  • Welcome back, friends and fans, to our second episode of the Tips & Tricks from the Tucker Team series! This week we'll be exploring how to use partial seams successfully. Our demonstration piece is simple Split Rects block, which uses a partial seam to make for the offset layout of the block.
Several of my patterns use the partial seam technique in their construction: Twister, Spinning Pinwheels, Sea Glass, and Northern Neighbours. However, if making a whole quilt is too much, you can practice using this technique with a number of our free BlockBuster downloads: #14 - Shuriken, #16 - Peaks & Valleys, #27 - Roll The Dice, #29 - Poinsettia, and more!
As always, thanks for watching, and I hope you'll tune in next week for a new technique to help you become a perfect piecer!

I loved this. I had just told my quilting buddy not to even talk to me about partial seams. I am now going to give it a try. Thank you.

Thanks Deb, it is really hard to understand the whole partial seam thing *unless* you see a visual demonstration. Yours is great!

    Hi Deb,
Thanks for the video. I loved how easily you explained partial seams. It was a bonus to see the split rectangle block used in so many examples. You gave me many good ideas. See you next Thursday!

I really enjoy partial seams! They make for interesting blocks. I wish there were more patterns that used them. Thanks, Deb!

Glad you like them! If you're looking for more opportunities to use the Partial Seams technique, make sure you check out my BlockBuster series! I noted several in the video, but there are a bunch of blocks available as free downloads that do make use of the Partial Seam technique 💜deb-tuckers-studio-180-design.myshopify.com/blogs/news/tagged/blockbusters

Hi Deb. Happy Mother's Day! I have been really enjoying your Tips and Tricks videos so thank you for those. I have an unrelated question. I noticed your long armed light beside your sewing machine and think that it is fabulous and am so jealous! I was wondering who manufactured it and where you purchased it. I have seen a similar version that clamped onto the table but my table has a skirt or apron around it and the clamps wouldn't work for me. I hope I can use the one you have. Thanks for your help.

I can't say that I know of any shops in Belgium that carry my tools off the top of my head, but you recommend that your local shop carry them! All my products are available wholesale from Checkers, so they're available for shops to order world wide 👍
