    New Linux user here. a few things I have found that I absolutely need:
    Input Remapper
    Proton-GE
    Obsidian (I used this while I was on Windows still but this for sure counts)
    LibreOffice
    Lutris
    Dolphin
    mpv
    DeadBeef
    Input remapper is essential, i swap a key on my very not-programmable-friendly keyboard and it works seamlessly to do that.

    • @BlackMage_01
      @BlackMage_01 Місяць тому

      oh and I also need Wine-GE and proper VS Code. I tried Codium but it's not the same. it's still fantastic though.

      @@BlackMage_01 Input remapper is my absolute most important gaming app, as I use gaming keypads that I customize per game. Its what made it feasible to completely move to Linux for gaming.

      there's a way to set keyboard maps that's been in linux near since the beginning. i put garuda on my new laptop, it has a mouse remapper built in, the kind that maps buttons to keys anyway, so... which of these things have you failed to find replacements for?

    I like that Matt is himself and spicy in these.
    If he restricted his calories by 500, and lifted 45 min a day, he would look like an NFL lineman.

    Re-encode the audio files by pushing them through a volume normalizing app and listen to them afterwards.

    For me I don't care about internet of spyware devices like a nest thermostat, my heat pump has a thermostat already.
    VR is the only thing Linux can't do which I need it to do fast and reliably.
    I would PAY for a high quality Virtual Desktop / ALVR spin for Quest Pro/3.

    Is this a re-upload? It seems it came in as 30fps video this time, which allowed me to watch in 1080p now, even though the h264ify browser extension is active and blocking 60fps video, nice! o)

    This is probably not covered in this video but in another video you said your Plex is a locally installed and not docker. Why don't you use the docker version?

    • @TheLinuxCast
      @TheLinuxCast  Місяць тому +1

      All of my docker containers are on one vm, the Plex is on another vm with my nfs stuff and I don't use docker there. Not a great reason, but it made sense at the time. I may change that though as a docker container will be easier to keep up to date.

      Then hyprland has a bug, which gets immediately solved, but will land in debian after 69 years
      Truly, such an experience ahahah
      Not even joking. I literally had to install the git version, instead of the latest stable release, since it still has problems lol

    Tbf. This channel hasn't ever really seemed to be an "open source" specific channel ever. It is always linux themed, but thats not the same as being pro open source.
    Like dt's channel. I would definitely say he is someone that is actually pro free and open source software and anti proprietary software.
    Having guys here talking about having google nest productions in their home, apple products. Someone that cared about free software wouldn't be caught dead using that stuff. The proprietary browsers are pretty minimal in comparison.
    All that said. I'm not the type of person to get actually upset seeing people use proprietary junk that collects and sells your info, i just would never use it myself.

    So .... having a gf (Tyler) renders you an unworthy traitor to the Linux cause - while being married (Drew) is ok? Does that imply that for married men their proud and independent lives are over anyway, so they are accepted back into the community?
    Q: My husband is married, uses Arch with the best of them but refuses to be part of any sort of Linux community, doesn't even tell anybody that btw ... So what about a married woman who happily uses Manjaro since 2014? Can I be called a Linux user despite my obvious flaws?
