Erica and Tom are crazy awesome together. Watching this clip with them just shows how perfect they are. Just as engaging as they were on Smallville, what a great duo. The last 4 episodes you can tell Tom is super happy and engaging- he's loving Lois. Also Erica makes Tom glow, he seems more youthful and playful and energized when he's with Erica- same goes for Clark and Lois. They really are a real life Lois and Clark. Great episode! Hope to see more of Erica, I love listening to her.

I loved how Clark and Lois would constantly have a turn at each other, their exchange of insults and sarcasm toward each other in how they'd poke at the others insecurities and faults was hilarious.
@@ghostrecon3834 I remember the DVD commentary was on yt years ago (in parts) but idk if it's still on here. Genuinely hilarious and all time favorite.
I love how Clark hides behind Lois and Chloe when they're facing off with Mandy, but when the burly dudes with baseball bats show up a second later, his whole demeanor instantly changes to "I got this" as he steps in front of them. 😂😂 Thanks for bringing Erica on! Love the different perspectives.
I honestly think that Tom and Michael watching the show is awesome. I also love how with Tom watching the show he is already seeing the romantic bantering between clois, when the bantering isn’t even in its romantic prime yet. Also I feel Tom will now see what everyone on the show including producers, directors, castmates, and obviously the fans have been saying that Erica and him have amazing chemistry. Especially as the seasons go on.
In the scene where Clark is trying to convince Mandy that he's still under the influence of the Kryptonite Kool Aid, I love the way he delivers the "I'm devoted to you" line. Like he has no suave at all.
I ❤ how Lois always wore a primary colour that matched/completed Clark's Superman colours. Very clever of the costume department - right from the beginning, we can see they are destined to be together. As a fan, it was so disappointing that we only got 4 episodes of Lois before her character left and didn't show up again for a while. Erica Durance had such a lovely energy and great chemistry with Tom!
Erica has absolutely AMAZING charsima in Smallville... I absolutely loved her character but mostly how Erica played it.. With such passion and conviction and humor... There was no was she should have doubted herself.. One of the top performances on the show abd one of my favorite character the way she delivered it.
Yess finally! The wait didn’t disappoint and I hope you guys do invite her up to 50 times like Tom said 😂 Erica’s amazing on and offscreen. Her addition to Smallville really made a memorable mark. What a joy this was to watch, I could’ve watched hours of this group chatting together 😅
YAY! Erica Durance! Glad Erica loves working with Tom both as actor & director! Tom understands the different important scenes from "Devoted" and notices all the fun football moments from it too! The ending football throw is another outstanding scene from the entire series! #SmallvilleForever
Yea, Erica is on the podcast finally. ❤ As many have said The chemistry between Lois and Clark was off the charts amazing. It's great to see that Erica and Tom have a wonderful relationship that is full of joy.
How all the actors of the show look exactly the same or even better with the decades is beyond me. Erica was such a great addition to the show and I loved her character so much.
She’s had plastic surgery recently. You can see it in her lips and around her cheeks and eyes. Stretched out. Compare that to how she looked just two years ago at a q & a and a convention
@@Jealod24 while I respect your opinion on what you find attractive, and even if what you say is true or not, Erica is still gorgeous to me nonetheless.
It became a running joke among fans how different Erica looked over the course of the series. And she's changed even more post Smallville. I love her as a person but turning a blind eye to that is ridiculous.
I'm glad Tom Welling keeps bringing up "Moonlighting", because that's an underrated show that I think most people have either forgotton about, or just don't know about because either too much time has passed, or because Bruce Willis himself became known for Die Hard and his other movies. The comparison of the Clark/Lois dynamic to that of Moonlighting is pretty apt. Even as a kid watching, without the knowledge of Moonlighting, I always loved Clark & Lois' dynamic. Not just because as a comic-geek I was excited to possibly see them fall for each other (which wouldn't happen for yeears), but just to see the banter between the two, considering the fact that this super-powered being, with all his abilities, sometimes just can't wrap his head around dealing with someone as boisterous as Lois. Erica Durance just brought that much needed energy to the show, and continues to be my favorite live-action iteration of Lois Lane today.
Is it underrated? It's a classic that has influenced most of the romantics shows out there like Bones and Castle for example. Am I that old that people have forgotten about it?
I just loved her first time I saw her. She's amazing and she single handedly transformed Smallville. And she's left handed and a cat person. Perfection! Best episode of Talkville yet! ;D
Michael, if her schedule permits and she is down for it, you should have Erica on the show as a recurring talking head for eps she's in. It's cool to get her perspective. BTW Michael, Chloe's character takes a turn for the better in the middle of the season. You see her character mature and her friendship with Clark grows stronger.
I am so disappointed with myself that I have only just now found this channel. I grew up with smallville, it was the highlight of my week as a kid waiting for the new episode. I will definitely need to get caught up in these podcasts! I actually got to meet Tom Welling and Erica very briefly but our car got broken into the night before and all our stuff was stolen so I wasn’t in the best of moods but it was still unforgettable. Truly an amazing show with amazing people. I love that you guys are doing this, SUBBED!
🌹🌹favorite scene in the ep: Clark sneaks behind Lois and Chloe to escape from Mandy 😂😂😂 SO FREAKING CUTE! . . .and then even more adorable: he doesn't miss a single beat and moves in front of them the instant they are all threatened by real danger from the jocks! 💖the entire interaction between them for the whole episode was freaking ADORABLE. . . Clark, "I need you to keep her away from me" Lois, "with what? a tranquilizer gun?" 😆 Lois, "don't worry, I'll visit" Clark, "is that a promise or a threat" and she punches his arm! too cute! 💖💖💖
@jkhoover YESSS ❤️ and I can tend to lean towards spotting sexist red flags and it didn't feel like that AT ALL. it really was just about Clark seeing they were outnumbered not to mention the jocks were armed! He's seen that Lois can handle herself in a dangerous situation. that's just the protector in him, stepping up without hesitation or second thought. . .it's one of the many reasons Superman is the BEST ❤️
Well said! I also love Lois’s reaction when Tom was kissing that cheerleader. Her trying to give Clark hints and also looking disgusted 😂😂😂 Brilliant chemistry by both of them.
At first i didn't like Erica as Lois, being honest, but the more i watched her the more she became Lois. And now i truly believe they couldn't have made a better cast for Lois. Ive cried watching her scenes so many times, and she really brought that epic love of Superman and Lois to life. I can see why Clark chose Lois because of how good Erica was as Lois
😂The S04E04 is the best episode of the entire show for me. The ending scene, the dunk tank scene , is so epic with Avril Lavigne's OST, the pacing, rhythm, and the chemistry between Tom and Erica. It was truly epic and beautiful. Even now, I still find myself looking for this scene on bad days.
I'm 45 yo. I watched Smallville in my 20s. And I re-watched it later several times. I must say I'm enjoying these podcasts so, so much! The insights on production, the thought process of the actors about their characters, having a small but significant peek at the human beings behind my beloved characters... Thank you so much from an Argentinian fan.
Omg Erica ❤❤❤ I'm so excited to see her!! I've been waiting for her! clois are such an iconic couple and lois always has been my favourite character , Erica is such an amazing actress and she add so much to the show!! and the chemistry between lois and Clark is so real and amazing i can talk about these two for hours!❤❤
These 3 were the show stealers for me... Also loved Pete, Chloe, Lana, Lionel, Martha, Jonathan, etc... but these 3 just made the show for me, not just cause they're the 3 main Superman characters, but because the actors were just phenomenal, and brilliantly casted. Keep up the great work with the Pod guys.
Erica Durance and Melissa McBride coming from jobs behind the desk at casting offices, then becoming certified tv franchise figureheads is kind of wildly amazing.
This was fun to watch :) I loved the end of the episode when Lois says "Don't worry I'll visit" and then Clark says "Is that a promise or a threat?" and then she punches him I love that banter it was always enjoyable to see :)
Th episode was ok, very high schooly stuff. Lois really made the episode better; I love her interaction with Clark. I love the end scene where they say goodbye with the song "Our Mystery" in the back. I will give this episode half a rose.
Smallville is such a great show and what i like about it is that the chemistry was amazing :) Erica and Tom are the best Lois and Clark of all time for me .
As A SERIOUS SMALLVILLE WATCHER let me tell you a couple things, you gotta pick a character or a relationship that you like at the time, and when lois is introduced EVERYTHING ON YOUR MIND IS CLARK AND LOIS, and its the small build up, the ups and downs of their relationship- and the "almost but not quite" tension that when it finally gets released makes the show worth watching
oh Michael 🤦♀️ lol THANK YOU Tom for attempting to explain to him how the weekly villains are the catalysts (and often the ep's metaphor) for character growth. I am shocked and confused that after 3 seasons of mostly this formula it's still not apparent to Michael smh lol it happens in almost every ep! 😂 but I appreciate the apology and that he recognized that he's way too negative
That's because in season 3 they abandoned the FOTW formula and it was recognized as the best in the show's history. Don't change the history of the show to suit your narrative. So far Michael is right to shit on this season.
it wasn't abandoned so much as thinned out (as literally every other show of that era does, ie: X-files, Charmed, Buffy, Supernatural etc etc) because it was serving its purpose for the early seasons. . the show needed a way to showcase Clark learning his new abilities and they are a metaphor for the change and growth for the main characters. but as that gets established as the show progresses, the weekly villain isn't as necessary and they can devote more time to seasonal and series arcs. . . they still do a one-off villain throughout the series up to and including S10 (ie the Booster Gold Blue Beetle ep) plus it's not about if he should critique or not, it's about his negativity. I've been defending him since the start of the podcast but there's a difference between criticisms (like what Tom and Ryan do when they point out stuff) and strait up being negative. I've never thought he was shitting on the show til now cuz most of his complaining was about production stuff. but last week he was too much
Michael asking the best questions as usual. Erica and Tom are so amazing ❤ Cannot wait to see you three discussing all the fun Lois and Clark episodes as well as the Lois and Lex scenes.
Erica is my absolute FAVORITE Lois!!! She is gorgeous, and I never realized it before Tom mentioned it, but it IS a Moonlighting tension that is freaking AWESOME! Also, this was BETTER than last episode... so HALF a Rose??? WHAT THE??? LOL. Looking forward to next week.
This woman! Her interpretation of Lois Lane gave me the courage to be a talkative, inappropriate, and unapologetic pain in the assssss. One-of-a-kind performer.
How the story moves forward is Lois and Clark getting to the bottom of the journalistic story. You see them working as a team and how Tom and Erica work well off of each other. It also really closes the Chloe triangle. You now see Chloe go from hopeful lover to best friend and she really starts to prove that later on. I love that Clark was honest with Chloe with how he felt about her. There is an episode that has no business being in this season and goes nowhere. This episode gets a heater for me. I loved seeing Erica and can't wait to see her again.
in all honesty, this is one of the greatest shows ever. THere is nothing better than the back and forth clark and lex had. I just rewatched the show, and man is it wonderful. SO sad when lex leaves the show, it kinda looses the best part of the show (the friendemies). Good to se you two still going on ! wonderful show, wonderful actor and wonderful people you two are! im so happy for u.

Lots of ❤ and a huge thank you for getting Erica to the podcast. Still great chemistry between them and I loved watching the iconic tank scene 🙂. Greetings from Germany🇩🇪
I can't wait til they get to later seasons, there's so much nuance to the love story. it's not just about the romance, Clark literally is able to become Superman as a direct result. there's so many subtle ways his destiny gets pushed forward once he realizes and accepts their love and I can't wait to hear about the BTS and character development 🤗
@divinelangene6813 lol yeah i don't get it AT ALL. there's alot of people who are stubborn and don't like to open their minds 🤷♀️ it's like they shipped them for so long S1-3 that when they writing was finally on the wall esp in that dumpster fire of a mess in S7, they just refuse to let it go. this universe's Lana was wrong for him in every way. this universe's Lois was perfect for him in every way. objectively speaking, cuz I generally dislike Lois Lane and could never understand until now why Superman would want her for a partner lol
@divinelangene6813 i mean i wouldn't compare them in that way, they both are beautiful. to me, Lana is a girl and Lois is a woman. also, they wrote Lana to basically embody a living plot device, while Lois was written as an independent character. it's why she is a breath of fresh air in every scene, while Lana just weighs everything down much more so in her later seasons. and that ridiculous 4 ep arc in S8 was so out of place, I usually skip over it all together when I re-watch lol
The reason this episode ends with the "In Loving Memory Of Christopher Reeve" is because he passed away either during the filming or just before the premier of this episode. I remember reading that somewhere, although I don't recall where.

Even as Erica just being herself, totally enamored. As old as I am at 45, still crushing on her lol . Kick ass guys. Great show guys, both this and smallville.
Please bring Erica back for more episodes. Love her on the podcast and love this episode. She's amazing! ❤
Now Erica Durance is in hallmark movies, every time she is in a movie I instantly watch. She is a wonderous actress
This is my comfort episode now of Talkvile! ❤😅I think I'll just stay here and replay this interview with my two besties over and over!🤷♀️ until Erica/Lois returns on the pod! they are so freaking cute! Love them! #cloisforever ♥️😍
I loved how Clark and Lois would constantly have a turn at each other, their exchange of insults and sarcasm toward each other in how they'd poke at the others insecurities and faults was hilarious.
Who would have guess that would allow them to know each other and make each other strong more than all the "love" of Clana.
Erica still the only real Hollywood crush I had...lol she was awesome as Lois and really changed the trajectory of the show
Actually, that MOONLIGHTING comparison to the Clark and Lois vibe was pretty spot-on.
The dvd commentary for Spell with Erica, Kristin and Allison is one of the funniest things ever.
@@danzwku it's on UA-cam, is super funny
just wait until that episode
Bruh whattt this exists?? I HAVE to see this
@@ghostrecon3834 lots of laughing going on in it.
Thanks for bringing Erica on! Love the different perspectives.
One of my favorite parts of the episode!
He say I'm let y'all handle her then then dude steps up he say nobody messes with my girls
Like how can you not like love Erica her personality just glows
I'm so happy to finally have Erica on as a Guest, she's incredible and still the best Lois ever, I don't think she could ever be topped
Erica has such great energy on and off the screen. So glad she was able to be a guest. I love her!!
In the scene where Clark is trying to convince Mandy that he's still under the influence of the Kryptonite Kool Aid, I love the way he delivers the "I'm devoted to you" line. Like he has no suave at all.
My bad. I’ve always thought it was Gatorade
@@RedK5it probably is. I just liked the repetitive K sound of Kryptonite Kool Aid.
@@dbmabe ok because I was confused because I never heard of having koolaid at a sports event. Thanks for responding
i am so obsessed with erica 💓 her personality is everything omg
I ❤ how Lois always wore a primary colour that matched/completed Clark's Superman colours. Very clever of the costume department - right from the beginning, we can see they are destined to be together. As a fan, it was so disappointing that we only got 4 episodes of Lois before her character left and didn't show up again for a while. Erica Durance had such a lovely energy and great chemistry with Tom!
I’m so glad to come across a post about those primary colors they put her in.☺️ I’ve ALWAYS loved that. Still love it.
They did that intentionally. The costumers had to have Tom in Red or Yellow so that Lois is in Blue. Or variations on that theme.
Erica has absolutely AMAZING charsima in Smallville... I absolutely loved her character but mostly how Erica played it.. With such passion and conviction and humor... There was no was she should have doubted herself.. One of the top performances on the show abd one of my favorite character the way she delivered it.
Erica interview was the best so far this podcast!! She was so lovely!! As if nothing changed in 20 years!! Definitely get her back more. Pure gold
Yes! Totally agree!

This was the FUNNIEST EPISODE of Smallville!!! Loved all the CLOIS!!!
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this episode 😂 because of Tom and Erica ❤❤❤❤
YAY! Erica Durance! Glad Erica loves working with Tom both as actor & director! Tom understands the different important scenes from "Devoted" and notices all the fun football moments from it too! The ending football throw is another outstanding scene from the entire series! #SmallvilleForever
Erica is Amazing!
Love the chemistry, respect and admiration that they have for each other!
Love the punches 🤜🏽❤
Yea, Erica is on the podcast finally. ❤ As many have said The chemistry between Lois and Clark was off the charts amazing. It's great to see that Erica and Tom have a wonderful relationship that is full of joy.
I can’t believe I missed this episode. Im ashamed of myself. She is so lovely, love her in everything she does ❤
How all the actors of the show look exactly the same or even better with the decades is beyond me.
Hair does a lot. Bald was not the look for Rosey. Also it's crazy how small Tom looked was compared to later and now where he looks jacked AF
It became a running joke among fans how different Erica looked over the course of the series. And she's changed even more post Smallville. I love her as a person but turning a blind eye to that is ridiculous.
@@DiegoChangthere were no opinions given about her attractiveness, all they said was she got plastic surgery
Erica is such a sweetheart, and an integral part of the show. Her charisma and snappiness were so good.
Erica is such a class act!! What a beautiful person!! Cute little Sugar too!! Best Lois and Clark combo ever and the best Lex ever!!!
Yes ERICA finally!!!!! Also love how defensive Tom got when Erica said some people we not nice! 🥰
You see her character mature and her friendship with Clark grows stronger.
yesss need this
It's not how it works.
💖the entire interaction between them for the whole episode was freaking ADORABLE. . .
Clark, "I need you to keep her away from me"
Lois, "with what? a tranquilizer gun?" 😆
Lois, "don't worry, I'll visit"
Clark, "is that a promise or a threat"
and she punches his arm! too cute! 💖💖💖
And then steps in front of them when the football players came in.
Erica!! Such a gorgeous person inside and out! I hope she reads this or someone tells her that she looks AMAZING with glasses haha
There are main story elements in every episode. That's one of the reasons Smallville is so good.
Erica brought a sense of care free fun to season 4 as Lois especially in her dynamic with Clark.
So your only a couple years younger than Tom?
@@righteousfroce1254 that sounds right.
Erica Durance awakened something in all pre teen / teen boys of the mid late 2000’s 🔥🔥🔥
She saying fighting is more fun than romance is such a Lois response lol. She really is Lois.
Erica Durance and Melissa McBride coming from jobs behind the desk at casting offices, then becoming certified tv franchise figureheads is kind of wildly amazing.
I love Erica and I love when she calls Clark "Smallville" it's so adorable 🌹🌹🌹
Best Lois ever! I need more on screen Tom and Erica chemistry
Thank you, Tom, for always defending the episodes that I love
CHECKMARK FOR ERICA DURANCE BEING ON THE PODCAST EVERY SINGLE TIME NOW
As A SERIOUS SMALLVILLE WATCHER let me tell you a couple things, you gotta pick a character or a relationship that you like at the time, and when lois is introduced EVERYTHING ON YOUR MIND IS CLARK AND LOIS, and its the small build up, the ups and downs of their relationship- and the "almost but not quite" tension that when it finally gets released makes the show worth watching
Holy-moly, Lois Lane herself joined the podcast!
oh Michael 🤦♀️ lol THANK YOU Tom for attempting to explain to him how the weekly villains are the catalysts (and often the ep's metaphor) for character growth.
@@Costas22that doesn’t mean we have to put up with it. And we all know how you feel about it.
it wasn't abandoned so much as thinned out (as literally every other show of that era does, ie: X-files, Charmed, Buffy, Supernatural etc etc) because it was serving its purpose for the early seasons. . the show needed a way to showcase Clark learning his new abilities and they are a metaphor for the change and growth for the main characters. but as that gets established as the show progresses, the weekly villain isn't as necessary and they can devote more time to seasonal and series arcs. . .
they still do a one-off villain throughout the series up to and including S10 (ie the Booster Gold Blue Beetle ep)
plus it's not about if he should critique or not, it's about his negativity. I've been defending him since the start of the podcast but there's a difference between criticisms (like what Tom and Ryan do when they point out stuff) and strait up being negative. I've never thought he was shitting on the show til now cuz most of his complaining was about production stuff. but last week he was too much
Totally agree.
The formula for TV at this time was to do freak of the week kind like lots of sci fi ISH shows
Michael asking the best questions as usual. Erica and Tom are so amazing ❤ Cannot wait to see you three discussing all the fun Lois and Clark episodes as well as the Lois and Lex scenes.
I absolutely loved watching Smallville when I was a kid. I really did. Great memories.
You should have Erica on more, it results in higher views and the audience loves it and her! ❤
Yes!!!! Please @talkvillepodcast 😊
Erica brings more energy even to the podcast! Amazing, loved seeing her here!!
Is this a compliment ? lol
Smallville is the only show I bought all the seasons and watch multiple times
Yay! Bring Erica back as much as you can, I have fondly memories of this Season because of her.
I love how they always put Lois in Clark/Superman colors
SHE'S FINALLY HERE!!! best lois lane 🫶
To be fair, it wouldn’t be a Superman story-or any superhero story-without a freak of the week.
It’s NOT a Superman story, it’s a Clark Kent story. Huge difference
@@SegaGenesis-rf9yw yeah that’s true. And he’s not a superhero either
@@SegaGenesis-rf9ywit coulda been superhero show but tom didnt wanna wear tights.
🌹🌹🌹so great that Erica is on today 🤗🤗🤗 she has such great energy!
loved hearing about her audition and her process and all the little BTS details
it's great when Tom and Erica get into details and the banter and improv of Clark and Lois scenes
Lots of ❤ and a huge thank you for getting Erica to the podcast. Still great chemistry between them and I loved watching the iconic tank scene 🙂. Greetings from Germany🇩🇪
Love Erica. Her character is so important for Clark's journey to be the hero. Please have her for more episodes !!!
@@asyouwish3636which baffles me as to why people prefer Clana, can someone explain it to me
@divinelangene6813 lol yeah i don't get it AT ALL. there's alot of people who are stubborn and don't like to open their minds 🤷♀️ it's like they shipped them for so long S1-3 that when they writing was finally on the wall esp in that dumpster fire of a mess in S7, they just refuse to let it go. this universe's Lana was wrong for him in every way. this universe's Lois was perfect for him in every way. objectively speaking, cuz I generally dislike Lois Lane and could never understand until now why Superman would want her for a partner lol
@asyouwish3636 yeah 🤣well in the end I guess it's all about beauty, because Kristin Kreuk is so gorgeous they prefer Lana
Erica is a doll! Great episode guys!
I have been waiting so long for Erica to join you! So very happy to see her chatting with Tom and Michael! Love Season 4❤
The reason this episode ends with the "In Loving Memory Of Christopher Reeve" is because he passed away either during the filming or just before the premier of this episode. I remember reading that somewhere, although I don't recall where.
I honestly loved Erica … she was great on the show.
How can you not love Erica? She’s a gem ❤
so happy that erica joined!!! she is so fun and i love all you guys chatting. also erica’s cat sugar stole the show a bit there 🫶
