The JP95 John Petrucci Signature Cry Baby® Wah is the result of the legendary prog metal shredder’s years-long quest to hone his perfect wah tone. For years, John used the Cry Baby Rack Wah system to tweak and fine-tune its numerous parameters until he found the sound that perfectly represents all the expression and intensity he needs. Recently, he and Dream Theater engineer Richard Chycki worked with the Cry Baby design team to replicate and further fine-tune that sound with a single pedal. This is a wah that, as John puts it, “sounds huge and badass like an angry, screaming monster with the ultimate expressive range-it‘s perfect for shaping single notes or manipulating growling, heavy chords.”
Factory set to John’s personal settings, the JP95 features all the controls he used to find his Cry Baby voice: Volume to add gain, Q to shape the width of the effect, and a 6-band EQ to shape the tone of the wah sound, from 100Hz to 3.2KHz. Want to fine-tune the sound to your own preference? Just take off the bottom plate and tweak away.
The John Petrucci Signature Cry Baby Wah comes in a sturdy, road-ready housing with custom smoked chrome finish and JP shield logo tread.

JP really has such a unique and strange tone. I've never heard a wah sound quite like this, I'm excited for it to come out and can't wait to play on it.

It genuinely warms my heart that Petrucci's finally moved into the limelight of popular music. Seeing him get his own Music Mans, TC pedal, picks and now Cry Baby is such a nice feeling! He's such an incredible musician but because the masses prefer repetitive and catchy, they don't appreciate his music; well all of that seems to be changing for Dream Theater and I'm glad!

Is there anyone who can play as clean as Petrucci can with distortion? Sure he gets that crunchy tone and goes all out when he wants to. But once he switches to melodic mode or begins shredding, everything is so precise and clean, even when he's using a wah. It's nuts

Just got this pedal in. Out of the box it has a very unique sound unlike any Crybaby I've tried before (GCB95 with red Fasel, Wylde and 535Q), very expressive and most definitely not very suitable for the Kirk Hammett wanking wah style. It's best to use it like John does in this video - slow and thoughtful. It sounds almost surreal like another dimension.

This is the best sounding wah I have heard and seen produced in the last few years, it sounds huge, looks badass as hell and it just kicks butt, also, it is the signature pedal of John Petrucci, so I'm definitely buying! (I also dig the way that the internal knobs basically make this pedal a portable rack wah)

I wish somebody would do a demo of what and how the internal controls work and the different tones you can get. I know we could fidget with them but would be nice to hear how others have found some sweet spots as well. I honestly just leave it at Johns settings. Maybe some of the others can offer some tips and findings with this awesome pedal.

Just because Petrucci has been my favourite guitarist for the past 14 years, I almost want to not like something he's put his name on, mostly so my friends don't laugh at me for being such a pathetic fanboy, but, I have a few of his Music Man guitar models...why? because I love them, regardless of what kind of band I happen to be in (for the record, on the DiMarzio pickup picker tool on the website, pretty much every combination points to the JP Liquifire as the #1 choice for a neck humbucker). I bought a pack of the JP picks just to test out whether or not a new credit card was activated properly, as I needed something cheap and quick, and they've now become more appealing to me over my regular Jazz IIIs...I don't even like wah when used with distortion, and I love this! JP, how do you do it?!
