"This is just a demo, you can't physically do any of this"
Yes, Petrucci I understand.
I love that JJ Abrams directs all these videos
Not a lot of people know this but John Petrucci actually directed The Force Awakens. It was based on his life story.
let me guess that bb8 sounds was actually an wah wah
Those lensflares
I love how this guy is always so kind and humble
God this tone is just great. Like his style or not he sounds like a million bucks at all times.
Buy yourself any digital multi Fx from 20 years ago to just released yesterday, you'll have the same tone.
@@stephanemelo I know this comment is 6 years old, but I'll respond anyway. I think many digital effects can get quite close to his tones in a studio recording, but nowhere near when it comes to playing in front of a live amp setup. Having a real Mesa JP-2C and his pedals will always sound more detailed and full than a modeler or multi-effects.
@@shannonmitchell8515 Well, here's the thing: modellers and digital fx emulate the analog stuff anyways.
But does it mean anybody can tell the difference ? Hell no.
I'm sorry but again: his tone sounds like a demo patch from a 2000 multi-fx.
Ok, like a demo patch from a Helix, if you want to talk about being "detailed."
He doesn't sound like a million bnucks, he sounds like à 500$ multifx. Which is nice if you're into that kind of stuff.
I love videos like this. Learning tips and "tricks" from phenomenal musicians like petrucci is like a personal lesson in how to be as complete of a guitar player as you can be. Fucking awesome.
I am sold. Never new about the chord building technique. I've seen Dream Theater live and have heard him to this technique live. Just never knew it was a wah pedal making that sound.
this tone is incredible. what a great wah
0:33 "Cry Baby Petrucci" is exactly what John's older sister used to call him back in the day
God has spoken....we must obey...
hahah.. lol
And he sent the mighty wah to you and you spread it to each other with the good and cheaperst price . I love music bliss
Amen brother!
That term is reserved for yngwie malmsteen.
He's so mellow speaking but when he plays he's a monster
Can someone link this to Kirk?
wah-y you're so cruel? (bad joke...bye)
For some reason i was 100% sure there would be a comment about kirk lol
Bibash Rai the only difference is that Petrucci knows how to use it lol
lol kirk hammetts way fucking better @ wah man who the fuck u kidding.
@@billybobbob3003 "better"
I love this intro.
That guitar sounds menacing as hell.
Very cool.
🎶🎸🎶
And this is a true lesson, telling and teaching how John personally uses the wah. Great!
I was really looking forward to hearing Glass Prison riff. It's the most iconic Dream Theater wah thing for me and I think it's a bit different from all of these other cases.
Also "Home"
The master shares
We listen
This is a really well produced video. JP deserves it.
I like how casually he talks about his work and music he do while knowing very few persons on planet can perform it, LOL
The King of tone
No mention of the main riff of Home from SFAM? It goes like this: WAHWAH! **mass destruction**
He even makes his guitar say the words WAHWAH. There is definitely something special about this guy. And he has screws in his shoes. Keep your eye on this fella.
Would be nice to see a video like this with one of your other endorsees, Jerry Cantrell! :)
John Watrucci is the best guitarist
Legend has it that that beard grew a person
Wah Techniques: Jesus*
Buffed jesus
Great video thanks
Oh oh god.... This sound is so Amazing...
wow.....the Best!Very Great....i will
Petrucci rules !!!
this video is just great! learned a lot
John is great but Lil Wayne is number one. I believe John will be able to catch him in several years but only if he works very hard, or if Lil doesnt quit playin guitar for some reasons...
Jimi Mustang dont compare this guy with the master Lil Weyn
Are you kidding me. Not even 1% skill of wayne that petrucci can reach
You should see dj khalid, or whatever he's called, he literally murders an acoustic. A real legend, stop talking about them Petruccis and Satrianis and Vais and stuff
Quiero un niño llorón 😭 para andar de Petrucci Leavers.
Great instruction and demonstration John, watched quite a few lame videos, should have looked you up first keep rockin
I noticed the delay effect doesn't just repeat the signal at a steady pulse but seems to speed up , what's the deal there?
@Kirk Hammett, you need to see this!!!!
He is looking like a prophet or a Guru! Guitar Guru
WOW! Tone!Wow...
Really cool but my question is: why does he have screws in his shoes? XD
I think exactly the same thing....
monno2600 he is a transformer
So he can tweak his steps. Those are trimpots.
he's the Petruccinator
It's extra screws, when he does those solos, people usually lost their mind, so Petrucci fixes that.
Nice
the real guitar hero
Okay hammett watch it pls
why do i keep coming back to this video? wtf
the last "wha" in 3:28 sounds like the voice of matt bellamy
Patricio Ignacio Aros Lagos Hahahaha
I love the raw blues vintage sound he gets - said noone ever
Interesred for delay tone, can talk about Mr. Petrucci delay setting?
I'd love to hear him play on some really cheap gear. Randall RH200 into behringer 4x12. Average pedal board only.
number 4...aka the Zakk Wylde
0:46 Sony PSX Intro
Can someone tell me what kinda delay is that and settings perhaps
Can you use the normal cry baby wah for metal
3:02 Can someone tell John that his hammer ons and pull offs looks like some one sped up the video by 100%?
This video gets serious @ 2:53
What other effects does he have on?
wow the delay sounds so huge. what kind of delay that he used?
analog, tape delay, etc?
Fractal Audio...Digital in stereo...different times on left & right. One side feeds the other, so it has a staccato type feel, bouncing left and right. JP is a master of how to use delay to set the mood.
i want to know his guitar effect sounds. does anyone knows?
wow
Hey can we forward this to kirk
..... fucking beautiful
fuckin' love this wah !
okay we all get it your freaking awesome lol
Kirk hammett taught John on the techniques of the 4th application of the wah
I never listened to J.P. or Dream Theater but I respect the guy, he's a dude. I used an original Crybaby back in the day and it REALLY SUCKED TONE! I mean it sounded like your tone knob was rolled all the way off they were so bad! Wahs have come a long way and I currently use a CAE MXR Wah and I'd imagine J.P.'s wah in this video is true bypass like mine and offers absolutely zero "tone suck". Good licks & useful video!
kirk aproves
Damn that wah sounds aggressive
Wah!!!! The Killer!!!
Need more kirk hammet
2:02 has a robot
Hey Hammett where you at?
Is he using chorus on lead tones?
Jay Nartz yes
No soy religioso pero en mi opinión jamás escuché un mejor solo con wah.realizado por Wiso Aponte,en el Álbum de Danilo Montero la canción Jesucristo.
Kirk Hammett is not impressed.
Nytron Kirk said where's the other 14 wahs
who cares about kirk, not me.
Sounds like my PS1 starting up.
Is it just me, or does it look like John stepped on a couple of screws and got them embedded into the sole of his shoe?
heheh what i see is just basic use but see look at wahwah as a extra filter also not one ive rarley seen anyone using the wah wah as that a filter also omg so many diffrent filter range you can use with a wahwah set it and leave it
you should ask Mark Speer from Khruangbin, he could teach you more sophisticated ways to use a wah pedal.... and yes for the haters, i know who JohnPetrucci is.
So petrucci has narrowed it down to 4 applications? Kirk hammett keeps it even simpler with two applications: fully cocked and off!
not comparing......just saying......Halen on Balance and on that human's being, had sort of a vibe like this
what a sound :)
kirk hit the like button..
The last one he should have said ever hear zakk wylde?
omg
O wha wha dele é mais grave??
Has he even noticed the screws stuck in his shoes?
Using the crybaby as if it were a volume pedal? Interesting
Wah with a bunch of other crucial effects not mentioned...
Fun Fact: John Petrucci is actually god
Vicente Castro haha
Gan10000001 Neil Young, Slash, Eric Clapton and BB king are overated too .-.
Steve Vai "just plays fast"? He could already read and write music when just learned to walk. Jimmy Page can't write music? I don't even know why I'm writing this you must be 9 years old.
When this guy literally rates Slash over John Petrucci you know he is stupid af. Fun fact I'm a big fan of slash and I actually own his signature les pauls and marshall, but saying slash is better than John Petrucci is just funny haha.
although you can argue that Petrucci is more technically proficient than Slash, I don't like the idea of rating guitar players like that, all the guitar players here have given bucket loads of great music to the rock world and all of them have thing that as a guitar player you can learn from.
Fuck the troll.
Awesome editing….can’t hear any scratches from note to note when the fingers move along the fretboard. I wish my amp had this function
Noise Gate pedal maybe?
I lowkey read war techniques
Pffft! says Kirk Hammet.
And just like that, John played licks that were so sexy even the men watching this got pregnant
GOOD POINTS GOOD TECHNIQUES COOL SOUND - CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042
Actually he left out the most important tip for Wah playing which is use a Vox.
Did you know vox and cry baby Dunlop are the exact same pedal?
Vox created the cry baby to sell to the other non vox dealers so they could stay on top of the wah industry.......something like that
Wow, listen to that.... my Crybaby GCB95 sounds like crap. It destroys my tone and it's range is just annoyingly wide. It sounds like JP uses a lot of effects after the wah to get that tone.
Not at all. He is actually a tone purist, and his signal path is clean as fuck. A handful of TC stompboxes and his wah out front. His signature Boogie head x2 in stereo with an Axe Fx in the loop.
the trootch wah is a little to modern sounding. kinda like a mark tremonti wah or something. i prefer my original crybaby
People keep comparing God and JP. I mean he's a great guy, but he's no JP
Old joke, but still a damn good one
GOOD POINTS GOOD TECHNIQUES COOL SOUNDS - CARLOS GUITARLOS 90042
Great sound but it could be better... you should add in some chorus to thicken it up a bit 😛
Great job Jim Dunlop Wah techniques with JP but not KIRK HAMMETT
Yea, waht's that about??
ummm... wah.... t?
vox wah sounds better
Is this cool with low tunings/7-8 strings etc? The typical cry baby sucks out all the bottom end. The bass wah just doesn't have the character either.
