- Smallville actors Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Erica Durance, Laura Vandervoort, Sam Witwer and Alan Ritchson have a virtual reunion panel through Wizard World Virtual Experiences 2020 to talk about the show, their careers and projects and to answer fan questions.
Tom Welling played Clark Kent / Kal-El (and kind of Superman) in Smallville, but has also appeared in Lucifer, Cheaper by the Dozen, Draft Day, The Fog and The Professionals. He also reprised his role in the CW crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Kristin Kreuk was Lana Lang on Smallville, but is well known for her roles in EuroTrip, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Lu, Beauty and the Beast, Chuck, Edgemont and can currently be seen on Burden of Truth.
Michael Rosenbaum portrayed Lex Luther on Smallville, but has also been seen in Urban Legend, Impastor, Breaking In, Poolhall Junkies and has voiced many characters, but most notably the Flash, in Justice League Unlimited, Jackie Chan Adventures, Batman Beyond and The Zeta Project.
Erica Durance was Lois Lane on Smallville, but has also been seen in Supergirl, Saving Hope, Andromeda, Stargate SG-1 and reprised her role as Lois Lane in Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Laura Vandervoort was Kara Zor-El / Supergirl in Smallville, but has also had roles in Jigsaw, V, Bitten, V-Wars, Ice, Supergirl, Con Man and White Collar.
Sam Witwer portrayed Davis Bloome (aka Doomsday) in Smallville, but is also known for roles on Battlestar Galactica, Being Human, Supergirl, Dexter, Once Upon a Time and Riverdale. His voice acting work includes Star Wars Rebels, The Clone Wars, Star Wars Resistance, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis and more.
Alan Ritchson played Arthur Curry aka Aquaman in Smallville, but has also appeared in Blue Mountain State, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Blood Drive and voice Raphael in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies. He is currently Hank Hall aka Hawk on Titans.

@@zakretsas8898 Gene Hackman was awesome, but it was only a couple movies, TV series characters get a lot more time to develop their characters, so they are normally considered "better" = Take Michael Shanks vs James Spader playing Daniel Jackson in Stargate the movie and Stargate SG1. Spader was great, but Shanks had 10 seasons to flesh out the character. Similar thing here with Rosenbaum, he was able to make the character much more vulnerable, and likable than Hackman, if nothing else, just because of screen time.

I did a rewatch last year. Binging it made me love it even more. Still the best DC show ever. So many great eps.
But to be honest: only seasons 1-5 should exist.
@@jlribeiro im a hardcore fan so I love all 10 seasons. But yeah for a casual viewer I would say the first 7 seasons until Rosenbaum leaves. Lex's arc in season 7 is just so awesome it shouldn't be skipped.

20 years later and Kristin Kreuk still looks as beautiful as ever, she hasn't aged a single day, nothing but true love and respect for her and the entire cast. Smallville is still one of the best superhero TV shows of all time
Rosenbaum is way too critical, I thought 90% of Smallville's episodes were absolutely amazing 20 yrs later I still love this series and the casting was perfect.
Well she has no kids yet, that is why she still looks so good.
Kristin looks exactly the same as she did 20 years ago.

Because they are. I believe they used to live close to each other and Michael would drive his scooter to Tom’s place all the time before Tom moved last year (this year?). He makes a couple of appearances on Michael’s podcast Inside of You.

The casting of Henry Cavil I think was a nod to Tom's portrayal on Smallville. When I first saw the trailer and heard Cavil's accent he reminded me so much of Smallville. The Kent farm Diane Lane and Costner also sort of seemed modeled off of the Smallville Kent's two. The producers of Man of Steel I'm positive realized how much the Smallville tone and look worked and it's popularity so they did an homage to that formula. At least in the beginning of the movie.

Tom welling was indeed a good example for a lot of people for being the humblest, gentle and kind. This really helps a lot of us during our rough moments.

Smallville is THE BEST superhero show ever made! Its a legendary show! For me, it defined how superhero shows should be made. The drama, the suspense, the action, the emotions... Everything about Smallville was superb!

Smallville really set the benchmark for a superhero show, and while everything has their own shows trying to do everything in the DC Universe, Smallville had A LOT in that series. It was a great series and will always be the best backstory Universe out there.
A very low bench mark. It was WB/CW. Low ratings are better than no ratings. L&C's first seasons were far better.

The character development and growth of each character was amazing. Especially the path that the Lex character took over the years. Starting watching in 2001 when it was new and am watching season 5 right now. Still my favorite show and Lex is still my favorite character. Thank you Smallville. Actors, producers, directors. DC comics! I have Superman comics from #1 all in individual cellophane wrappers.

Love that Alan's here, he had a small part in smallville but he was great and just watching him change and beef up over the years from Aquaman, to Hawk, and now Reacher and other roles its great always seeing him.

If you've seen the outtakes, you'd be amazed by Michael Rosenbaum's acting chops. He's a total goofball off-screen, and for a personality like his to be able to nail such a serious role like Lex Luthor is incredible.

Hats off to the actors for giving us 10 seasons of Smallville. For me Tom and Erica had the best chemistry. Every episode they put a smile on my face every time and I love how they never had Lois and Clark lose their banter and lightness of their relationship over the years as it deepened and matured. I so enjoyed watching them grow up. I'm very grateful they came back and did Crisis together but I would love it even more if they do a new project together. I don't know what it is but their acting chemistry just transcends the screen and grabs your heart - and they are cutest friends, look at their little waves at each other. Aww.

Such a great cast. Back in the day, people complained about how Superman's origin went on for too long, but now Smallville is such a practical and great example of what makes a hero: everyone is on a years-long journey full of choices that will determine who they'll become, whether that's Superman or Lex Luthor. That's such a big reason why Tom Welling is the quintessential Superman for so many of us, even without the tights.
Smallvillle was awesome! I looked at the first 2 seasons and kept telling my wife how good it was, so I started it over and we watched it every year til the end! We only disliked one season of the 10, and otherwise, the only thing that took to long was Superman learning to fly. That was brutal!

I wasn't even born when this show aired and the fact that I was born a year after and saw the intro in TV like 5 years after really caught my attention to that song 🔥 That's how I got to know about Smallville and Superman and those amazing cast ✨😍

Lucifer also has a great cast...... and was the biggest weekend release ever on Netflix last Friday.
The cast was never what they needed to worry about. Its the people providing the material for the actors in their live action stuff that's the issue.
They have great actors who are just being wasted (like Henry).

I started thinking about SMALLVILLE for some reason. I only saw a few episodes back then & had bought the first & last episode yrs ago. I found some episodes at 2nd & Charles & bought the rest online. I’ve been watching the series almost every night. It is my absolute FAV tv series. I do wish Tom Schneider had been on this SMALLVILLE reunion. He now lives in my home state of LA not too far from the town I live in. He owns a drive-in theatre & I believe his own film studio.

I think I have very seriously underestimated how gruelling filming can be. 5 holiday day a year for 10 years of 12 hour shift . Honestly who does that! That dedication is insane.

I was born in 2002 (can't believe this show is a year older than I am) and just finished all ten seasons and I absolutely adore them. The characters and story are all so well fleshed out and it keeps the charm of fulfilling the Clark Kent to Superman in a way that is respectful to the comics and creates its own wonder. Loved the series and thanks to the wonderful actors for making this happen!
What do you think of the outfits, fashion style and hair and makeup of the early 2000s as they are portrayed in Smallville? I watched it as it aired so I am interested in your opinion being so young!
@@FoundSheep-AN Ooh man, good question! Honest opinion, 99% of the time they all so have that early 2000's feel. Little jean jackets, shirt cuts (especially in the women's clothes), hoodies and jeans...it's very 'old school'. Especially like Kara's first supergirl hoodie outfit or either of Bart's outfits, those ones always sticks out in my mind. The later seasons when they are not in high school, when they are in a little more professional dress, it feels a little more timeless. But they still look like 2000's/2010's. It's also in the hair styles, like teen Chloe (hair fanned out) compared to S10 Chloe (straight). Such a change. OH! And when they get dressed up for prom or go to a party, their dresses are so...oof. Those dresses are not something that many girls would wear now. Make-up without the wing tips and occasional over use of eye shadow is early 2000's too. So a lot of their outfits remind me of elementary school to me (aka like 2007-2011) so it does kind of take you out of enjoying the show when you pay attention to that. Because I will be watching and be like I had a bejeweled hoodie that looked just like that...when I was seven. Their teen boys casual tops are also so elementary school feeling. I do like how fashion was not all about crop tops and skin tight pants (not counting the over sexualization of the Smallville aestetic) but it does look dated compared to today. Cameron Laabs it doesn't beat live events but sure it's more intimate and personal and I'm sure the cast enjoyed it

I just finished rewatching the show. It never gets old, fantastic tv series.
Smallville has that charm to it. And thats something all superhero shows lack these days. Its well paced. And lighthearted. It has slow moments where you can relax. And it has intense moments. A lot of shows these days have a ton of group meetings immediately plotting on how to save the world. There is barely any time to focus on that superhero his or her normal life. Thats what Smallville did best. You got to see a lot of Clark Kent. And it made up for the lack of CGI. Also the hero didnt constantly have to worry about the big boss. Which is cool for a while but it gets exhausting. And thats where the other shows fail.

You're wrong. I loved Smallville but it was anything but well-paced. He only flew in the Finale and when he had the red Kryptonite ring. Most of these new shows have TONS of charm. Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Umbrella Academy, Titans, The Boys, Legion... All have charm. No need to shit on one thing to compliment another. Especially when you're wrong.
@@winterc.2476 just because he didnt fly doesnt mean its not well paced. Its not the superman from the main continuity. Smallville is an alternate universe that is more related to the superboy comics. One they made up probably cause of the budget. Which was a smart decision as it was in a time were these shows were risky. There werent as many box office superhero flicks so they invested less in these kind of shows than they do now. And saying I am wrong is just ignorant. Its my opinion. And the reason why the other shows arent as charming is because of politics and because its all group based. Its basically a little messy cause its like every moment there is a group meeting. And by paced I also mean that the scenes of these newer shows go from 1 to 100. One moment they are kissing or crying and then an alarm goes off and everyone comes together to plan stuff. Their is also minimal focus on their daily lives
@@aceventurapetdetective1736 I loved Smallville so much. It was a very unique show at the time. Although I love the Arrowverse shows, but there are just too many spin offs now. They're all so similar and repetitive. After Arrow ended, I quit all the other ones. The only "Arrowverse" show I still watch is Legends of Tomorrow because you can still watch and enjoy it as a standalone.

Ericka Durance is more attractive to me now that she is older then when she was in Smallville. The saving hope series in Canada that she play a doctor in I watch it because of her.
I am sorry to say I did not care for her character in Smallville party because I knew from the comic books and movies she would end up with Clark instead of the Lana Lane character! I was caught up in their love story from the beginning a most fans were and wanted Clark and Lana to fly off into the galaxy together!

Nah, Lana's character got very annoying and the writers tried way too hard to keep making her important when her role in the show had already run its course. She only kept the show from moving forward. Kristen Kreuk's performance was great, though.

I loved Smallville. It's crazy thinking back to this show. I was in High School at the time the show released and loved it. I also had a crush on a girl that looked a lot like Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) and trust me....that crush carried over. Such a gorgeous woman. (To this day) Glad to see everyone's doing well.

Totally love that about the time before Netflix, just wait a whole week and speculate with your friends about whats gonna happen. That works too in the way the production ends an episode, is totally different a show that they know they gonna release it as a full season.
