You can see Hawthorn pitting the following lap as he broke so hard that he missed the pits in his first attempt. He definitely somehow contributes to the tragedy will all respect to his memory.
the one scene was hoping to be upscaled or colored in is not, I am assuming it is because it's the only footage that has a panning camera shot. I have seen a lot more footage of the disaster from the British Pathe I believe, it is pretty crazy.
You notice they never show you the Mercedes rear body work opening up like a flap to help the burnt out brakes in the corners? Look at frame 1 min and 50 seconds on this and see the Mercedes coming round the corner behind the D types with its rear body just shutting down from its upright position as an air brake, its clearly visible if not 4 seconds of film This is why they pulled out as they didn't have the brakes They even had to fit a clear window in the flip up back as drivers complained from behind they couldn't se ahead when it came up And then ofc the Austin Healy that caused the crash along with its driver and the works Healy team saying nothing as hawthorn took the blame lots of bad things in this race but none of them jaguar or its drivers
Stirling Moss found that, in addition to aiding braking, partial deployment of the 300SLRs airbrake helped stabilise his car through medium speed corners.
Saying the Austin Healey caused the crash and let Hawthorn and the Jag team take the blame is way too harsh. What did you expect Lance Macklin to do? Hawthorn essentially brake checked him (unintentionally) and he had no where to go. Do you work at Jaguar? This is a pretty unpopular opinion
One of the most tragic races in motorsport history. Thank you for keep uploading.

Amazingly clear footage, best I`ve seen.
Even though this race played host to one of the biggest motorsport tragedies ever, I’m impressed that the video quality is as good as it is.
That gets me too, the picture quality is amazing
Fantastic footage, Thanks!
This is fantastic 👍👍Thank you for your sharing 🙏👍
RIP Pierre Levegh 1905-1955
and the race goes on...😱
Incredible footage of a most tragic race.
Nice job of matching audio to video.
I beg you Sir, keep uploading other Le Mans' footoges! I'm a fanatic of sportcars and addicted to Le Sarthe's 24 Hours so bad!!!
It's La Sarthe
Some spectators lost their heads from a flying bonnet, very sad!!

Also because it would've been gory,,
Which ain't for this website
What a sound ! Fantastic ! So different for today !
Complimenti per il filmato

Different breed back then. More adventurer than councilor.
Hard to believe one of those drivers and 83 people will die later that evening
