Later that Summer, August 28th at the March on Washington, Dylan sang this standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Those were hard times, but there was hope in the air.

What a totally different spirit people had back in those days, we are much too spoiled. Thank you, GS, for this gem of history! 💝

Awesome version. This song means a lot. It is a plea against racism, a protest song. And Dylan was very young when he sung this, very young. Incredible !

In Don't Look Back, there's video of the last half of this performance of Only a Pawn in Their Game. That's all I had ever heard. It's great to hear the beginning! I wonder if the complete video performance is floating around somewhere.

Incredible. Never thought I'd be able to hear (nearly) the whole thing. If someone could lift the last section of Pawn from No Direction Home, we could get a fully restored performance. Such a cool nugget of political and Dylan history right here though, thanks Georgia Sam. You still got that bloody nose?

I wish Bob Dylan look back on this video and think, I should get with likeminded others in the music industry to campaign for the ending of the genocide in Gaza which the U.S. had a deliberate hand in by putting Israel on the map for their own interests of global domination. There were no Muslim militants in Palestine in 48, yet 870,000 Palestinians were violently driven out of their homes in the first three years of Israel's existence.
