Telomeres Tell 'em Years ____________________________ Rationale for the discontinuation of Telling People How Old You Are (and why it's not fair to you, your family, or your innocent friends) I think you should stop telling people how old you are. You're kinda screwing yourself. And it's not fair to other people either, they shouldn't have to pay the price for other people constantly disclosing sensitive information. I think it's absolutely ridiculous and find it incredibly insulting when they do that in check-out lines at pharmacies, gas stations, etc. It's like...do you want me to buy into your shitty product or not? Do you want me to participate iin this b.s. economy that you keep holding as so incomparably precious to you and your hourly way of life? Well then, how about you stop telling them how old she/he/we are? I know you're only trying to relate the tripped out feeling you get when observing how far you've come; but in reality, these celebratory anniversary summations are not labels of traversed territory. They only serve, it seems, a negative-orient of mood disposition. And this escalates as we progress. It's not funny and it doesn't feel good. I don't think you should 'give into it' either. Please! :) I like hanging out with people as young as teenagers... Don't negate me with numbers as labels. Numbers are a privilege for this subsection of universe anyhow. Why they decided to plug that into something as pivotal as death: I have no idea except perhaps some kind of hierarchy for, again, something I don't really need - like your economy. Not to mention, but you can be more than one age at a time. And I'm driven to believe that age has more to do with an analytical, time-spectrum-ordered way of memory storage and recall than any particular order of "achievement" or "rank." You know the phonetic interpretation of language and how that works? Like you can theoretically be saying more than one thing at a time when you speak the correct words? Well, they say that aging is involved with something in genetic biology called, "Telomeres." Could it be phonetically translated to, "Tell 'em years..."?
I'm 62 until September and my cousin 65 has a Hippy Room with sterio, speakers and any album under the sun that you can think of. Even Uriah Heep...Awesome times.
1978 - 15 years old- -- friend and I smoked what he called " Black Hashish" -had this playing on a cheapy turn table that would come back and replay the record after it was done - me sitting on a recliner for what it seemed hours just having in my mind's eye all kinds of images ,colors and feeling every note from each instrument unable to move !!🙄🙄!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!
I love hearing stories like this. They really transport me to the time and place in my imagination. Thanks you for sharing. I remember when friends would come over for the first time, I would put on the movie "The Wall" and we'd get like a kite. haha, and the movie "heavy metal"..oh boy lol

The early discovery of this and all of Floyd's back catalog after my brother got me Dark Side for my 14th birthday in 77 left an indelible taste and feeling that returns ever so slightly still after all these years! Life is indeed a trip. When Floyd is the conductor, an unforgettable one! Peace!
@@trippyvortex Thank you! None, my soul was just blissful, there was complete delight, while the video lasted, I absorbed every note, every chord like a sponge, it was impossible to tear myself away from it, it was like a drug, and not only this particular video, but every a piece of music by Pink Floyd, you think, well, now the next one will be the same thing repeated, but no, each is a work of musical art, each is special, each has such an impact on the soul, it’s something incredible. And the musicians are such masters!...
I woke from a magical strange dream an hour ago. In the dream I was free and flying. In the dream I visited another futuristic world where life was beautiful and peace reigned. When I woke up I realised we are sort of living in a hell realm of pain and suffering and violence. Pink Floyd’s music belongs to the world of that strange beautiful dream. And makes this pain realm more liveable.
I'm 73, and feel very privileged, and lucky to have had the greatest soundtrack possible for my life as a young man. Pink Floyd was a huge part of it. When they released their albums, they always exceeded my expectations, The album covers, the music, the lyrics... the magic.
No album is just one song. Each album is a song in and of itself. Not the greatest hits album, A collection of great dance songs. No. The albums those songs came from, and the penultimate album, Division Bell. All are masterpieces which will certainly stand the test of time.
Im 79yrs young and still missing Syd everyday, he was one of a kind, and was very tragic how it all ended for the great Syd, but im very happy the band moved forward with some of the greatest music ever recorded!!
Yes, very trippy visuals and the music is sublime.. Was this a Syd Barrett original composition? and did Roger Waters contribute to the lyrics? ZAwesome 🎵 song btw
The heart and soul that found this whilst young, who sat in the dark listening, smoking, thinking, that person still today, at seventy years of age, still exists. It's something in the music.
@@debbieprokop9401 Absolutely! I was 19 when Wish You Were Here came out. Sitting in a dark room with a friend(s) filling the air with the sweet smell of pot. Chillin to Floyd for hours. Still listen. Still smoke. Family, Love, Grandkids, Adventure. Amazing wife. A great life, with who knows what to come.

So my older brother RIP, and I are/were HUGE Pink Floyd fans. Raised our kids listening to Dark Side of The Moon in their cribs...so flash forward to the early 2000s and my niece is now an ER Nurse in Sacramento Calif. The get a notice of a life flight coming in from the Airport. Man on an airplane had a possible heart attack. They roll him into the ER and my niece says to him, How are you feeling Mr. Gilmour? He looks up and says to her,, How do you know who I am? She told him that her Father and her Uncle would spank her for not knowing him on sight!
Wow for real? And man, I lost my older brother in 2017. He was 27. He had 2 daughters whom I treasure dearly. A terrible, yet profound life altering event to have in common nonetheless. How much older was your bro?

Rationale for the discontinuation of Telling People How Old You Are
(and why it's not fair to you, your family, or your innocent friends)
I think you should stop telling people how old you are.
And I'm driven to believe that age has more to do with an analytical, time-spectrum-ordered way of memory storage and recall than any particular order of "achievement" or "rank."
You know the phonetic interpretation of language and how that works? Like you can theoretically be saying more than one thing at a time when you speak the correct words? Well, they say that aging is involved with something in genetic biology called, "Telomeres." Could it be phonetically translated to, "Tell 'em years..."?
I'm 62 until September and my cousin 65 has a Hippy Room with sterio, speakers and any album under the sun that you can think of. Even Uriah Heep...Awesome times.

1978 - 15 years old- -- friend and I smoked what he called " Black Hashish" -had this playing on a cheapy turn table that would come back and replay the record after it was done - me sitting on a recliner for what it seemed hours just having in my mind's eye all kinds of images ,colors and feeling every note from each instrument unable to move !!🙄🙄!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣!!

...and I am you and what I see is me. No, really! Same age, same experience! Maybe not the hash but hopefully it was some decent mekky! Stoned none the less. But yeah. The early discovery of this and all of Floyd's back catalog after my brother got me Dark Side for my 14th birthday in 77 left an indelible taste and feeling that returns ever so slightly still after all these years!
Life is indeed a trip. When Floyd is the conductor, an unforgettable one!
Peace!
Same age, same experiences many, many times. Of all the places in time I would go there right now.
These class sounds make me feel young again every song has a meaning may the Floyd go on forever
YES! I Feel This Too! Old Age is Here for me as well...😐

What were your thoughts on the video?
Like a life raft in an ocean of bad craziness, don't let go of the dream. Peace be on you amigo.

Good old days; I miss my youth...
Me too, me too..I’m getting real old & I just want to go back ..
