    Was going to post your reel. It was in opposition to a dude I watched eat the head off of a baby fluke/flounder (palm sized) in NC. Your videos are great. I don't want to associate real fisherman with that garbage. I so appreciate your adherence to guidelines. Thank you.

    Very good video. I appreciate the hi energy delivery, it keeps your attention. I have been fishing for more than 60 years (I can’t believe it) but, the number one thing I learned is ‘to be successful is if you want to catch fish, you have to fish where the fish are!’ I learned it from the Boy Scouts Fishing Merit Badge book. It is absolutely the most important tip and you nailed it!!’

    Been waiting all year and I’ll finally be in the Ortley surf in less than 2 weeks!
    Cant. F’ing. Wait!
    Flights alone cost more this year than flights plus rental car in years past so I’m doing everything in the cheap- buying gear and finding deals the past couple months to cut down on costs when we’re out there. New lighter set up- 8’ med heavy Berkeley big game rod-$23 paired with a Penn Pursuit IV3000 reel $40. Got Hi/low rigs, bucktails, 4” white, chartreuse, and pink gulps, even some poppers because I always see schoolies and snappers chasing bunker around at least a couple times per trip. Taking a red-eye in, so the wife and kids will probably crash out as soon as we get in, but my ass is heading straight to the beach. I should be able to get at least an hour or two in on morning one before the lifeguards kick me out.
    I’m ready.

Judging by the neighborhood construction, google maps is most current. The beach cam near where I fish is the most helpful resource of all. I’m studying it right now as the tide recedes and clearly identifying the sandbars, cuts, troughs and holes. It’s worth it’s weight in gold at the price of a rewatching commercials.

      I use 30 lb because it’s stuffer and the rig I use requires that offshoot from the main line. You could get away easily with 15lb, maybe even 10, depending on how you’re fishing. I carry 30 on me at all times. It’s the all purpose lb.

    • @FromtheSurfNJ
      @FromtheSurfNJ  Рік тому +1

      I’ll take my time with other fish, like that big striped bass I caught…can’t just horse them in. Fluke tend to head shake a lot, and sometimes you have them barely hooked. When you real in fast a lot of times you just skate them in easy.

  • @DiomedesArgos

    The seaweed is killing our IBSP fluke game. I’m clearly jigging my bucktail too fast.

    • @FromtheSurfNJ
      @FromtheSurfNJ  2 роки тому +1

      Seaweed just kills everything. Nothing you can do about it but wait until the tide and the wind takes it away. But if it’s SUPER dirty but clear, you can plop down one of those shrimp on the rig I use, and then just jig it in one spot. It will get the weed on it eventually, but not was quickly as covering a lot of ground. Not optimal, but that’s what I do
