
Experience and time in the woods is what it boils down to. Other than that it's up to you to lean your spots and having good luck

Country boy tick lol
Came here to say that 😂
Kickass to hear something tips on hunting in Florida. Thank you.

How about you find a deer crossings that look like dirt bike trails that's been set there for over 100 years go off that bud

This guy admits to downing trees on his boat. On public land. Imma bet that ain’t aloud.

They are already downed trees, he is just clearing access
Lol using a chainsaw on public 😂😂 not gunna happen in Oklahoma
Get some more northern guys please
