I’m super surprised the 2018 S550 Shelby 1000 even showed up in this video. Insanely underrated that there is not one picture of it with a owner. Or a video of it even moving. It has over 1000 horsepower and weighs 3,800 pounds. It has a Supercharged Voodoo engine specifically designed and modified carefully by shelby for this car. It can achieve a low 9 seconds in the quarter mile. And 0-60 happens in 2.6-2.3 seconds on a prepped surface.
3:50 The smart ones remembered the original GT40 - and didn't even THINK about laughing after Ford whooped the likes of Ferarri and other Europeans at their own game, LeMans. And by the way - the GT40 COULD take a corner, despite it's All American Big Muscle.
Kinda surprised you didn't include the Buick Special. That car had around 550hp and was produced in 1962. Crazy specs for the time and by a manufacturer that I didn't think made very fast cars lol
I once read about a Cobra replica in the UK that sported 1100hp. The owner and the village church came to an agreement. He wouldn’t start her up during Sunday morning service, and they wouldn’t call the Vatican. Me, I wouldn’t sit in it while parked… I’d call it Smaug and run away. Really, for a roadcar to be fun, 300hp should be adequate. Anything above is just silly. We’re not racing drivers, and even Schumi made do with ‘just a family car’. Norris has a Mini Moke fcol. While racing you want it all. On public roads, maybe not?
Not only is the Mustang GTD a modern muscle car for the track but also the racing version of it the Mustang GT3 that has a 5.2L N/A V8 has to be the best sounding naturally aspirated V8 American racecar and also shows true muscle car power on the track

At 5:41 The nose on the Superbird and Daytona helped the aerodynamics a lot but would have been a failed attempt if Chrysler hadn't taken the concave back glass and made it flush with the body, like the Carger 500.. And the flush rear glass let the air flow around and over the car more smoothly to utilize the rear spoiler ( wing ) Take care and have a good one 🙂
