  • Hi Guys and welcome back to The Kneady Homesteader channel where today, I show you how I make homemade Apple Cider Jelly and water bath can it. Now, I choose to preserve mine by canning it, but you could put it in jars and throw it in your fridge if your don't can. However, I am a HUGE advocate of canning and home food preservation and now is the best time to learn this life skill from yester-year! This is how we fill out pantry with joy!
    #thejoyfulpantry #canning #canningandpreserving #homemadejelly
    Apple Cider Jelly Recipe:
    12 cups cold water
10-12 Honeycrisp Apples (Or apple of your choice)
    8-10 cinnamon sticks
    1/2 tsp ground cloves
Slow cook for minimum 24 hours.
When you go to strain, use a pot, colander and cheesecloth.
    Measure 6 cups of cider
Measure out 6 cups of sugar
Take 1/4 cup of sugar from that 6 cups, and add to a small bowl.
    Add 3-4 tbs pectin. Mix.
Pour 6 cups of cider into new pot.
Add the 1/4 cup sugar/pectin blend
turn on heat. Medium-high. Bring to a boil.
Once boiling add the remaining 5 3/4 cup sugar. Mix well.
keep stirring bring back up to a boil.
Boil 2-3 minutes and check set (I use frozen spoons) Make sure the jelly is jelling well.
    Turn off heat.
    Ladle into jars
Makes 8 half pints plus a little extra so your family can taste test the new jelly!
    Happy Canning!

I would be willing to buy some from her!!! I bet this is beyond amazing❤ I'm recovering from a car accident myself. And have had to get 5 back procedures already. And I'm still not done. My neck area is next. And I suffered a TBI. So my memory is horrible like aphasia. I barely remember my wedding day. Alot of my early memories r just gone. 😢 so this lady surely inspires me❤

I have been craving apple cider so I bought a big jug. I know..but apples are expensive here too. Since my kids are now grown and the house is empty, I know I'm not going to drink all that so I came here in search of an apple cider jelly...and there is Heather, canning in her kitchen!! It fills my heart with joy to see you canning again. Hallelujah!! Praise Jesus!! I'm bringing you along tomorrow, so we can do this together. I'm so excited! Big hugs and thank you for sharing this with us. ❤🙌🙏

Last year, I had some apple scrap jelly, that I put apple pie spice in, that didn't set. I tasted it, and it reminded me of an intense apple juice/cider concentrate. So I used it during the holidays, by putting it in a crock pot, adding water to it, and I dropped in a couple cinnamon sticks, to warm up slowly. It made my house smell incredible, and drinking a hot cup of apple juice/cider, from homemade concentrate, while eating my homemade pecan rolls, to me, is the definition of the holidays!
My message to all those whose jelly does not set....find a way to use it as a drink or recipe additive (we don't drink alcohol, but apple juice/cider concentrate, or other fruit concentrate, can be a great drink mixer!).

covering you in my love and prayers. there is a void. a deafening silence when someone you love so much, dies. it is eerie. it is uncomfortable. it is heartbreaking. there is no coming back. I used to sit and cry and felt like......if Matt knew how angry I was, or how heartbroken I was, he would come back to check on me. But, there is none of that. The silence and absence is so incredibly loud. I am so so sorry. Grief is a whole other level. And, it is something we all go through. We all experience. And yet our society hides it away.....we make people grieve alone. I can not tell you how many friendships I lost because people couldn't handle my grieving The fun Heather was gone. So they left too. That added another level of grief to my experience. It's a lot. It is definitely something I want to talk about. Pain. Loss. Grief. Keep her boys close to you and let them talk about their struggles. I know grief therapy was a must for me and my kiddos. :( I am so incredibly sorry, sis. :(

@@rachelekelly2872 it’s basically like apple preserves, you just substitute 1/2 of the regular cane sugar with brown sugar, add 1/4 tsp of ground nutmeg and 1 tsp of cinnamon and that’s it! I had some frozen apples in my refrigerator freezer and used those. I cooked them in 1 cup of water and mashed them with a potato masher. I water bath canned them for 10 minutes.

    • @user-xu1fd3gi7f
      @user-xu1fd3gi7f 11 місяців тому

Most of the time you use 6 cups of fresh diced apples and cook them in a cup of water and then add all of the other ingredients, including 1 packet of pectin. ❤️

I’m so very happy to see you back in the canning kitchen on UA-cam! When you can two or more batches back to back, do you start your second batch on the stove as you’re pulling out your first batch from the canner? Or how does that timing work? Sorry if you explained it and I missed! I am working on making mesquite bean jelly (rebel canning) and I tried a double batch that failed lol so I’m going to do it again but the right way this time! Love from south Texas ❤

    • @TheKneadyHomesteader
