Same. These CoD pros sound like spoiled brats on this stream tbh. Parasite calling for pros to sit out of the CDL is absolutely moronic, and extremely easy to say for someone who is not in the league. Activision is one of the largest companies in the gaming space. You need a level headed adult with critical thinking skills to represent the players and their best interests.
I completely agree with everyone when they said the league NEEDS to start in December. The CDL will get so many new fans if they had events closer to CODs launch
Ben saying covid effected orgs from growing is very far off. It's E-Sports for a reason. Optic grew from internet content not actual events or being tied to any city.
Exactly, bens arguments is off bcuz you could have a Lan anywhere and it’s always gonna be 80% optic crowd, so not much room to grow their brand there, and if new people get into comp, the only people the stream and produce content is always optic so that’s who they’ll most likely watch and become fans off, teams needs to start making content and some do but there’s no one to promote it cuz no one from their team streams or has a brand to bring in views, I saw a LAG video only cuz of zoomaa reaction to it but if not for that I’d have no idea LAG made content, and the video barely got like 5k views and the LAG players never stream so aye no growth in that brand, that’s just one example, other teams don’t do anything or the players
Actable Changes that devs could make to comp for vanguard specifically 1. Swap out squad spawns with classic spawn logic for comp game types and maps only 2. Add the option to delete the wood walls/windows/doors for comp 3. Disable tac sprint all together to slow down pace and settle the auto tac debate 4. Actively update the CDL rules in game to reflect the updated rules That’s just a start that players go could give to the orgs, it’s not ideal but the realistically all they could do right now
Honestly hate that Zini said that fans would lose out when in reality it’s just the pros not wanting to lose money I know for a fact that the cod community would love if they take a stand for a better game & a better system so we could enjoy such a better game & everything
I can only speak for myself honestly, but for me I was a huge fan in college and during COVID but now as an adult that works full time I just don’t have the time or energy to give a shit about competitive COD or the league anymore, especially when it’s the same BS every year. After all these years of waiting for things to change I just couldn’t care less anymore which is sad. This episode is the first cod thing I’ve seen in my UA-cam feed in months and I used to watch streams like everyday

I agree with aches. Our standard for what a good map is so extremely low if we consider Moscow from Cold War and Arsenal from Bo4 good maps ... Jesus .. we Really haven’t had a great map Pool in years .. probably bo3 or AW
They don’t care about making the game better they cater to the noobs the kids that can’t aim always adding weird stuff like: riot shields, shotguns, stupid perks and dumb grenades like they don’t care about anything other than release sales. If they built around comp then cod would come back to life. Think about all the OG good maps terminal, highrise, raid, standoff. They were still loved by the “casuals” and played in the comp scene. Guns, maps, perks, streaks, game modes the whole game would be better! They need to make their “MW2.0” last 2-3 years so they can catch up instead of rushing stuff out the door every year. They are just a money hungry company and they only cater to the noobs it sucks and it’s sad. Also S/O Tom and The Flank
I changed my mindset about playing COD to be honest. I'm studying and working for 11-12 hours a day. Whenever I get home I just want to chill and shoot things. I've never been in the casual mindset as much as I am right now and I really enjoy the game. It's sad that this game can't be competitive but I think that's just the reality we're in. I wish there would be a way to know you're in the good old days, before you actually left them.
No ranked, no leaderboards, can just dashboard and not have your stats effected leads me to just play Halo now and it's so fun. il dabble in the new WZ map but yeah looks like I'm a casual now too lol
Live events and engagements being a struggle because of covid is a crutch. I’ve been like 15 crowds of 15-50 thousand and literally no issues. There is no excuse to not have full Lans this year
I think that it sounds like the owners of these franchises need to get this legally involved cause if their putting in 25mil$ they should have a legal right to at least have a comp team like courage said involved. Imagine paying 25$ mil dollars and having no say so how you can run your franchise for your league thats legitmate for preparing for the new title coming and are getting no correspondance for the game your competing in that youve essentially already paid for. I just think thats the only way to maybe apply any pressure on them to make the cdl better.

343 hired multiple former pros to test Halo Infinite’s multiplayer and you see how incredible that game has turned out on the multiplayer side and the revival of the competitive scene. All that’s needed is for these ex-pros to extend an olive branch to these studios and offer their services legitimately. A play test one month before launch is useless, they need to be involved in the process from the beginning of each game’s development.
Not only that Competitive is Good for Halo but for Casual Players, Halo Infinite has been the best since Halo Reach. Last time Cod Competitive and Casual has been good was Black Ops 3
Exactly, like the amount of people I see taking Doug’s side is blowing my mind. The dude actually cares for the game and wanted to be good and you just have Doug over here sitting relaxing playing a dog water and unfinished game that he for some reason enjoys.
I'm not gonna lie, Ben pisses me off in these conversations. Even though he denies it, he blatantly makes excuses for the devs and publisher when the game is absolutely awful in every way. There have been structural problems for years in the cod competitive scene that could be fixed instantly by a competent studio. HAVE A RANKED PLAYLIST OUT ON DAY 1. FUCKING PERIOD POINT BLANK. It's so far past the point of giving them a pass or making excuses. It's 100% unacceptable. Having said all that, at this point, yes the pros and owners should band together and create a list of things that need to be fixed generally speaking in the game and games going forward. But I'm not convinced that will do anything at all. So good luck with the clueless developers.
He’s playing devils advocate, he brings up the opposing points and defends them, but this allows for the other to rip into it, just strengthens the argument

FANTASTIC EPISODE WE NEED MORE LIKE THIS CALLING OUT THE LEAGUE AND THE DEVS. It’s like they don’t see the true potential of competitive cod if everything is done with half a Brain or done right
One of the best Flanks despite the Ben announcement and negative comments about Vanguard. This just needed to be addressed in a public discussion. The Flank is a perfect platform for this.
Doug makes this talk show so much more interesting with his takes on things. They may not be the smartest takes but they are funny and are so outlandish sometimes. also he brings some excitement when he talks trash.
The game and the league go hand in hand for me. The game is obviously bad, because of map design and the dynamic map components like doors and windows, etc. It goes without saying that skill based matchmaking has completely ruined pubs and pub stomping live stream and UA-cam content. But someone really needs to do a deep dive on the structure of the league. There needs to be less exclusivity in the league. 44 players in the whole world are ever in the league at one point, and that's unacceptable. It gets monotonous seeing the same teams over and over again in matches. It would be fun to see teams formed with people who used to be pros (sort of like the Kingsmen team led by Parasite that took Optic to game 5 in the Black Ops 3 Orlando event). The franchising can work, but the entry fee is way too steep for it to make sense for a brand to start from scratch. I could go on and on, but this game is terrible in terms of pubs, and every game going forward will be so long as there is skill based matchmaking and there's no ability to have a great KD every once in a while. But just as importantly, the game is awful competitively, and it doesn't have to be if they would get more feedback from pros well in advance of the launch. No ranked play at launch is a massive failure every year, and they simply don't care. This game is completely chalked, there's no way to salvage this game. This game is so bad that literally Scump competing is the only thing holding it together. But going forward, they have the ability to bring back old school map design, no interactive map components, and all the other elements that have a consensus opinion among the competitive community. They will either start listening to the pro scene on basic game decisions, or the league will be an afterthought within 1-2 years tops.
Do they ever address how absolute dogshit the game is to play casually in pubs? I'm 1:42:06 in and not a single mention of it. It almost seems like the pros are in their own little delusional world on this. Competitive CoD could be the greatest thing ever but if the actual game people play isn't nobody is going to care. I like competitive Halo and Overwatch because those games are actually fun to watch and play competitively. I used to play COD for the casual arcade shooter/pubstomp gameplay. That's been gone for years now.
@@mellomoose_ why tho? Checkmate was iffy but had some of the best moments of the year for control and HP, the SnD was kinda bland with bombsites since no one ever took the bomb A long. Miami was prob the worst map for comp most of the year, but Moscow had lot of strategy to it for SND and HP. Garrison was always a mixy map with mostly power positions for strats but played well. Once they added fan fav raid it was one of the better comp cods in awhile. The pubs were always ruined cuz of tac rifles and the new OP guns they added but comp was dope (besides the actual rank system lol)
I agree with moth of what was said, but people need to realise CDL/Franchising is a 5-10 year plan, a lot of these Orgs are planning to be in an around the CDL for that time. It will get better. I know recent cod history isn't helping my point here, but we still need to give them time. Don't get me wrong I've been around competitive cod since bo2 and nobody wants to see it strive more than me, but boys we have to have faith. Activision will be stupid to not sort this out, give the community a fucking good competitive title, with open brackets, 32 team tournaments, allow challengers and people below that to compete for the top. Invest/create in lower leagues to help home talent. I'm waffling on but I just want to see competitive cod be the best.
Finally after a month of release we are having this conversation! Hoped it wouldn’t come to this and sledge could turn their shit around but it’s long overdue!! Lots of us knew this was coming way before release
Congrats on the promotion Ben but I’m really gonna miss your vibe and cerebral takes on the Flank. It was the exact balance that was needed between all the madness. Still gonna tune in for every show but your energy will be missed. Gg’s bro.
I always enjoy this podcast, but I gotta say this was a hard one to digest. I know all the conversation comes from a place of both passion & frustration, and I don't think anything said was incorrect, but I wish they would have given Doug his time to shine within the podcast, especially considering the positive outlook that he always has in life & everything he's doing/done. Everyone hates on Doug, but the guy has one of the best attitudes of any CoD personality or person in general, and I think he can offer a lot of quality contribution to these discussions if people would let him have his say. Anyways, keep up the great show, and hopefully Doug will be back!
@@raulmehta9743 I think they all need to learn to do that, aside from Tommy, as he was very courteous to Doug and several times throughout asked people to stop talking so that Doug could finish his trains of thought. But you're right, Pat was definitely the worse of the bunch, and I think that still just stems from the hate that people have for Doug for some unknown reason, as I don't think the guy has ever done anything to deserve what he gets from the community. Honestly it's a shame.
Agree with aches on most of the maps outside of bo4 i thought they were great, zinni is also 100% right saying the game mechanics are different thats why standoff wasnt viable last year because cold war was too quick. If they brought out standoff for the first time last year the pros wouldve shit on it
Thing is with the devs they look at pro players like they're pros they want the game catered to smashing noobs or anti noob. When in reality they're just fans of the game and want a good game. If they listened to the pros for example: no doors, no smashable walls, decent maps, good quality spawns, trophies, good maps and balanced weapons what out of that list is gonna turn a casual away? A casual is probably gonna play or quit regardless of those. They're more than likely to keep playing because all that would make a better game anyway. Comp orientated players keep playing because the games well built. What I'm saying is if the core of the game is based for comp or platformed from comp then the game is more than likely gonna be a solid game. Then you just add your other game modes, some other guns etc like normal and you've got yourself a good cod. If they think it's just comp people who hate it they're sadly mistaken. I've got loads of noob mates who don't go on it and have since a month max from launch and same for everyone I known who likes ranked play/competitive. If a games shit a games shit.
Actually surprising, these teams pay 25 mill. Only support ive heard for the players is they want crowdfunding. Which should be a thing but that doesnt fix the game. The OWNERS have so much power here, just support your players in wanting HIGHER standards for the damn game!
I love this show but I think after all of that courage makes the best points and actually has some nice constructive criticism and telling what they can do to make it better. Having a specific dev team for comp can be a real fix
A strike could help though. What else can you guys really do? I'm sure Activision is anti union just like most huge companies. So strike is the only option. For more job security and an open line of communication with the devs.
Censor was not productive for this conversation, neither was parasite. Both for opposite reasons. It was nice to see aches again and jack too. This was well needed to be heard. Thanks Tom 👍
It’s crazy how Jack literally gave them the blueprint for something that all the players could actually do and try to take a stake in their future and then the conversation just goes back in the same circles again and again.

Vanguard is rough man. TTK with lag makes it seem like thanos joined the server. IMO there are good things but the one free weekend was enough for me.
Every ORG has to get together for something to change just like what happened in RLCS.
Comp zombies pubs all trash everyone I know irl and most friends online have stop playing the game. Or never got ot because it's bad
Zin so silent during the Tom grvty gas 🤣🤣🤣
To the point at 31:00, can’t the owners have a meeting and talk to the devs org?
Bro, you don’t know how bad I needed the flank…
This episode couldn’t have been posted more perfectly. At work while watching a new episode of the flank LFG!
CW had dope maps.. great rotations for HP. Lacking on the SND with bomb sites being shit but overall CW was very competitive
the base cw maps where very underwhelming
Amazing shows always 🙏🙌keep up the good work Zooma.
We just gotta invest into the flank and make zoomaa a billionaire so that he can become an owner
Honestly the big guns in the scene such as scump, crim, clay, simp, should say something directly to the devs. I think the devs will listen to them.
There needs to be a org union to stand up to the league, they’ll have more impact then the players
keep doug on the show! hes entertaining!
Gg’s bro.
Bro the Christmas aesthetic is FIRE
Pat just needs to learn to let other people talk
@@raulmehta9743 I think they all need to learn to do that, aside from Tommy, as he was very courteous to Doug and several times throughout asked people to stop talking so that Doug could finish his trains of thought. But you're right, Pat was definitely the worse of the bunch, and I think that still just stems from the hate that people have for Doug for some unknown reason, as I don't think the guy has ever done anything to deserve what he gets from the community. Honestly it's a shame.
He gave no insightful points he just said he likes the game lmao
Friggin Window Doorfare
NO WAY BRO IF HITCH AND ZOOMA ARE DOING THE FLANK it WILL BE SOME FUCKING HEAT
We should just bring back cold war for a second year and pretend like vanguard never existed
Loony saying don’t get it twisted made me cringe so much and I have no idea why
If I tell you there is a podcast where the hosts are Aches, Zinni, Parasite, and Doug Censor Martin, what would you call that podcast?
SkankFest. 😎
Top 32 👀
“Washed up” 👍
@@mrbrunchies3048 damn 😂
10 seconds into Doug talking he brings out the "i gAvE uP mIlLiOns oF DoLlArS"
Doug without a shirt is TOP TIER CONTENT! Keep it coming Tom
Cod now is just a type of game where u play casually after work while drinking a beer playing for an hour.
Censor was not productive for this conversation, neither was parasite. Both for opposite reasons. It was nice to see aches again and jack too. This was well needed to be heard. Thanks Tom 👍
Parasite was a joke don’t why they keep bringing him back you can just hear his saltiness that he’s not as big as Scump and just bitching
i loved both
I can’t tell if I love or hate Doug. Not sure if I’ll ever know.
Why can't COD just go back to the days of the CWL... also who here is gonna be at HCS Raleigh?
Ahh Tom isn’t paying the man enough to go full time
This podcast was excellent. Great discussions!
Our COD comp. Champs had as many viewers as the first Halo tournament…
its really really really hard to top off worst cods of all time , but damn it seems they have been trying really hard for the past 3 years
Its crazy we got are best ranked when they let one of us in the door cough rambo ray
Doug doing his 50 pullups will replace Ben’s golf putt
Zinni said the last put produced by OhhRoger........ THATS DASHYS MINECRAFT NAME LMAO
Get pat as co-host. 95% W takes
We need a “whistle blower” from activision to come on and give us some words, cover up their voice and only one who should know is zooma
Some say Censor is still trying to talk about vanguard 🤣
Money talks💴
by the way when I say money talks in regard to the situation I mean how much he’s getting paid to suck the game off
It’s crazy how Jack literally gave them the blueprint for something that all the players could actually do and try to take a stake in their future and then the conversation just goes back in the same circles again and again.
Just shows them why he’s a co-owner and the rest of them like Aches and Parasite still are being immature af
Ben doesn’t want to say anything cuz he literally works for them lol
Lol Doug with a shirt in the picture for the video.
