"We cannot expect people to have respect for law and order until we teach respect to those we have entrusted to enforce those laws." - Hunter S. Thompson
The worst thing you can do to a cop is "disrespect" them which isn't a law. Every single time you don't do 100% what they want, cops escalate the situation every single time.
It's a pattern. We have the most arrogant, most agitated, most power-trippers, most trigger-happy, most violent and the most corrupt police in the planet here in 'Merika. No wonder a lot of us have lost respect on them.
If they were out on the street, that is when those scared cops pull a gun, say out loud for the bodycam to hear that he is in fear for his life, and would have no problem pulling the trigger. Luckily they were in a building with lots of buildings and cameras.
Such people would never attack without backup, badges, guns, tasers, batons, and pepper spray, but are always ready to use them when “confronted” by questions or comments they don’t like WITH them. 😡
The IMMEDIATE escalation to violence, while being recorded is astounding! It's as if the cops have no ability to control themselves. And then, DAMN, (as others have noted) while one cop was assaulting a citizen, the other cop whipped out his handcuffs to arrest the citizen, rather than arresting the cop who was ASSAULTING a citizen for no reason!!! That is INSANE!
I have been told multiple times by various officers and judges, that "ignorance of the law isn't an excuse for breaking it", yet when civilians are knowledgeable of the law, the police often take our being educated as a direct challenge to their man-hood, and freak out at our audacity for being educated, and get in no trouble for their ignorance.
That's what conservatives don't get, this kind of unaccountability does not stop at discriminating people of color. Most of the Right-wingers think they'll be fine with giving cops free reign. But remember that poor white grandma that got her wrist bones snapped while being placed in handcuffs for walking out of Walmart with a soda? The cop that broke her wrist was even laughing and sharing videos with his buddies while the poor grandma was locked up nomore than about 6 ft. in distance from a cell in front of him with no medical attentions for hours. They don't understand fascism will not stop at just select groups of minorities, because fascism continue to find new groups to discriminate because it's their core addiction. My Right-wing friends, if we don't end qualified immunity now, your white grandma can be the next victim they laughed at while violating your family members.

I’m so glad this is finally getting more attention. Sgt Brian Fahey’s ego and short tempered anger issues are a huge liability to the good people of CT. He does not belong in any position of authority and should be held criminally liable for his clear assault on a journalist!

There was a time that a law enforcement officer treated civilians with proper courtesy in the absence of good reason to exert force. That time is long in the past, and civilians who exercise *OUR* rights protected by the Constitution are doing a great service to the public. Rights not exercised are rights lost.
