This thing solves my gripes about the Motorola ma1. Removable cord so I can mount it out of the way instead of hanging from a dongle, and the option to shut off when my phone disconnects from the car, brilliant! My garage is close to my living room, so the Motorola can be aggravating. Gonna have to switch. Thanks for the great info!
@@TechnicallyJeff I really appreciate the follow up, but I bought and installed mine already. Very happy with it. I'm the one that put it in with the right angle usb extension and mounted it in the footwell.
@@TechnicallyJeff I just ordered 90 degree usb adapters to move my motorola ma1 out of the way but after seeing the connect on bluetooth thing ordering the Carsifi as that is a big downside. I was considering ordering the AAWireless because I know that can update it's firmware, I'd guess Carsifi can as well since it has an app but curious if you know about that. Also thanks for the coupon code. Any issues swiching b/w phones with the button after some use? My MA1 was giving me issues, I had to unplug and re-plug it in twice this weekend when my wife and I were both in the car, button worked fine previously.
I have been using this one for about a month now in Canada. It's much better than having to plug it in all the time. I usually keep my phone in my pocket so this is great. Music sounds pretty good and it is very responsive.
What's the audio quality compared to plugging in the USB directly to the phone or using an aux cord? That's the one thing that makes me hesitant to get one of the boxes.
Thanks for the video. Do the steering wheel buttons all work when playing music (volume, skipping tracks)? And have you tested the button on the unit for swapping between two phone connections?
Yep the steering wheel buttons still work fine. And yes we've swapped between my wife's phone and mine and it seems to work fine. I did end up disabling the start/stop when connecting to Bluetooth because the EV6 does power down the port after a few minutes. When that was on, the start stop worked but to switch we had to turn off Bluetooth on one of our phones so it wasn't trying to connect.
Does the connection work if you cannot first connect the car wired? I have also second question: I have problem with Skoda and Samsung working together. I have heard it's about cable connection as my older phone is working fine. Do you have any tips which cables would work to fix this problem? Samsungs own cable isn't working sadly.
It should as long as the car recognizes the Carsifi as Android Auto when it is plugged in, which it should. As for cables, honestly I use Samsung. They are the most reliable I've found. They do wear out though. How old is your cable? And have you tried cleaning your phone's charging port?
Hi Jeff, thanks for the review. One question, can you listen to your built in SXM radio while using AA Google map? I tried an Ottocast U2X-Pro and could not do it. The Ottocast was connected ( viewed) as a Media connected device (on a Kona EV) and you had to use one or the other but not both simultaneously. I tried with both Split screen and not with same result. Returned the thing and got back to pluging the phone through USB and all is fine.
Hi Jeff, I've been using the adapter for a while now in an XV Subaru 2021 model. I don't know why at times the adapter disconnect from the phone, or it freezes. The only way to get it going again is to switch engine off and start again. I've contacted Carsifi customer service and was told to reset and start the connection process from the start. I have couple times, but all failed. I'm hoping you can assist me further. Cheers.
Hey I'm sorry to hear you're having issues. I personally haven't had any connection issues with my Carsifi unit. For troubleshooting - a couple of questions. Do you have "intercept AA protocol" selected? If so, try tuning it off. Have you tried using different wifi channels? Sometimes that can impact it. You could also try forcing 2.4 ghz. What phone are you using it with?
@@TechnicallyJeff, Thanks for your prompt reply Jeff. I'm using an S20 FE Samsung, intercept AA protocol is always off, 2.4ghz is on. I was driving today, 10 minutes on the road, lost connection. I'm using the original cable that came w the adapter. Has been an exasperating experience for me last numerous months 😔
Can you still use the wireless charger to charge your phone while this is connected? I've read on some devices it often will drop Bluetooth connection if using the charge pad.
Looks great, I'm curious if this would work with a MG ZS 2020, it has Apple car play, although no Android Auto. So I am looking for an adaptor that would make this possible to run Android Auto on this car?
Interesting. You likely need something like the One Car Stereo AI Box that I reviewed. It uses the Apple Carplay protocol to allow you to watch movies and things like that on the screen. It also has built in wireless apple carplay and android auto. I'm not sure if it uses the Apple Carplay protocol for Android Auto though.
Great video. Would be helpful to see how long it takes to connect from starting up. Also I have a full android ai box hooked up to my EV6 and my biggest gripe is the voice assistant button on the steering wheel doesn’t work as seamlessly as it does when hard wired.
Honestly it's powered up and connected by the time I'm belted. Since it's always plugged in, as soon at the vehicle is unlocked the phone connects via Bluetooth, the device powers on, and the android auto connection is started. I haven't had any voice assistant issues either.
I have the Motorola MA1 and will be returning it because every time I play music, it skips ever 30 seconds or so. Does this skip during music playback? I have the Samsung S20FE. Thanks.
Thanks for the review. Did you get a successful connection with a second phone? I'm struggling to get wireless Android Auto to work with my partner's phone. The carsifi always picks my phone Pixel 7pro. The double tap magic button disconnects android auto from pixel7pro for a minute and tries to connect to my partner's phone Samsung Note 9 but fails and then picks up my phone again.
@@TechnicallyJeff Yes carsifi app is installed in her phone. It also shows both our phones are paired to the app. Her phone just won't run wireless Android Auto. Carsifi always picks my phone even when i don't want it to.

It will always been on whenever it's plugged into power. The EV6 power port turns off after about 5 min if the doors are locked and it's not plugged in.
