- Having completed the Guineas/Derby double, Nashwan's next task was to prove himself against older opposition, starting with this race. Despite having only recently recovered from a foot infection and being up against both the brilliant mare Indian Skimmer and the champion miler Warning, he was sent off the 2/5 favourite. Nashwan took the lead approaching the final furlong and won by five lengths from outsider Opening Verse, who later won the Breeders' Cup Mile.

Wonderful looking horse with the ability to match his great looks.
I was there to see Nashwan and also at The Derby, great horse and we all thought this was the next Dancing Brave
To give a Breeders Cup Mile winner 8 lengths start at the 3f pole and catch him by the 2 furlong tells you how great Nashwan was.
