I sell roofs in PA and FL markets. I keep it real like you do. People say "the other guy is selling me tamko why are yours better?" mean while I'm selling OC or GAF. Homeowners really need to do their own research on not just the contractor but the products and processes the contractor is using for installing their roof. Yes I would be that homeowner who watches a crew install my entire roof. Its cheap insurance... someone tells me they are getting 6 nails per shingle and I see the crews using 3-4 nails or worse, staples. I want my investment in my roof to last as long as it can due to proper install with a proper product. Keep up the great work Dmitry!
Awesome video and some great points. I wanted to get your take on shingles lasting longer because of better accessories added to a full roofing SYSTEM these days. Most roofs we are replacing only have felt paper, ventilation (maybe), cheap pipe flashing and some hip and ridge caps. They are needing to be replaced most of the time I notice not necessarily because the shingles are failing (some cases this is true) but because of the lack of products in specific areas No Drip edge, No SYNTHETIC underlayment, No leak barrier (in the south builders or a lot of roofers never use). Most manufacturers are giving these warranties ONLY if a certain number of accessories are used to create a full system with more protection. So if we see roofs lasting 18-25 years with just felt paper, is it possible adding all the other components that have improved including ULTIMATE LIFETIME PIPE FLASHING (50 year flashing that I would also love to get your review and take on) that its possible a Architectural asphalt roof could get to a 40-50 year mark without having major issues? NOW I do agree by the time 25-30 year mark comes the roof will be very discolored, stained, and have granule loss. Would love to get your opinion on how long you think the improved accessories are helping the shingle life.. Thanks Dmitry and keep leading us! Cars have recalls. Toys have recalls. Food industry have recalls. Roofing manufacturers have problems with quality too. But we never see recalls. They don’t want roofers to talk about quality issues. Roofers are afraid to talk about it because they will be sued. Manufacturers are lawyered up and don’t mess around. Cease and desist letters are coming fast to those who talk. Roofers sign contracts with “None-disparaging” clause in it. Many don’t even know it because they don’t speak good English, have good lawyer or read fine print. Reality is, roofing manufacturers became the industry and control it. They don’t want you to know this information. But: they have been cheating everyone and making huge profits of it. Hello Dmitry, I subscribe in your channel to learn more about roofing or solar. I am so glad watching your videos, it helps us homeowners to know the cons especially here in Florida. Thank so much for the great information you’ve shared to us especially to us military retirees. We live in our pension, it’s not much so once in a while we do some part time jobs just to supplement it. We are in our late 50’s and would like to enjoy life to the fullest, our house is our only we can say “asset” so we would like to take care of it. Sometimes it’s so hard, no matter how simple life we have…..insurance, property tax and etc. keeps going up because your house value is going up. Sad to say but a lot of militaries especially retirees where I live have to move out somewhere or to a different country where it’s cheap to live. American people are suffering in their own country, they should be the first priority before anyone else! USA always help but those countries doesn’t even show gratefulnesses but instead hate and try to ruin us all. Dmitry could you look into why are all the manufacturers increasing their prices every other month.? All brands are over $100.00/sq and going up. Is this one more way of manufacturers cheating us?

I stopped at Directorii. But I will add, you showed the surestart warranty. I am an SSM and I am the longest tenured SSM in Michigan. I can tell you if a Surestart +4 for instance fails certainteed has been great about replacing it, completely. That said, I do warn all of my customers that in this state they are only going to last 19-22 years. By hiring an SSM and buying the extended warranty they do not need to fret about the next roof. I agree that it makes no sense but at least we can stack the deck. Also algae resistance is a joke along with ridiculous wind warranties.
Don’t stop at directorii 😂 some manufacturers are much better than others when comes to algae performance. Nothing beats malarkey and atlas with copper. It’s science
@@SFCISME because 3-5% is not enough, compared to 10-12% in Malarkey/Atlas. Numbers don’t lie, I have seen roofs way passed 10 years that look great. Big problem in Seattle. Malarkey is king of market there

They said they could not get the better shingles during the Corona virus. The new shingles curled and took a week to lay flat. Vent is letting hot air from the shingles come into my garage which made it 110 degrees. With no vent it had never been above 80 degrees in the garage. I am thinking of removing the garage vent. I don't put my car in the garage. The garage is mostly storage.
Yea, my parents wanted to get OC Woodcrest Cool or GAF Grand Sedona. OOS from OC’s Compton plant or GAF’s Fresno plant. Duration Cool and Timberline HDZ RS was all in stock at Beacon/ABC though.

Yo! Great video! I'm a senior in highschool about to graduate. I'm working for a guy who does roofing and I'll be his only employee. He is a great boss and said I have a good head on my shoulders. He also said at the pace I'm going I'll be able to start my own roofing company in 2-3 years. I'm so motivated to do this. Do you have any advice for me... anything would be greatly appreciated man.
#8 buying the silence and participation of contractors in their scams by over charging for their product so they can give kickbacks to the contractor in the form of rebates and drunken tropical vacations. #9 pretending the certifications mean something instead of admitting in most cases they are tied to how much of their product you sell rather than quality of installs and integrity of the contractor.
Alot of contractors in GA Install UNWRAPPED shingles or SILCO shingles and advertise them as 30 Year full warranty shingles and cut prices down to 186 per Sq! How can I compete against that? I've gone to at least 40 Properties on the past 2 months where they show me estimates from companies charging 186 a sq! Helppp any advice?
