Thank you so much for creating such practical tools. I used to dread trimming up HSTs all the time. I recently purchased your trimmer ruler and it is truly a game changer. I no longer dread squaring up my HSTs. Thanks a bunch!
Doreen was a legend! I do have a couple of her books. Recently I was using your V Block tool, making 4 small blocks, then twirling those blocks into a larger block. Still on my design wall, but lots of possibilities!
The V block is one of my favorite blocks, and of course I have your tool. And while two V Blocks make a diamond rectangle, I highly recommend your Diamond Recs ruler. Why make two blocks when you can make one (presuming that it is not a design choice to have different fabric together)? I actually saw a maker put two split rectangles together (two fabrics, so not a design choice). Now a split rectangle is the least common denominator among these blocks. I have all three of your tools; I always recommend them; and they are well used.
Just like the common names of plants, confusion reigns. There should be a Latin name applied to common block units to eliminate the confusion. Ha ha ha! Just kidding!!! Great video Deb, so glad these Tips and tricks videos are back.
I’m hoping that you will have a booth at the 2024 AQS Show j. Lancaster, PA next year! I so miss seeing all yiur tools, patterns, etc. in person so 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 fingers crossed😄
Yes, one of our Certified Instructors is registered to be vending there. So you will be able to get our tools from her. If you are registered for our newsletter we always list what shows Certified Instructors will be vending at the end when we have the Information.
I use pellon SF101 (shape flex)....instead of paper having to be torn out.🥴 Also, shape flex can be used to use in "summer" quilts that you are not using batting in. You can draw on shape flex 101, and there is a light adhesive side activated with a heated iron....but the block remains flexible, not stiff.
I've used this tool to make the quilts on the upper right and left. The accuracy is amazing!! What is the pattern on the lower left with the black and white four patches?
I am not 100% sure which pattern you are looking at. The two on the bottom are Galaxy and Doubly Charmed. Both are on our website. if this isn't from the opening please let me know the time stamp so I can look at it and let you know what pattern it is.
I used your V-block tool to make a 54-40 or Fight quilt for a veteran. I had some trouble getting things perfect, but maybe I was too aggressive with my pressing
Yes, sometimes the shape can bow if you are too aggressive with the pressing as they are long bias edges. You can fix that with some more pressing just press them back in using a bit of steam just like the fix in the Flying Geese tips and tricks video called Tryly Perfect Flying Geese.
You can, you would just sew them together so that the large triagnles form a diamond. If you don't what the seam you should investigate our Diamond Rects tool as it makes this shape with no seam down the middle.
So good to see you again and hear your teaching ! I've missed you.
good to see u back instructing and encouraging all of us out here.✔
It is so nice to see you and your tutorials once again. I have missed you!!!!! Thank you for another great one!!! Looking forward to the next.

I am scouting your rulers at my LQS. Currently using the Wing Clipper for large flying geese!

I from Costa Rica I am new in this I want to learn
I am wondering if I can use the V-block trimmer to make a diamond in a rectangle ( like 2 of the V Blocks butted together)?
You can, you would just sew them together so that the large triagnles form a diamond. If you don't what the seam you should investigate our Diamond Rects tool as it makes this shape with no seam down the middle.
