There are some rare "control Plagas" that do not appear to affect the host's behavior. In fact, it seems more like the host develops a more symbiotic relationship with the parasite with more benefits seemingly going to the host. The hosts of the Control Plagas can control Los Ganados almost without restriction, but it comes at a cost of horribly mutating as the situation calls for it, the latter of which can occur as soon as the parasite enters the body.
This is interesting and makes sense when you consider evolution. Because of genetic differences, you're eventually going to find individuals who are just better suited for some organisms than others, and who may develop an adaptation that gives them an advantage, helping them live long enough to reproduce
I remember I was 5 when I played this and all I cared about was shooting zombies, now here I am wanting to learn more about the lore and where this game takes place.

Fun fact: The original GameCube version of RE4 contains a unique glitch where sometimes after reopening a save file, Leon will move sideways instead of forward. If you reset the game and reopen the save file though, Leon will walk straight again. Another glitch caused Leon to move much faster than normal, making shooting and slicing a knife much easier.
The merchant is infected too, how can we tell? I thought he was just taking advantage of the situation he found himself in. Also his "What're ya buyin' " and "what're ya sellin' " lines are very memorable, he speaks like a true capitalist who cares about nothing but gaining more cash. No wonder it's a meme to attack him, in the player's defense his prices were like highway robbery.
At night, his eyes glow the same shade of red as the Ganados. Could be a glitch, but I haven't checked to see in the HD version to see if it's just a glitch.
We can tell the merchant is also affected by las plagas because his eyes glow red during portions of the game where los ganados' and illuminados' eyes glow red. Also the fact he is able to get to places where enemies would usually be able to block their path and the fact enemies will also ignore him, where the same is not applicable to Leon, Ashley and Luis who do get attacked by them. My personal headcanon is that the merchant was assigned to collect and sell things in exchange for the game's currency and wasn't told to discriminate against outsiders (not sell to them) or to attack them

Speaking of parasites the weirdest parasite I ever learned about is Rhyzocephala. They are a class of barnacles that as larva inject their insides into a crab, which then grows into a network of flesh filaments inside of the crab like a fungus. Keep in mind that this mass of flesh was originally a crustacean like a shrimp.
Reading more about them, some also have been found to take control of the crab's nervous system, mutate them into the perfect host via control of hormones, and convert them into lifelong brood hosts and food sources for them and their young. This would have been the perfect, horrible, nightmare fuel to build this video off of, lol

I guess they really changed for new enemys It was really cool not having the mai character beeing immune for some reason from Zombie bites, but also gets i fected by one attack Still my least favorite part
Nice. I have to admit, I find the potential of parasites frightening, whether parasitic organisms or more familiar species like viruses and bacteria. That doesn't mean I can't enjoy horror stories though. Nice job illustrating the science of Resident Evil.
Late to the party! But!! MatPat mentioned that there is no such thing as a parasite making limbs grow back and I would like to add sort of a half correction. See, there is a parasite that attaches itself to tadpoles and makes it develops extra limbs as it grows into a frog so it can be more easily hunted by predators.
This is funny. I was JUST watching Drawfee draw monsters from descriptions from this game franchise. As I was watching that I get this notification. That's amazing.

Hey matpat i think we might wanna focus on resident evil re:verse where i believe the story of Ethan winters of resident evil biohazard and village start to mingle into the main story because in village we get ZOMBIES. Sound familiar? I believe we are going to get even more advanced enemies through eathans battles. I also believe that ethan may be a carrier of the eveline bioweapon fungi due to ethan being able to see eveline after the ship incident. But then in village ethan was bitten by a zombie so i think that in resident evil re:verse eathan winters will be the zombie mold hybrid villain of re:verse.
Firstly, Ethan Winter himself is a living mold, so if he get bite by a zombie, it doesn't affect anything to Ethan Second, (as far as i remember) re:verse isn't a canon game

They are a class of barnacles that as larva inject their insides into a crab, which then grows into a network of flesh filaments inside of the crab like a fungus. Keep in mind that this mass of flesh was originally a crustacean like a shrimp.
Ok
Reading more about them, some also have been found to take control of the crab's nervous system, mutate them into the perfect host via control of hormones, and convert them into lifelong brood hosts and food sources for them and their young. This would have been the perfect, horrible, nightmare fuel to build this video off of, lol
Came back here after a year, and man Mats voice is so different. It’s so weird hearing his higher pitched voice, verses his modern voice and this is only after a year.
Resident Evil 4 Will Never Die In Being A Masterpiece.
"would parasites really make a difference?"
me who watches Roanoke gaming AND has more than surface level knowledge on biology: *yes, yes they frigin do*
Finally, a video about the best Resident Evil game. Dunno about the VR though.
My first experience with RE4 ever was VR and I loved it. I'm on my second playthrough already!
0:22 Mat both asked and answered his own question.
9:51 Or "del lago" lake monster
aka "Or the lake´s lake monster" xD
I swear at this point Mat is just giving us a reason to fear men✋🏽
I've always been scared of man kind.
This kinda comes off as misantryst. 🤔
@@joshuawadsworth6417 they most likely meant men as in mankind. Humans.
Resident evil 3 had this weird section about the train station, where there where no Zombies but this spider thingys that infect you with a Parasite.
I guess they really changed for new enemys
It was really cool not having the mai character beeing immune for some reason from Zombie bites, but also gets i fected by one attack
Still my least favorite part
this has to be one of your greatest theories. Honestly this was so cool
I wonder if we'll see a Metroid theory again now that Dread is out. The lore would certainly allow a lot
Best game out there just makes me wanna play it again after finishing it
I'd never realised, the Plagas parasite is literally the creatures from Parasyte.
Hah, I just thought of that too.
MatPat: something like this can't be real in real life, right?
Me: Knowing the Earth at this current moment? I think so
Nice. I have to admit, I find the potential of parasites frightening, whether parasitic organisms or more familiar species like viruses and bacteria. That doesn't mean I can't enjoy horror stories though. Nice job illustrating the science of Resident Evil.
I am more worried about societal parasites at the moment.
Ah yes a game about a infectious thing causing a apocalyptic outbreak so glad this is taking my mind off the news lol
Still waiting on that DELTARUNE theory 😩
7:19 I feel like I shouldn't be laughing at that because that poor snail is literally going to die, but... I still laughed anyway...
Omg I’m obsessed with resident evil, I’d love to see a theory about someone or something from resident evil remake
"Zombies don't use ladders"
(Ladder zombie pvz) "am i a joke to you.."
MatPat: ZOMBIES DO NOT USE LADDERS!!
Ladder Zombie (plants vs zombies): Am I a joke to you?
This is funny. I was JUST watching Drawfee draw monsters from descriptions from this game franchise. As I was watching that I get this notification. That's amazing.
Ha! Getting ready to watch that next XD
Matt you missed an amazing pun.
"Dust off the old parasite encyclopepida to find it my CELLf".
I am truly ashamed.
3:20-Now this raises just another question.
What's the difference between a single cellular parasite and a bacteria?
never played resident evil but the first thing that parasite reminded me of were the parasites in Parasyte: The Maxim
Where’s everyone going, Bingo?
Best one liner I’ve ever heard.
10:50 I didn’t think about the evolution aspect
fun fact: there are 60,000 years worth of content on youtube

.......
Lmao a bot getting spammed by other bots
@@k_keven1694 Dear god, they’re becoming self sustaining!
Only that much? Dam those are rookie numbers
A RESIDENT EVIL THEORY???
YES! THIS IS WHAT IM HERE FOR!!
@LulLalLel Bong
These bots are the real virus.
I think Matt pat should say "thanks for playing" instead of "thanks for watching" on game theory. It is all about games and you play games
I’ve got to see matpat actually play resident evil 4 VR, I’ve played the original and loved it but now being able to play in person makes it more intense and scarier, it was only the mutated wolfs I hated since they was the only ones to cause some fear
I remember playing this game because I just happened to stumble upon it. I just bumbled around like an idiot and got scared beyond shitless
I’d LOVE to see you so a theory on Alice madness returns, i just love that game and your channel and would be so happy to see the two come together. It could be like one of your older episodes where you diagnose her like with handsome jack✨ just a suggestion
hey mat, when you get to a lake in the vr version, shot the lake multiple times
This is simultaneously really interesting and absolutely terrifying.
I never thought "Toad" and "Last of us" would ever be in the same sentence when talking about zombies.
Fun Fact: Scientists are starting to rediscuss whether or not viruses are living or not.
“Zombies do not use ladders!”
Left 4 Dead Zombies: I’m about to end this man’s whole career.
Gotta see a film theory on the anime that introduces parasites, and giant bugs attack humans ^^ that be one I love to watch ^^
Firstly, Ethan Winter himself is a living mold, so if he get bite by a zombie, it doesn't affect anything to Ethan
Second, (as far as i remember) re:verse isn't a canon game
The game routinely forgets he's infected until they want another cliche "creepy kid" segment
