What she deserves, and what the law allows her to be sentenced are two different things. Blame your politicians for the penalties associated with these crimes, and the voters who voted for these politicians. Judges have sentencing guidelines per law.

As a mother myself, if I had even hurt my child because I was under the influence I would not beg for mercy. I would humbly take whatever sentence the judge granted, knowing I deserve it!

I agree. She loved drugs more than she loved those boys. I was shocked when she called it "an accident". She had multiple occasions to stop, cry out for help and turn things around. What also shocked me is how she stopped sniffing and crying as soon as she heard the light sentence pronounced. Appalling.

It was not premeditated first degree murder. That’s why she didn’t get more time. Was her actions reckless, irresponsible, and ultimately tragic? Yes. But we have to look at things on a case by case basis. This one isn’t like the Susan Smith case where she intentionally drove her kids into the lake to kill them purposely
As someone who is sober 11yrs, my boy went to live with his dad. I put alcohol before everyone and was very sick. He is 19 today and lives with me, we have a beautiful relationship. He has shown me more grace than l deserve. I still feel dreadfully guilty for not sending him to school, lying etc. My guilt will never subside, l cannot begin to imagine the life this woman faces. I feel terrible and was a angel compared to her. I hope she remains sober 😔
A bit of well-intentioned advice - you MUST learn to forgive yourself. Do whatever it takes. You DO deserve the grace your son has shown you. Look at what you've accomplished - 11 years of recovery without a relapse, a son who is now getting the relationship he's always deserved, and a bright future ahead of you both. I speak from personal experience, dealing with a daughter who was in an identical situation and both she and her son are now completely different people. Hang in there, dear lady - you have every right to be proud of your accomplishments. I hope the woman in this video can come to terms with her mistakes some day and find peace in her life. It won't be easy.

The amount of people who are judging her very harshly will never ever understand what addiction is like. We do not mean to make those choices. I have been sober 17 years. But it took me losing my children to get sober. Thankfully my kids were young and I got healthy and got them back

I lost my children in a car accident. I know the pain this woman feels. I hope she learns from this. I’m also in recovery. I do not feel that addiction is an excuse for this behavior. She committed vehicular manslaughter. For these charges she should have been facing up to 15 years on each count. The court showed her children were of little value. If she had killed strangers she probably would have gotten a lot more time.

Never again in my life I’m blessed I was safe and no one died I didn’t crash . I had my two babies my oldest son was at home with my father since he had school the following day and we sleep at 8pm . I had 0.138 alcohol . I was already at my distination I wanted to get Uber or have my father pick us up I parked my car for the reason I couldn’t drive anymore and cops were behind me while I was parked 😔😔 . People that use methadone know full well how long after dosing before they start to nod, it's like clockwork. And that's only after their dose, not including extra ones. She should receive THREE LIFE SENTENCES....one for each child. NOT "just an accident". Usually an accident is not avoidable.... She chose to put her children at risk. She chose to put those kids in the car and go down the road when she was under the influence of drugs.... That was a deliberate act on her part that's not an accident in any way shape or form. I really can’t believe this sentence when 3 innocent lives were lost. I am devastated for the loved ones of these boys I truly hope this woman takes advantage of the gift she was given and turns her life around.

Heartbreaking... Her babies are gone and she is left with the knowledge that she basically killed them. That is enough to drive you insane for the rest of your life, regardless if you are in jail or at home. She has to live with her poor choices every waking day. Losing even one child is beyond words, the pain in your heart never ever goes away, a hole in your heart. The pain she will have to live with for 3 children gone is a sentence that no parent would want to go through. It's beyond suffering. I pray she gets the help she needs for recovery. Was her actions reckless, irresponsible, and ultimately tragic? Yes.

As someone who is sober 11yrs, my boy went to live with his dad. I put alcohol before everyone and was very sick.
He is 19 today and lives with me, we have a beautiful relationship. He has shown me more grace than l deserve.
I still feel dreadfully guilty for not sending him to school, lying etc. My guilt will never subside, l cannot begin to imagine the life this woman faces. I feel terrible and was a angel compared to her.

A bit of well-intentioned advice - you MUST learn to forgive yourself. Do whatever it takes. You DO deserve the grace your son has shown you. Look at what you've accomplished - 11 years of recovery without a relapse, a son who is now getting the relationship he's always deserved, and a bright future ahead of you both. I speak from personal experience, dealing with a daughter who was in an identical situation and both she and her son are now completely different people. Hang in there, dear lady - you have every right to be proud of your accomplishments. I hope the woman in this video can come to terms with her mistakes some day and find peace in her life. It won't be easy.

I lost my children in a car accident. I know the pain this woman feels. I hope she learns from this. I’m also in recovery. I do not feel that addiction is an excuse for this behavior. She committed vehicular manslaughter. For these charges she should have been facing up to 15 years on each count. The court showed her children were of little value. If she had killed strangers she probably would have gotten a lot more time.

Never again in my life I’m blessed I was safe and no one died I didn’t crash . I had my two babies my oldest son was at home with my father since he had school the following day and we sleep at 8pm . I had 0.138 alcohol . I was already at my distination I wanted to get Uber or have my father pick us up I parked my car for the reason I couldn’t drive anymore and cops were behind me while I was parked 😔😔 . People that use methadone know full well how long after dosing before they start to nod, it's like clockwork. And that's only after their dose, not including extra ones. She should receive THREE LIFE SENTENCES....one for each child. NOT "just an accident". Usually an accident is not avoidable.... She chose to put her children at risk. She chose to put those kids in the car and go down the road when she was under the influence of drugs.... That was a deliberate act on her part that's not an accident in any way shape or form. Life is a bit much, let's not go overboard; it wasn't planned. Let's compromise at 30 years. Seriously, life should be reserved for the worst intentional crimes. A life sentence is worse than a death sentence in my opinion, so it should be for the worst criminals. But I do think a car is a dangerous weapon and one was used in this homicide and is no different than had she shot someone after taking the methadone. I don't see how that judge can sleep at night and hope the voters will take note of this next time his renewal comes up. Pay attention to who your judges are. Not all of them are appointed; they are elected and can be un-elected.

I do agree the sentence seems really light, but if it’s what the law requires it is what it is.
@@Padraig1974 If it weren't for the criminal justice system, we'd have no democracy. If not for democracy, we'd have no justice system. They work together and if judges are making the wrong decisions, they should be removed. Voters should be involved in ejecting unjust, unqualified, biased and corrupt judges.Judges should not be shielded or protected as though they are above the rest of us. To say otherwise is giving them impunity to do as they wish.

Wow that is a slap in the face to those kids. How this was charged as a misdemeanour is beyond me. She should have a life sentence. Everyone failed those kids and are continuing to do so.
Edit: Oh please, losing her kids is a life sentence. She clearly didn't care about those kids. Her resolve is strong now, only cost the lives of three children. She'll be out doing drugs and killing someone new in no time. Just disgusting.

Heartbreaking... Her babies are gone and she is left with the knowledge that she basically killed them.
That is enough to drive you insane for the rest of your life, regardless if you are in jail or at home.
She has to live with her poor choices every waking day. I only hope that their deaths will be the reason for her to stay sober.

Losing even one child is beyond words, the pain in your heart never ever goes away, a hole in your heart. The pain she will have to live with for 3 children gone is a sentence that no parent would want to go through. It's beyond suffering. I pray she gets the help she needs for recovery. The three little children are in God's kingdom now where they are safe. She needs to ask God for forgiveness and repent.

Hold your children and hug them everyday, tell them you love them. We all have to have accountability for our actions as a parent. If you have a drug or alcohol problem seek help immediately, your children's lives are worth more. We have to protect them at all costs.
