This little group interprets Bach more authentically than I've so often heard. I say this because they honor the dance-like phrasing and energy of the Baroque. I've never felt like dancing to a concerto before.
This was positively exquisite. Whoever mics you for sound knows what they are doing. These live performances are perfectly balanced, and as I have said before, the cello/bass are "right there!" I just love the energy you all put forth. BRIAN
The first video I listen/saw from Voices of Music was Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, in the final movement something that amaze me so much was the sound of the cellos and the bass. the sound in the right channel and some in the middle is great!! I was listening through headphones. Bower&Wilkins P7.
I like this low-frequency resonance in the bass reverb. Very beautiful record. Great natural sound of instruments in church

Brilliant! I love the organ+archlute combination in the continuo instead of the usual harpsichord. Very rich sound. People always praise the soloist (and in this case, rightfully so, Carla Moore plays excellently), but I think the basso continuo is what makes a great performance really great! The only thing I dislike about this recording is that the second and the third movement are not present. A real shame... :(
This is so exquisitely beautiful in its artistic attack, devotion, performance, that we are lucky, indeed very privileged to hear the Greatness of Bach the supreme creator of this era, for no-one has given the whole world more inspiration to see ahead and love one another and this challenged planet. Bach remains a light, a beacon, a great example, a stunning inspiration, a superb recourse to seeking peace and love.
The playing is stellar and really embodies the true baroque style, clean and tight with that rhythmic bounce, judicious use of vibrato -marvellous! I like it a shade faster personally but that's just my own preference. The sonic texture produced by the old instruments is really incredible!
this is why I love old instruments or replicas, this baroque strings sound beautiful and warm because of their intestine strings, correct me if I'm wrong, beautiful performance
I am playing this right now and I decided to turn down my normal 440 to 415 to hear it how Bach would hear it and man lemme tell you, you will never want to hear it in 440 again!
Jay Preis Another win for WW1! Not only did it create the Roaring Twenties, kill over a hundred million young men, and create a political shift forever, it also destroyed all the little things we used to love, like a loaf of bread that wasn't presliced and a violin strung with gut.
I play rock n roll music but I love listening to classical. My knowledge of the music is minimal but I'm always drawn to Bach, and these videos are especially moving. If Voices of Music ever come to New York this rocker will be in the audience.
incredible. there is 3 caind of bach. one, the dark and maistral tube organ composer, other the celestial and heavenly corals composer; and one of the finest and caind thand made this music. no one like j s bach
I've played this during my All-County and All-State Auditions last year, and I'm going to play this when the "Concerto Night" audition comes next January!
Que lindo , musicais e concertos ao violino muito lindo. Apesar que não sei tocar pois perto da minha casa não tem um conservatório, mais um dia aprendo, e tenho um violino
Hi, your videos are pure and subtle. Do you plan to come to Kolkata, India for a concert? There are people who appreciate the form of music you play....
I can hear the allegro from Violin Concerto in A Minor from Vivaldi Op.3, No.6. I think ths piece can show us how much J. S. Bach admired Vivaldi's music. ^_^
Jay Preis I don't really think of all the Bach concertos as "concerto grosso" form. The A Minor is a solo concerto, and the many of the other concertos are ensemble concertos. But listening to Vivaldi's Op. 3 No. 6 I don't hear a big stylistic similarity, to be sure--certainly less than for example the Dresden concerti.
Jay Preis I see the concerto grosso and the solo concerto as being quite different--there is no real conversation between the soloists in a solo concerto, or sharing and developing the thematic material. The harmonic and contrapuntal foundations are completely different.
Voices of Music Hopefully, it will be available soon. :) Very impressive playing by Carla Moore. In fact, I like her rendition of the A minor Concerto much better than Itzhak Perlman's. :)
It's the first time I heard this piece of music played with an Organ continuo instead of a Harpsichord! Does anyone know whether the continuo part was written for any keyboard instrument (Klavier) or was it keyboard-specific (Orgel/Cembalo)?
There are extant holograph parts but not the holograph score, later copies indicate "basso continuo." Bach was an organist, so the organ is always a reasonable choice.
Reasonable, maybe; but not conclusive. Yes, indeed, JS was an organist; but many of his keyboard pieces were also intended for the Cembalo like the "48" and maybe the French- and English Suites and Partitas [for Klavier] too! I think JS was quite [Cembalo]-specific with those pieces even though they could be performed on an Organ. He must have deliberately omitted specifying any specific keyboard instrument for this- and his other Concerti, following earlier practices among musicians, taking into consideration of what [keyboard] was available at the time and location (=venue). Would that make sense? BTW, I heard the "48", Suites and Partitas mentioned above performed on an Organ; and that didn't sound too bad. The directive "Basso Continuo" could, I suppose, be regarded as editorial (as modern reprints of music are) rather than a holograph.

Great insight. These artists NAIL this stuff.

Well said, a sound man can make or break a performance, this group is one the best if not the best on youtube👍
I was thinking the same thing! I want to talk to whoever mic'd them so badly! 🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾

Spectacular playing; phrasing, verve, intonation. From the first note, one has to stop and listen.
Continua meravellant aquesta musica tant extraordinariament ben tocada ...Congratulations !!!!
I think the point at 1:44-1:45 and 3:40-3:41 is so wonderful
totally agree, the trill at 1:44 to end the phrase is heaven
Can't agree more
Décidément, difficile de vous prendre en défaut, quel jeu, quelle clarté musicale, c'est splendide, bravo encore une fois
Merci.
One Bach's greatest hits impeccably performed as always by Voices of Music. Fantastic!
The unity in this piece was what made me want to start playing in a group. What an amazing piece.
what a pure sounds! period instruments and playing styles have great possibilities!

I love your way of playing this. Also the organ in the continuo is something I like.

They were testing if the dislike button really works
I think that's all it means

George Bailey a wonderful suggestion my friend.many of us await such a concert most eagerly.
Sublime
שמחת חיים !!!!!!!!
marvilous
Maravillosa interpretación. Podría compartirnos los movimientos II y III? De antemano gracias.
Do you have the others moviments? I wanted see! amazing sound...
I think it's the same theme that bach used in the harpsichord concerto in G minor. But both pieces are unique in the way they sound like .
Bach the prince of baroque
Bach, the Louis XIV of baroque!
eindeloos !
💙🌸
i am jealous, ensemblespel is só nice to do....
I can hear the allegro from Violin Concerto in A Minor from Vivaldi Op.3, No.6. I think ths piece can show us how much J. S. Bach admired Vivaldi's music. ^_^
It also shows how Bach is gigantic!
Jeffery Wyss How so? Virtually all German composers of the period were emulating the Italian concerto form.

Is this on Apple Music?
Can I listen this piece on Spotify?
Does anyone have tips on how to play baroque style?
Question: Is this Violin Concerto available on the Concerto Barocco: Baroque Concertos recording?
Hugo Chikamori No, we just recorded this one. On Concerto Barocco is the Bach D Minor Double Concerto.
Voices of Music Hopefully, it will be available soon. :) Very impressive playing by Carla Moore. In fact, I like her rendition of the A minor Concerto much better than Itzhak Perlman's. :)
Does anybody know where this concert hapenned and when?
March 9, 2013, St. Marks Lutheran, San Francisco.
There is influence from Vivaldi in here.
Yes, it has some real Italian style, even if the episodes are more Bachian.
Is it A=415 ?
Yes.
