- Riders will enjoy the thrills of this steel coaster as it travels around Wonder Mountain, reaching speeds of 80km/h. Vortex is a suspended roller coaster, where riders are taken up through the top of the mountain and dropped at high speeds, plunging down towards the body of water below, narrowly missing it.

There needs to be more mid scary level roller coasters like this one at the park. Cause the way it is now, after Vortex and a couple others, you're either goin' on a kiddy ride like Taxi Jam or you're goin' upside down twice or down a 300ft drop.

Yeah definitely my favourite as well since it’s not so so so fast (which I don’t mind) and it’s like mid level scare factor so it’s great and it’s not that rough if your smart

Storm yeah ikr when I went on it I kept my head back and enjoyed the ride but everyone else had their heads forwards! I personally think this ride is great but I think it depends per person

I don't think it's rough at all tbh~ It does hurt my back a bit, but that's because of the swinging and moves my body around a bit, but overall, one of the best Arrow Dynamics suspended coasters :)

Sit at the front it's the best cuz it SWAYS SOO MUCH at the end! This ride is so swift & exhilarating, i did it twice!!
Me too, the seat feels like you’re on a boat but on rails and the mountain and lake above makes it so thrilling and enjoyable!

Who remembers that lookout point on the mountain? The good old days when we you could go up the mountain 😭
You can still see some of the walkways too. The workers use them for maintenance pathways now

I got to go up to the top back in the original days when it was open to the public, and then again in 2014 with a coaster group. Got to snap snap a bunch of pics and it was really great being up there again, even if the maint stairs leading up there killed me. From the observation level up top you can really see how bad the condition is of many of those mountain paths. We were up there before the park had opened that day so Vortex wasn't running at the time, and the only reason we were allowed up there. Sadly, I don't think we will ever see them return to public use.
This ride proves that roller coasters don’t have to be epic or hyper mega coasters to be fun. Yes you may bang your head again at the restraints but just keep your head back and you’ll be fine, or an easy updated restraint replacement for future designs (if anyone ever decides to, which I hope).
My sister didn't warn me of that. As we disembarked from the ride I shot her a look with a statement that said I'm going to kill you.
Vekoma installed new trains onto Vampire at Chessington. They could easily do it for this one, too!

I went on today. And damn I was really scared. When it got to the top I thought I was going to die of an anxiety attack.
Let me tell you, if you scream, you will feel NOTHING down the drop. I am not kidding, I hate roller coaster drops SO MUCH and I felt nothing.
And when it comes to head banging or shoulders hurting, THERE WAS LITERALLY NONE OF THAT. Sure, rides a little jerky but nothing you can't handle I bet. You'll be fine, it's fun overall.
My advice? Sit towards the front, avoid the back. And hold on!!

@@juliaesho7699 Unless you go on a Rainy Day or a weekday in May, then it's not fun for me, 30mins for Spinebuster, 90mins for Yukon, 45min for behemoth, 60mins for leviathan, that isn't fun

Everytime I see a POV of an Arrow suspended coaster, I'm always reminded of how Arrow improved their suspended coaster model after the failure The Bat (1981-1984) was for Kings Island.
So many memories love the nostalgic factor. Never get rid of it.

This one was my first ever coaster, and I really enjoyed it. Though I got a lot of stomach pain from the carts swinging and the wind.
I am very impressed how this ride almost always has a full que, this ride has been at the park for some time and is still popular
I seriously underestimated this ride when I first went on it. The video doesn't do justice to how intimidating that first drop is. If I went on it again I probably wouldn't be as afraid, but still, I like being surprised by rides.
Growing up in the 90s this was one of my favourite rides. It’s great to see how much bigger the trees are now!
I've always felt that this coaster felt more like a "flying simulator" than what Flight Deck & Time Warp were touted to be. The swinging mechanism on the train cars really gives the turn banks a special feel. And I feel really secure in these cars with how they're designed, for some reason? It's more like sitting in a deep-seated log-flume boat than your standard tracked coaster car.
Also, I don't really remember jostling against the headrest??? If there was, it's nothing like Flightdeck's jostling. I kept my head back and arms braced on the restraints. I do remember the braking area of the track at the end felt a bit sudden though, maybe that's the spot most people have the bad experiences from???
it's nothing compared to modern coasters - but the thing that makes Vortex so cool is how quiet and smooth it is.
I LOVE this ride definitely one of my favs!
What sets this coaster apart from any I've been on all over the world.... the way it stops... you peel into that final queue sideways in such a fast fun way.

This is a really solid #4 in the park. Great for people who are too afraid to ride the big 3 (Leviathan, Yukon Striker and Behemoth).
This was our warm-up coaster when my friend and I did yearly trips here.

A sweet ride, the free-swinging experience is great! (And semi-unique, Vortex is one of only 4 left of this type in North America, and of the 2 I've ridden vortex is by far the superior one :)

🎢It’s the exact layout as The Bat at Kings Island! But in the middle of the park in a nice spot instead of far away from everything else and deep in the woods!👍

One of the best roller coasters at Wonderland. Its fast and fun, even without a loop its still pretty fun. I dont think its a bumpy as ppl say, flight deck and dragon frye are way bumpier

This is more aggressive than the video that makes it look gentle. Went on it today & kept nearly slipping out of harness. From the time it left the mountain to stopping I don't think I touched that seat.

If you like rollercoasters but not big drops and loops, this is a good ride for you. It’s not scary, but really bumpy. Enjoy your ride ☺️

0:55 bruh the insane nostalgia... look at all the archways... i used to walk though those as a kid because back in the day you used to be allowed to climb the mountain.
First time I went on was yesterday in the morning. It was raining heavily and I felt like I was being waterboarded 😂😂 was genuinely perilous and thrilling. 5⭐️
This ride hurt my back the second time I rode it but other than that it's amazing!

Sadly it was closed when I went last week. It's one of my favorite roller coasters.
I went on vortex with my cousin, and when we were on the turn for the drop, the look on her face was priceless! The rest of the ride including the drop I was laughing my a** off over the face she made. She on the other hand was closing her eyes

i was in the line for this ride and i didn’t even know what this ride was and my parents said was not a shaking ride that isn’t fast at all and when i went on it the beginning is so soothing just slow and then i was zooming and i was like AHHHHHHHH
