Born: May 8, 1895, El Paso, IL
Died: December 9, 1979 (age 84 years), Upper East Side, New York, NY. Archbishop Fulton John Sheen, born Peter John Sheen was an American archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church, best known for his popularly televised and syndicated television program, Life is Worth Living, is held today as one of Catholicism’s most widely recognized figures of the twentieth century.
The Vatican recently declared as venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheet (1895-1979), meaning he is on the path to canonization. He would be the first American-born male saint. Bishop Robert Barron, author and producer of the Catholicism film series, called Archbishop Sheen the “patron saint of media and evangelization.”
