- It's a kite tail! It's a cat toy! No, it's one of my favorite processes for speeding up your construction process; Chain Piecing!
This is a phenomenal technique that will be a tremendous benefit to anyone who uses a sewing machine for piecing. I use it literally every time I'm making a project! Chain piecing is a technique that will add both accuracy and efficiency to your piecing process. And in this week's Tips & Tricks episode, not only will I be walking you through how to chain piece successfully, I'll also be sharing some of my other favorite piecing tips (using a leader and an ender, guiding your pieces with a seam ripper, etc).

I love your tips and tricks! They are so helpful!
Learned something new ! I always started with the seam allowance facing down so it didn’t get caught in the foot now I know better !! Thank you !!!! For better nesting seams !!!!!
Glad the video gave you some insightful knowledge to implement in your sewing practice 💜
Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design - me too .. thank you for your great tips!
Your tips on nesting are spot on! Also, the first thing I noticed in this video was your little rug on the floor behind you. It reminds me of some of your quilt patterns! Thanks for all you show us!
Thank you! I find that I'm looking forward to these each week!
I have done this (4:10) and amazed at my matching seams!
Wow!! You have just solved all my tangled thread problems. Thank you Deb, you are awesome.
Happy to help!
Thank you for making these videos!
Thank you Deb!
You are so welcome!
I was taught chain sewing from the start and have done it since then. Great tip!!! Can you comment on that really cool light you have at your machine? I would love to have something like that. See you next week!!
That is the Slimline 3 from the Daylight Company. I can't sew without it any more. Here is a link to the light. daylightcompany.com/us/slimline-3-table-lamp/
Thanks
Welcome!
Excellent teaching as always. What table are you using to sew? TIA
I love Bernina machines. Which Bernina are you using in your chain piecing tips video?
Thanks for watching!
When you are stitching an intersection like the four patch, there is always one seam allowance that is pressed towards the needle. You want that seam allowance to be on the top piece. Why doesn't the technique work when the "towards the needle" seam allowance is on the bottom fabric? How does a walking foot affect this technique?
