Wow, the dueling guitar solos btwn Dave & Snowy leading to the vocals in SOYCD (pts VI-IX) are WILD!
It's clear that once Nick starts playing straight 16th notes on his kick drum, the band basically gets lost in the form for a while - it's a miracle that they ever recovered!
Snowy really locks it in by stating the melody at the top of the final phrase, which orients the whole band at the same place in the arrangement.
Dave & Rog are having a laugh about it during the vocals!
So glad this recording is captured for posterity!

I was there right in front of David, as close as can do, right at the barricades for the whole show - we got there about an hour or more before it started.
Total zoo of a crowd, worst ever..

Roger in particular I guess hated doing stadium shows. They missed the small intimate cult following they had in their early years. I think what really pushed him over the edge was the shows that coincided with the 4th of July, with concert goers setting off fireworks in the crowd during the slow/quiet songs. That didn’t start here, they were during that during the Cleveland show too

Wish I was there, indeed. What a truly epic concert this must have been, to witness the Floyd in '77, and all at the very top of their craft, and graced by Snowy White's brilliant guitar whenever required, plus a sexy saxophone played to inspire generations on Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Money, which in turn, has caused my deep regret from missing their '77 Animals tour at Riverfront Coliseum in Cincinnati, to (hehe), flashback again. But in truth, that's still better than some of my other memories I have from back in the day there, like on 12/03/1979, at about 7:26 pm, as I stood there outside on the pavilion, and hopelessly stuck in a bottleneck of 18,000 half-frozen rockers, all of us wanting to get inside, find a seat, perhaps spark some leaf and enjoy a highly anticipated, sold-out show, but for the first time ever, delayed by coliseum security's newest idiotic decision to give' every rocker entering the coliseum a "pat down", searching for illegal contraband, which may or may not have been directed or fostered by Cincy's prudish, ultra-conservative City Council, who were "up in arms" over the various substances being enjoyed before, during and after rock concerts, and they wanted "something done about it, or else!". Sadly, this may have somehow prompted coliseum security to only open 4 gates of the main entrance to help control the crowd, but for some unknown reason, not until about 7:00pm, for a (mostly) general admission, long sold-out concert that started at 8:05pm, apparently so that they could better control the crowd as they entered and facilitate their search, which in the end (sadly), I believe caused 26 rockers to be sent to local hospitals for their severe trauma injuries incurred in the crowd while waiting to get inside, to miss that epic concert. But most sad and needlessly tragic, the 11 rockers not here today to bore you with their memories of their past concerts, because they instead were sent to the Coroner's Office, so they not only missed THE WHO concert that cold, wintery night, but also the rest of their young adult lives (may they all R.I.P., they are not forgotten). As scary as the crowd stampede at 7:26pm that carried me about 10-15 feet as I was being pushed down from behind me was, I know I am indeed, damn lucky to have survived that cold and needlessly tragic 3rd night of December in 1979, at Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati Ohio, and apparently so I can sometimes bore readers or listeners with that memory. So, to whoever the kind soul is that posted this gem of perfection, I say without hesitation, "BRAVO!" (and thank you!).
