- 2 Israeli Air Force ( זְרוֹעַ הַאֲוִויר וְהַחָלָל ) Boeing 707's screams as they roar down the runway to takeoff from Gander International Airport ( CYQX ). The first one is a Boeing 707-366C Re'em ( 295 ) and the second a Boeing 707-3L6C ( 272 ).

I'm so glad I had the opportunity fly on quite a few 707s (and DC-8s) during my childhood going to and from Europe.
I know its not environmentally friendly but I find the black smoke absolutely cool
In an era where people could appreciate and enjoy Earth's shattering noise unlike today where everything has to be quiet I'll take the noise any day of the week and the black smoke.
Being in the terminal when one of these babies was thundering out of an airport was an era when air travel was truly romantic.

I flew on a 707 to Sydney, Australia in 1970. They and the DC-8's were the commercial Freedom Birds that flew us back to the U.S. from Vietnam.
Boeing 707 is the old classic lady that even know how to roll over.... Try me Airbus!
