The Iron Claw tells the comedy filled story of A Fortune in gold, taken from the wreck of a Spanish galleon, is hidden in the home of Anton Benson, a reclusive miser. The entire Benson family and household want the gold for themselves, including a mystery villain known as the Iron Claw. Newspaper journalist Bob Lane, with his photographer Jack Strong and Benton's niece Patricia, attempt to get to the bottom of the mystery. This comedy spoof of the Old Dark House films is serial form is worth the viewing!
Aficionados of old movie serials will undoubtedly notice that many of the writers of this one also were involved in the writing of many of the Republic classic serials of the same period. The major difference is the respective styles of Republic and Columbia, both of which were considered about a half-step above poverty row at the time. Still, not bad. Just wish this video was higher quality, but, hey, you can only work with what you have available. Merry Christmas, fellow serial fans! 🎅
When movie's were 35 cents couldn't wait to see the next one every week.Awesome✔️✔️✔️

What a great cliff hanger this has got it all
Love the claw!
Of course!!!
I always wanted one of those press cameras.
It's a Graflex Speed Graphic. You can find them on Ebay, but they aren't cheap.
3:29:39 The Claw shows up to scare off two men.
THE CLAW!
It is reminiscent of the Green Archer which I think is one of the best serials ever. I'm just disappoint in the quality, it's hard to see what's going on in the night sequences. Still better than nothing.
I agree, unfortunately this was the best quality source I could find. But I'm glad you are enjoying it in spite of the quality of the print.
WHO IS THE IRON CLAW?
The music is half the movie.
All of it for me, screen is black most of the time
This one went on for far too long. It started of very intruiging before the usual predictable fight scenes took over, but I simply could not stand that woman's constant screaming. Because of her screaming, I had to skip at least 3 hours of this to the last chapter to see who was the Iron Claw. Anyways, many thanks for posting. Much appreciated.
Same here; dreadful.
Most of the serial is pitch black. Probably my television.
Unfortunately it's the best quality print I could find. I did boost the blacks as much as I could, but they were already crushed in the print.
this was decent, my only real issue is when the action took place at night you couldn;t what the heck was going on.
I agree about the night scenes. I tried to raise the blacks a little, but unfortunately they were so crushed that there was no image there.
@@AtomicAgePictures oh so it was more the print than them not having well-lit night scenes.
@@tomjohnson4922 absolutely. These serials even though they were very low budget were photographed by ASC (American Society of Cinematographers) cinematographers who were very well versed and experienced in the film industry. They knew what they were doing and produced really beautiful black and white photography. If you've ever seen a really good print of one of these films it's astonishing how good they look. The problem here is that we're probably looking at a 16 mm print that was badly transferred to video in the first place.
@@AtomicAgePictures will admit I've noticed that. I watched the Crimson Ghost which was cleaner and now watching the 1949 Batman and Robin which is a fantastic print. I enjoy watching them with breakfast.
the lron claw 1941 serial
What a terrible, confusing ending!
