This was an enjoyable serial, I liked it very much. The henchman was relentless to no end. That sport coat didn't receive one tear after all those knock down, drag out fights, amazing. This heroine in this one was a little bit harder. She got in there and got her hands dirty and was willing to blaze the villains if she got the chance. Good stuff.

I just discovered these old movies I use watch them at my grandmas whenever I was spending the night with her.. (yes dear readers I’m that old)
    Only these weren’t considered old..
Whenever I stayed with her I would walk down to the theater and watch these serial movies so I could keep up with them.
And of course back then you could walk the city blocks without any worry.
And yes you could by Coke for a dime and cigarettes were only 45
cent’s and no I didn’t smoke back then but I would go down to the local store and pick some up for my Grandma. My mom would have flipped out if she knew..I don’t think she ever found out about that.

Years ago, the late Dick Clark featured scenes from this serial as an example of “ a hero 🦸‍♂️ who couldn’t do anything without his girlfriend.” They showed every scene where Linda Stirling saved Richard Bailey’s bacon 🥓 and he said, “Thanks, Claire.” They also noted that she, not the hero, killed the main villain. Clark and his cohost thought it was funny and kept repeating “Thanks, Claire” for the rest of the special. I was thinking “What a great role model for young women today.” She wasn’t a superhero 🦸‍♀️, but she sure acted like one 👍!

Have never seen this 1 before, but I recognize scenes that shows I grew up on would recycle, climactic boat chase in From Russia With Love (they also turned North By Northwest biplane pursuit into helicopter chase), or dunking Mrs. Peel in The Avengers in Murdersville, torturing female lead to get her to talk, how long has waterboarding existed?

He fingers the wrong guy and gets him killed, fumbles around and lets all the other innocent men get killed, and gets himself in at least a half dozen messes Claire has to bail him out of. He doesn't even kill the main bad guy - she does. She should have saved her money and done it all herself. She practically did anyway. Besides, it was only 1945. Why wasn't he in the service, battling Axis enemies? No wonder Claire didn't even kiss him once. What a jerk! Patrick Miano is right. it was a long while back so i might be wrong - but i remember the villain being changed halfway through this.
(in the early episodes that electric chair thing would make the pirate mephisto revert to one character but in the last episode he reverted to somebody else?)
and that is why some sources say the pirate mephisto was higgins but others sources say it was braley?
or were higgins and braley secretly the same person who both could transform into mephisto? or there was some other explanation given?
