Thanks for the video, I picked up a 110 for my crappy rig and need it right-handed. I absolutely love this reel and the price was right. A good ol boy gave me the reel and had never been used that he bought in 1973. The crappy are already nervous 😂😂😂
I'd be nervous too! Best wishes for great fishing with the reel - Dennis
My dad always used these reels. Now I have them and still use them regularly. Thanks for the vid on how to service them.
YW - glad they helped you. Best wishes for great fishing with your reels - Dennis
Great video. I bought a DAM 220 for around $10. Looks brand new. Will have to swap it to a left hand model so I can use it.
Sounds like you got a good deal. Enjoy the reel - Dennis
Hi Dennis, My father did the work you do in Louisville KY for the last 40 years. I was never really into it but did spend what little time I got to spend at home with him watching him work. He passed this year and I decided to clean up some of my own reals to get ready for the fishing season. I started easily with some old Zebco 33 and 44 reels. Then progressed to Mitchell 300s and Penn Spinning reels. I had trouble with a few of my Penn bait caster reels so I started watching your videos. I’m now hooked on both your videos and reel repair. It will probably always be a hobby for me but I’m loving it anyway.
I’m glad you are recording your work so the processes will be there forever. I only wish my dad had done the same. I find myself watching the videos and trying to guess which step you will say to do next. I’m getting better at it.
Anyway back to the reason for my comment. I just received two D.A.M. Quick 330 reels. They operate smoothly and I’m thinking they might become some of my favorite reels. I’ve watched you use two different methods for removing the handles from this style of reels. One involves removing the inside roll pin behind the gear, the other removed the exterior pin at the handle joint. Is either method preferred and if so which one?
Thanks for all you are doing. You provide a great resource.
Either is fin. It depends on what you are trying to do. To remove the main gear, you need to pull the internal pin. To just remove the handle, it is the external one and of course, pull both is you are doing a complete service. If you are simply oiling the internals, leave both in place and just remove the side plate.
Thanks Dennis, I just need to remove the handle shaft for cleaning and lubrication. The reals are performing flawlessly and I want to keep them that way.
Hey Dennis ..when I get my 330 tomorrow I'm switching it over to right hand Thanks for the video as always...
YW - the 308 is in the mail - Best wishes - Dennis
Hello Dennis, greetings from Old Germany! I still fish with these DAM reels today. You probably already know the trick to taking care of the spool because unfortunately the plastic hardens and tears. Therefore you should lubricate the coils (only the plastic) well with Vaseline and let it take effect. Then clean and everything is like new. Best regards and happy fishing! Rudi
Rudi - Thanks for the tips! I appreciate your note and that you are watching from Germany. Best wishes - Dennis
Dziękuję za recenzję 🤝 🍻
Dzięki Tobie i twojej pracy aż chce się wrócić do starych kołowrotków .
Pozdrawiam 🇵🇱 👍
You are welcome!
Hi Dennis that's my favorite real for a long time but I ended up with a damn quick 280 which I just bought last summer. Good things are worth waiting for. I use it on my 12 and 1/2 ft Fenwick light ultralight. It balances perfectly.Dont bear much these days about balance in fishing outfit's. Great to see such high quality.
I like these D.A.M. reels! From the ultra lights to the Super models. All are very well made - Dennis
Thanks Dennis! This was my father in laws favorite reel. His old house across town has about twenty D.A.M. reels of different sizes and rods to match. I guess I'll be busy once I get them. Be safe.
Enjoy those reels - they are treasures - Dennis
This is wild - I just now finished cleaning up and servicing a DAM Quick 270 Super. It was absolutely filthy on the outside and relatively clean on the inside. Very unusual! I have 3 270 Supers, a 331, and a 550 DAM quick reel. They are built like tanks. I thought about collecting the set - 110 to 550. Do all 330 reels like this have those three big holes in the bottom of the rotor. I don’t think my 331 has them and the Supers and 550 don’t have them either. I’m sure they are great for drainage. If you pack grease on these larger bearings should I pack the huge bearings in my Luxor Saumon Mer reels? I’ve never done that. This conversion was very interesting. I assume this is how you’d do it on other DAM Quick reels built like this. Thanks Dennis!
I have. few more that I will be doing soon - Dennis
Hi Dennis,
Kudos on this DAM Quick 330 handle swap !! You made it look reel easy, but I found myself scratching my head quite a bit for some reason ? Great internal parts too ...
Best Regards,
Cons
There are very well made reel and they deserve the well earned reputation - Be well Cons - Dennis
Dennis Excellent tutorial. You made it look easy - when I did it six weeks ago I removed the handle - which now I know is not required.
Any chance you would do a tutorial on a Dam Quick 221 or 441?
Thanks!
Tad
Thanks Tad. I don't have a 221 or 441 right now. I will. add it to may request list and try to do a video when one shows up. I appreciate the feedback. Glad it helped - Dennis
Eso que mostraste es lo notable de ese reel la biela intercambible soy zurdo y uso la manivela a la derecha muy buen vidro desde montevideo un saludo
Saludo - Feliz de haber ayudado - gracias por mirar - Dennis
I have my 220 and 550 right hand reel
Those black reels have a strong drag
Those reels are among my favorites. Glad to hear yours are still going strong - Dennis
Does the bowl (rotor) on a 110 come apart like that? I removed the nut and couldn't get it budge. Thanks for the video, you make the best Dam Quick videos.
I can't recall if this one lifts off or unscrews. Have you tried unscrewing it? I will check in my shop to see if I can find one to give you a better answer.
Thanks for asking
Dennis
@@2ndChanceTackle I can’t remember if I tried unscrewing it, I think I did but will try again. Thanks, Gordon
@@gordonlechner4474 Just serviced one, mine unscrews
I have one of these I would never take it apart never. Oil it good and use it.
I understand! The video is there is you need it! Thanks - Dennis
How do you replace the bail spring?
I think the one on the 440 is the same. You can watch how to do that one here ua-cam.com/video/44MbXw1FViY/v-deo.html
Thank you
Need info n bail spring for dam quick 330. With screws n just the handle side
You can find the schematic and part numbers through this link www.reelschematic.com/reel-schematics/dam-quick-reel-schematics/#gsc.tab=0. I do not have those parts - Dennis
@2ndChanceTackle thank you found the site. I believe mine is the older version as it only had three screws to hold a plate on the other side of reel has number 2 stamped on foot of main body
Love you're demos on repairs. They have helped me on several different brands of reels
Das war jetzt ein kugellager (Now THAT was a ball bearing.)
Yes it is! Thanks - Dennis
Too much plastic and pot metal. Cant
be any good. Also needs more ball
bearings. Dont use so many paper towels.
Good one Armando! I’m still laughing.
Me Too!
Well, we know now that the paper towel shortage wasn't coming from Dennis😂
@@mikemcelveen2973 Absolutely not. No one is more austere in paper towel usage!
