I think that the C8 Pisces is a very underrated ship. Especially when you like courier missions, bunkers etc ... Low price (406K aUEC), good starting components, small size for easy parking near the mission objective. It is ideal "first and a half" ship. And then you can buy Carrack if you want :)
As someone who threw an embarrassing amount of money at Star Citizen on the second day of the Kickstarter campaign, I can fully attest that everything in this video is completely agreeable from the perspective of a super fan.
I started with Aurora and after 2 weeks (yesterday), I upgraded my starter pack to the titan. I'm glad I flew the Aurora first because it taught me so much! And it made me really appreciate the Titan which is perfect in my eyes right now.
@@ZagDadz click on ship upgrade tab instead of standalone ship tab. It will allow you to choose a ship you want to upgrade and select a slightly more expensive ship. Due note, that Life Time Insurance ships won't give you the lifetime insurance unless you buy the standalone instead of upgrades. But you probably don't have to worry about that
Titan-Nomad-Cutlass Black is a wonderful multi purpose upgrade path. Like combat? Arrow-Gladius. I think the Hull A and the RAFT will be up here when cargo refactor comes out
Honestly, I'd probably skip the Nomad until selling ships is a thing. It's a great ship, but the Cutlass will be better and it's not that much more expensive.
The Max is a way better cargo ship, IMO. The raft is very sluggish and has poor defenses in comparison. I'll have to see what the advantage of the exterior cargo containers on the raft is going to be to see but the overall cargo is currently less than the MAX.
@@Jlarsson-JL Yeeeaaaahhhhh, but the Raft has a cool kitchen and looks badass. But yeah, it's a huge ship for how much it hauls. It's sort of like an elephant with a fanny pack.
@@caseytwill Raft looks right, for those who enjoy RP aspects. I’ve always liked the appeal of the space trucker gameplay. So my goto for hauling refined minerals after my mining ores are processed… likely the Raft. Will rent & test drive to compare all options before investing the mills.
@@michealnelsonauthor I love the Raft, one of my favorite ships in game, but I think it looked more balanced in the concept art which showed it carrying 5 cargo containers. Will it always only be able to carry 3 cargo containers? Don't know... we have yet to see how its unique properties will fit in gameplay wise. We'll see!
The Nomad only has 3 size 3 hardpoints, no size 4 hardpoints. The Titan therefore actually outguns it. That said, it is otherwise a superior ship and easily, easily my favorite ship in the verse when playing solo. I always say that it's called the Nomad for a reason: it packs every single thing you need when you're alone with a third shield to keep it all a little bit safer.
Post wipe I grabbed the Nomad as the second ship. I use it to haul my ROC around. It just seems more nimble and the ROC is easier for me to load into it (you do have to back it in, but that is no problem). The Cutlass Black works, but the cleance seems to be inches on either side so I often have a bit of trouble getting the ROC into it.
I upgraded to the titan but never upgraded the ships parts so I was underwhelmed by performance in combat. Overall I liked it a lot. I had it way early can crashed it alot.
I like the Freelancer because it feels like a space borne "van life" RV. For me, it comes closest to the nomadic RV lifestyle that my wife and I are just getting into.
Cutlass Black: "no toilet though, You'll have have to figure that out on your own. This is a very popular so ship, especially among pirates..." Yeah, coz pirates have figured out THE POOP DECK.
Great video! I had a Feelancer & I upgraded it to a Constellation Taurus. 174 scu of blessed cargo space, room for a ROC & Ursa, a MUCH better cockpit & massively better view from said cockpit, more beds for players to use, an actual restroom, a turret & tractor beam (which will hopefully be usable in 3.18) and even a secret non-scannable cargo section for runs with "valuable" cargo. All for not much more in cost. In my mind, it's a no-brainer. The Connie also rocks 4 size 5 hard points that come default with gimballed size 4 guns & 24 size 2 missiles, so you can protect whatever cargo you have or even do bounty hunting with her. It's an amazing all-around ship with massive cargo space.
Started a few years ago with an Aurora, pledged the 325a (still in Hangar), upgraded my Aurora for a ROC. Accidentally melted my Starter Pack (ROC) to pledge a Prospector (still in Hangar), bought a new Starter Pack to play the game again (Mustang Alpha) haha, upgraded it to an Avenger Titan, upgraded to an Reliant Tana (but it is too buggy, upgraded to a Cutlass Black and now I'm happy.
I got the Titan as my pledge ship. If you didn't, I definitely recommend you buy one as soon as possible. I LOVE that ship. As far as next, when I first started playing, the Cutty Black was my first in-game purchase, and it turned out to be a great choice, but then, the Nomad didn't exist back then, and that was my first purchase after this latest wipe. ROC mining was the main reason for both of those purchases.
Titan is a great little ship. The one caveat I discovered to this ship was that every time I have gone to 'claim' it, it's been instant with expedite. The only other ship I know of that can do that is the Pisces. I'm starting to wonder if the Titan could be called at a vehicle spawn the way the Pisces can. But that instant retrieval is extremely handy, especially after coming out of prison and needing a taxi back to where you want to be.
My recommendation is first ship should be a generalist as you learn the game. I recommend the Titan base model. It’s good enough in low to mid level bounties, great for bunkers and package running, easy to get out of atmosphere and generally very easy to fly, has a bed and internal storage. Second ship should be more focused for a profession. Hurricanes are great for bounty hunting especially with a crew mate. Prospector for mining. Freelancer for trading.
Started with a C8X, then upgraded to a Titan for the bed and bigger sized area for a small vehicle, then finally upgraded to a Cutlass Black because it can actually fit vehicles that are useful. Cutlass Black is the real starter ship to have. Then progress to specialized ships; fighters, haulers, miners, etc. To match your play stye preferences.
Great video. I am a diehard fan of the Max. I own one and fly it everyday, even over my MSR. But i have to admit. You just made me go buy a Nomad. Never really looked at that ship till now. Thank you and keep up the good work. Fly free. Fly far.
Once again, great quality in your production. I rarely use these ships anymore but love the nostalgia of hopping in the freelancer and doing a little cargo. Keep up the good work Tomato.
As you said, you can't put every ship in here that costs ~2Mil, but the Vanguard Sentinel should still be on this list imo. It stays to be the best PvE Bounty Hunting ship, for various reasons: * 4x Size 2 Hardpoints at the nose, with dmg-values closer to Size 3 * 1x Size 5 Hardpoint, which can now be slottet with the "AD5B" Ballistic Gatling - I'm not a fan of ballistics, but it has 2.6k rounds of ammo * Size 2 Manned Turret for even more Pew-Pew * 2x Size 2 Shields + 42k Hull, with Nose+Body having as much Hull as a whole Gladius * Size 2 QT Drive, aka fastest Travel Speed with the "XL-1" Quantum * An EMP-Generator which still can shut down various dangerous ships like my namesake, the Hurricane * Literally no needed "limbs" (Tail-Fins/Wings) that can be shot off, resulting in loosing weapons or maneuvering. (Loosing one of the engines can happen, which is pretty much game over. But then again, if you loose that, other ships would've been destroyed already, twice) The only downside for me with this ship is it's color, which is a cheap ripoff of the Blue Angels imo. But since i'm in the cockpit mostly, i can live with that. Note: Some wording here may be very close to WingZeroType's description of the Vanguard in his videos. So if someone is interested in that ship and it's capabilities, watch those.
My progression before the wipe was: Starter > Cutty Black/ROC > Prospector, once i got the prospector I was able to make enough money to buy pretty much whatever I wanted except the 890j/Carrack. I think I went with the Caterpillar last time
+1 for the Cutlass Black. Was my second ship and used it forever running bunker missions, doing bounty hunter missions, illegal monitors, you name it. The weaponry for how small and manouverable it is really makes it a game-changer. I had a lot more fun in this game once I upgraded from the Aurora to the Cutlass Black
You've missed the biggest selling point for the Nomad... The ROC. You can still make a ton of money with that and the fast loading / unloading on the Nomad is a big plus.
I've got a Nomad as a starter just for a possibility of roc mining. But then i discovered that for example doing a cave mission and collecting gems from defeated npcs on the way is kinda more profitable and fun. Mining quant is also more fun to me. So i kinda stuck now. I'd CCU to Cutty, but i like Nomad so much so doubting :D
Agree with all as first ships... I would recommend the 600i for the second ship because it has the highest solo DPS, good storage, will be able to transport a nova tank, will have a med bay for respawning, one of the best looking ships with the sterling paint, and a redesigned interior coming that will make it a perfect solo mobile home... 🙂
Definitely the Cutlass Black. One of my favourite ships even though I own even better ones. The Nomad is a great ship too but its biggest con is that its priced too closely to the Cutlass, esp in the pledge store. In-game its not so bad but I would still suggest save a little longer for the extra 400k to get a Cutlass rather than spend 952 to get the Nomad. Cutlass can do everything the Nomad can and more. It's just not as agile. I'm looking forward to when they get Multi-crew to the point where the co pilots can actually do useful things and with the proper interface, then that 2nd seat in the Cutlass will be more useful
I have both the Nomad and the Cutlass Black, but I always go back to the Nomad for day-to-day use. For me the key thing is being able to leave the ramp down when I use a vehicle; if you leave the cargo ramp open on a Cutlass someone can steal it (because people are assholes). The Cutlass I'll use for interplanetary transport or other special occasions.
The Cutlass Black was my starter ship when I started 2 months ago and she was an amazing ship. Good at just about everything and beyond average in every area, especially with upgrades. I loved that ship.
Got a Mustang, had some fun … then melted my WHOLE package when I could get an Avenger Titan with 10 years’ insurance at the Invictus and then got a stand alone Freelancer Max (as a CCU from the HoverQuad) as my second ship, with LTI. I had to get the black paint as I’m not a fan of the ‘Finding Nemo’ paint job that comes stock with the Max. This is all that I want for my ‘fleet’ … maybe I could get a Vulture in-game after all the wipes have done their thing, but I really like the idea of having ONE main ship, with all its limitations, as my ‘Millennium Falcon’ and also having something like an Avenger as a back-up, then grinding for the rest. If you pledge for everything, then what’s the point of working your way through the ’verse?
Excellent choices! Thank you! I'm pushing 3 years in CS and have had or used almost all ships. I still buy in-game and use the Titan on a regular basis! It is a great ship that is very versatile. I used it for bunker missions for its easy access. Needs a little love, but still worth it. I have a Black that I purchased cash money. I use it often. It is in a great place right now for play-ability and can be used for many different roles. Can't go wrong. The Nomad and Freelancers you mentioned are also very versatile, but have some limitations that many find...annoying. One that is REALLY cheap and very handy that you didn't mention is the C8X Pieces. At 406k, it is cheap! Super handy for bunkers, box missions and other run-around missions. It is also pretty tough with 4 S1 guns.
Depends on what you want to do. Bounty hunting - Gladius or Arrow. I upgraded to Gladius (Updated pledge from Titan) and can do ERT's although takes alot of time to take down the Hammerhead. Titan was great up to HRT. Not agile enough, weapon loudout (2 panthers 1 Rhino or AD4B) is sufficient but the ship can be brittle and shields are too weak for the lack of agility. Jump in a gladius or arrow and then tell me that the Titan agile. Bounty, Delivery missions, Mining - The Cutty Black for versatility with 4 Panthers and 48(Yes I roll with 48 S1's highest damage btw S1 and 2 Torps) Arrow S1 torps......Love firing missiles from distance and then fly in and lighting them up with the panthers. I found my Cutty Black was too brittle for ERT(I smash the smaller ships but Its a big target for the Hammerhead and lose a thruster and your screwed. My Gladius made it through with a few battle scars... it has great space for cargo (Not enough to make much running cargo but fits a Roc for planetary mining. Mining - Prospector sole purpose...weak all round if you get jumped and only good for space mining. I personally feel I make more money grinding ERTS, monitor missions and 890 Jump missions. Prospector planet mining on Daymar for hadanite with a mate running a Cutty and ROC is a great team job. ERT Bounties - Eclipse or Retaliator.... One shot ERT's is a great quick money earner... I have an Eclipse and love ERT and the Idris(240k) mission for making quick cash.... I prefer flight over ground missions but that's just me... Gladius gets my vote as only an extra 50 bucks AUD to upgrade (But no ability to do anything but Bounties etc) but I seriously love my Cutty so much purely for versatility.
I went with the Cutlass Black. Admittedly I haven't upgraded anything, added any guns, nothing. I'm still learning all the buttons in this game, lol. Such a great ship.
I've been playing since 3.7, and I have owned a Cutlass through either pledge or in-game for 95% of that time. It's the one ship that'll always be home. I actually just melted the Gladius I own for one. I missed that utility
The base Freelancer is the goldilocks ship. The 120 SCU of the max isn't enough for bulk hauling. The Constellation Taurus is a better value. The base Freelancer gets you enough SCU for low quantity high margin trading and 2 full Prospector hauls. 2x size 2 shields, gimballed weapons, good speed, best in class range and all utilities. It can haul a ROC or a MULE. And will be the largest ship able to use small jumps.
I'm confused what you mean about large ship able to do small jumps. I thought any ship that could warp could do a small warp but only the more powerful drives could do long warps. Does this also mean that the base model is better at jumping somehow than the max.
Started with aurora starter package and got bored of that ship real fast, so i upgraded my pledge to freelance max which also came with a hornet fighter so played with that and enjoyed it but i had insane levels of anxiety when hauling at max cargo due to players and game crashes from that bug that was plaguing servers for years. Decided it was too risky for my health and effort, upgraded my package again to the Argo mole with my friends group and also enjoyed it but my friends decided to stop playing so i was left alone with this ship. Decided to downgrade to the cutlass black as it was just me playing now, but i have found the right ship for me to start with at least, ROC mining was fun and the cutlass is pretty decent against PVE and defence.
Titan is my starter, and definitely recommend it. Replace the Gatling with the new size 4 AD4B Gatling, and 2 panther laser repeaters on the wings, she's ready for a fight.
@@airleclair rarely go to missiles with the titan. You get 2 size 2 ignite 2's on each side by default. Those are normally good enough against most fighter sized ships. I'll sometimes switch the racks out for just 1 size 3 viper 3 on each side if the target is a bigger medium sized ship.
I love my Nomad. Decent for cargo. Good quantum range, and it's homey. I play pretty casually, so I don't need anything fancy. I like to load up my ROC on the back and go mining while I listen to Art Bell's Midnight in the Desert show.
I also like the reliant kore or the anvil pisces. Less than a million, and they have instant reclaim times. The reliant tana is is a good missile boat. And can be dual crewed. With beds and a snack fridge
DO NOT SLEEP ON THE FREELANCER MIS. 4 gimbaled s3 guns are insane, it handles better than it should, and is about as tanky as most heavy fighters. Plus, the missiles and gimbals make it a pretty solid choice for newer players because they can help with aiming or dealing with nimble targets in PvE or low-tier pvp. Plus, all the missiles are the same size and type (with the stock loadout) so you don't have to worry about swapping through your missiles to match the situation. Throw in the fact that it has decent cargo, a manned turret, the missiles make a copilot actually useful, and the space for many kinds of ground vehicles, and it is a very good multirole ship to do everything with and is among the best medium combat ships, solo or with friends. An honourable mention that should go in this list if you are going to the low 2mil aUEC is the vanguard harbinger. For some reason, the sentinel and harbinger are priced in game WAY lower than the vanguard, and both of them are top tier for all ship combat with interior space for box missions and gear and living quarters for logging out.
The Freelancer MAX has a pretty strong forward thrust for a hauler and can fly very fast in atmosphere. This makes it a very useful multi-role ship for all activities that involve going from space to the surface of planets. The large cargo hold can easily fit an Ursa Rover and there will still be room left for smaller vehicles and external cargo crates. The ladder on the port side is near the cockpit and offers a fast and secure way to access the ship, as it closes automatically after use. Equipped with an XL-1 drive, the MAX is my favourite ship for bunker missions, rescue and transport beacons. I can get everywhere fast and if the beacons lead to a Comms Array or bunker, I launch either the Dragonfly or the Ursa from the cargo hold to get the job done. Another small thing that I really like about the MAX is that the landing gear has a very smooth suspension. Touching down feels like landing on a cushion.
Nomad is great. Avenger is better in combat but it doesn't have much of an interior. Cuttie B is a proper medium-tier ship, but it comes with a lot of drawbacks like claim time, maintenance costs and so on. Nomad truly is the most versatile singe-seater. Something like a comfortable RV strapped to a pickup truck. This little space toad is what I'll be solo exploring in, that's for sure.
I just upgraded my Titan to the Corsair Warbond, which came with a Buccaneer so having a light fighter to PVE early in 3.18 (with a massive ballistic gun) then the big cargo hauling explorer should be perfect for getting quick cash after the wipe.
I've been a backer since the Kickstarter and have... 13? ships in my Web Hangar, plus another 4-5 vehicles. I've been flying the Avenger Titan a lot in 3.17 since the wipe. It's a great little vehicle for bunkers, second only to the Pisces really. And I love it for the 890 jump missions. It packs enough of a punch to take out the Cuttys but is small enough to land in the hangar with enough wiggle room to use your S3 wing guns to clear the room before you even land. And with the Invictus paint, it is a really nice-looking ship.
4:50 the Nomad hardpoints are just the size-3's. not sure why you said "and two size-4's" unless you meant the bespoke missile bays, which are eight size-2 missiles. I love my Nomad, it was my first ship.
4:18 with phsycal cargo wouldnt it be a thing in the game to put something like a magnetic cargo lock cuz technically u would need something like that so the cargo doesnt fall out while flying, makin it harder to pick up and steal.
Freelancer DUR if you want long range, decent cargo and combat abilty. BUT all that fits for ground vehicles are ROC's, Mules and bikes. You can fly for what seems to be forever on the fuel.
I pledged the nomad but ended up upgrading it to the cutlass black almost entirely because i didnt like the pilots console. The buttons reminded me of the stickers on Buzz Lightyears arm thing and was kinda blurry to me. But the drake cutlass looked like a more flushed out cockpit
Who needs a toilet on the Cutlass when you have two perfectly functional side doors you can proudly display yourself from when nature calls? Brings a whole new meaning to "dropship" Or if you're feeling adventurous you can try a speedrun out the ramp before it closes!
I agree completely. So far i have an Arrow (pledge), Cutlass Black, Prospector (pledge), Freelancer Max and a valkyrie. Im going to be upgrading the arrow to the C. Black as it is only 25.00 more has cargo and great 2 man fighting ability. The only ship I can think of that I might recommend not on this list is the picies, because of it's small size for getting in and out of mission locations. Important note on the Prospector. It has no cargo room. If you upgrade to it you will need to buy a 2nd ship with cargo hauling before you can make money. Thus the Cutlass/prospector combo. I then opted for the Freelancer max for the 3x cargo space to haul my ore. The Cutlass will do everything you need to do ingame to a point though. Pick it up and get a Cyclone for 28k and you are off to the races.
I love love love my Cutlass Black. I think it looks bad ass and has so many uses! Like lugging around my ROC, cargo hauling, and even some simple combat!
Great info. I started with the Titan a couple months ago and upgraded to the Cutlass black. I have almost bought a Constellation Andromeda several times but think I'm going to get the Freelancer Max and a Prospector as I can see myself enjoying the commerce side of the game and spend a lot of time solo.
For me the most usefull ship is the mercury star runner. You can host data in the servers while storing either cargo or a ROC to do some mining. You can travel alone or with a couple of friends. It's an amazingly usefull ship.
My favourite multi-crew ship hands down is the Constellation Andromeda. She's tanky, has decent cargo capacity, has a crapton of missiles, has a lot of firepower, a neat little snubcraft and I might be biased because it was the ship that captured my heart for Star Citizen back in 2014. It is also one of the OG ships in the game. Yes its 3.5 million but I can save up that amount.
That's the ship that captured my heart back in 2014 as well. I remember seeing the commercials and seeing them use the personal elevator, then that bridge/cockpit and thinking, this is the ultimate in big ships! (I thought it was huge back then) I pledged and got the game immediately but my PC couldn't handle it until 2 months ago when I finally started playing. I own a pledged Connie Taurus now & she's my favorite ship by far. (although I play more often in my Carrack bc of the regen bed)
I found the cutty to be a fun ship,. cargo, ROC mining, transporting vehicles, troops, doing bounties and with a few tweaks can carry 24 missiles. it is a really nice ship. I would give a freelancer a look but the back turret stops it from loading many vehicles. but it an carry more cargo so its still very nice ship
Tomato, I agree with everything you presented. My starter ship was the Avenger and I still use it for a taxi at times. I own all of these. The Prospector and Freelancer Max go hand in hand and those were the next two I paid real money for. They were the keys to every other ship in the game. Even the 890 Jump. Beyond those I only spent real money on large ships like the Kraken, Orion and Hull E etc.
After buying the Drake cutter as my starter, the Avenger seems to be on par. So I would jump the Avenger Titan and go probably directly to the Cutlass.
Does any of the Cutlass variants have a bathroom? I heard something (long ago) about the cells of a Blue have a toilet (though how would you get back out)?
Really useful video thank you! Decided to for the Cutlass Black and a ROC - my next investment will likely be a fighter for doing bounties - any suggestions?
Hey boss, I can't find that video you gave reference to ion your page? how similar some ships look to others, I think you said before in this video... Be Safe please
I'm thinking of actually pledging up to the Prospector. It's most useful when you own it and can customize its modules and laser. The reason being that the time you really need a useful pledge ship is after any wipes, and with the Prospector - if you can stand the tedium of mining - you can earn half a million an hour, and then get into anything else your heart desires after a short while. Based on this thinking I decided to get the normal Freelancer as my starter, and no regrets. With four big gimbaled guns up front and enough missiles, it's pretty good in a fight (I run four size 3 missiles, and 16 Taskforce 1's), and 66 SCU is enough to earn maybe 20 grand per cargo run too. But, the Prospector might be the way to go for me, I'd have to add $30 to my current pledge. I may just go for that. Especially as there are two wipes upcoming, both 3.18 and 4 will almost certainly be wipes. I tried to like the Cutlass Black too, but... what kind of shitbox lacks a toilet? Granted it makes zero gameplay difference, but it offends me. Also, having to always run in and out of the cargo ramp in the back is some bullshit, at least the Freelancer has a pilot door and a ladder.
i have the feeling i will link this video to a lot of people on and off stream! i think the freelancer Dur is also good, you never need to think about QT fuele again.
Something left out that might be useful information for someone who doesent know, is that the prospector is a great starter for making money but unless you have a ship with a decent cargo scu grid like the cutlass blacks 42 scu or bigger, you will not be able to refine that ore to later haul to a trade center to sell, so you will make less than half from the mined ore than you would if you refined it and hauled it from a refinery to a trading place, a prospector holds 32 scu so if you want to haul one load you need something like a freelancer or cutlass black, or you can of course just sell the raw material for less, it is still a good way to make money at the start
I went: Titan Freelancer Sentinel Prospector I'm in the Sentinel 95% of the time. I strongly recommend renting a cargo and mining ship before you buy one, to see if you actually enjoy it.
MISC - bought & upgraded to MAX. Cutlass - bought & Upgraded to MIS Nomad - bought & upgraded to Vulture. Prospector - bought Titan - bought. DUR - the next one to buy :)
Will you also make a video for the next tier up as well!!!??? Loved this video! I have the black right now but looking to upgrade! Thanks for the Tomato Talk!
The freelancer is good for cargo, if you want to upgrade further with trading go with a Crusader C2 Hercules. It has a 624 SCu cargo (I think) so it's a good upgrade
8:16 as someone who prefers Mining, I agree that... at least in my opinion, ROC is a better for a prospecting (no pun intended) miner's "first steps", 'cause unlike the Prospector, failing with the ROC will only cause inconveniences. While with the Prospector, it can become dangerous. Or even lethal. (and that's not counting having Quantanium in it's hold)
To be honest, I don't remember how my Cutlass Black became the "Package" ship versus the Aurora (that pops off and on the terminal), versus my second ship, the Titan Renegade? ;-)
Ohhhh kayyy. I, for one, think the Cutty Black is NOT a bad looking ship. In fact, it's just my style (in the same way people tend to always site the A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" as "ugly". I thinks it looks wonderful!). Although having a Cutty myself, I don't recall seeing a kitchenette. Or.. am I to heat my Grazer eggs on the plasma coil heat shields as per the Drake owner's manual?
I agree with everything except for the Titan as the first choice. While the Titan is the best all-around starter, I'm not sure if it's worth buying it in-game as a second ship if you've already done that well with an Aurora or a Mustang. It might be worth just going for the Nomad, or even going to a Reliant Kore (with the 4 S2 slaved Toshima Turrets on the wings and the additional 2 S2 slots in the front). The Cutlass Black, Prospector, and Freelancer Max are all good options for a second ship depending on what you want to do, although there should be a light fighter included for the people who choose to dogfight.
Yep good guide, I got the aurora mx, its blue cause of the event time when I got it, its been fun, but now i think im getting a cutty black. I think with that and rent a roc, work up to buy a roc. then i can mine on daymar, or the hot planets cant remember but then work on a good combat ship, racer, hauler, etc etc. Need to find a good org though having a hard time figuring out how to find one, how to compare orgs, how many active what they do and all that. please anyone suggest how to do this?
a small error: the size 4 of the nomad arent weapons, these are missiles. Menaing gun-wise it loses to the titan that has one if its guns at a bigger size.
I personally thing if you start StarCitizen with a Mustang or Aurora you will forever be upgrading but if you start in a The Avenger Titan or better you will settle in early. I personally went from a Mustang to now welp.... I have a few ships but had I started with a Cutless Black or something I think its less likely I would have ever upgraded.
I always say to start with the Pisces. It isn't a combat ship, but you can do early bounties with it. It is an excellent box mission ship and great for FPS content with a rear ramp. Since you can summon it to small pads, it is your own rescue ship. All thank and it will let you carry 2 friends in jump seats. I'll never melt or CCU mine. But I agree, if you have the coin, starting with a Black is way more efficient.
Mustang --> Titan --> Gladius, cheap upgrades every once in a while, miss the utility of the titan sometimes though, but only £10 more for a cutty black
Genuine question… is there any suggestions to make the prospector any more of a fighter? Especially with the new stuff coming out that might be incentive for more pirate groups I want to be able to defend myself with something more than pea shooters and still use it to make money
No such plans for the Prospector. It does what it does well, that's mining. Eventually i guess you'd optimally be operating with several other Prospectors dropping bags for the refining ship and probably employ a small fighter escort.
What’s the best fighter that I can fit literally any ground vehicle in? Don’t care what vehicle it is as long as it is faster than running. The only thing I don’t like about my mustang alpha is having to run so far to bounty missions that ask me to land and go in somewhere.
As mentioned in the video the NOMAD can mount a small ground vehicle. While you 'can' stuff a Greycat buggy into a Titan ... it is not a good idea for daily driving. As well stuffing Hoverbikes in there does nothing to help your foot travel to the bunker .. turrets will shoot you. After that you are looking at the Cutlass Black or bigger.
Remember, all of these are purchaseable in-game!
So what's your first in-game upgrade?
Prospector. It's a licence to print money.
Prospector.
I think that the C8 Pisces is a very underrated ship. Especially when you like courier missions, bunkers etc ... Low price (406K aUEC), good starting components, small size for easy parking near the mission objective. It is ideal "first and a half" ship. And then you can buy Carrack if you want :)
Cutty black I loved that ship but I moved on to bigger thangs
@@redace3928 alright ya whipper-snapper. I'll bite. What you piloting now?
As someone who threw an embarrassing amount of money at Star Citizen on the second day of the Kickstarter campaign, I can fully attest that everything in this video is completely agreeable from the perspective of a super fan.
Same. All you need is a starter
@@rupert456 I started out with cutlass black. I don’t regret it.
Aye
I started with Aurora and after 2 weeks (yesterday), I upgraded my starter pack to the titan. I'm glad I flew the Aurora first because it taught me so much! And it made me really appreciate the Titan which is perfect in my eyes right now.
You can upgrade after initial purchase?? and only pay difference but lose the original ship?
@@ZagDadzyup!
The Cutlass Black and a Titan is a great combination imo. Gives you a great start to do most things
I have a number of ships but during free-flight I got to try the Titan. I miss it now. It is a great bunker-runner.
This is a very popular so ship, especially among pirates..."
Yeah, coz pirates have figured out THE POOP DECK.
Great video, I started with the 100i, moved into the Titan. And my next one will be the cutlass black.
Love my Nomad/ROC combo.
The presentation, organization, and thought you put into these discussions are peerless.
Also, if you're into mining, you probably still wanna get a hauler like freelancer max to transport and sell those quants
Fly free. Fly far.
Love my Nomad! o7
It stays to be the best PvE Bounty Hunting ship, for various reasons:
* 4x Size 2 Hardpoints at the nose, with dmg-values closer to Size 3
* 1x Size 5 Hardpoint, which can now be slottet with the "AD5B" Ballistic Gatling - I'm not a fan of ballistics, but it has 2.6k rounds of ammo
* Size 2 Manned Turret for even more Pew-Pew
* 2x Size 2 Shields + 42k Hull, with Nose+Body having as much Hull as a whole Gladius
* Size 2 QT Drive, aka fastest Travel Speed with the "XL-1" Quantum
* An EMP-Generator which still can shut down various dangerous ships like my namesake, the Hurricane
* Literally no needed "limbs" (Tail-Fins/Wings) that can be shot off, resulting in loosing weapons or maneuvering. (Loosing one of the engines can happen, which is pretty much game over. But then again, if you loose that, other ships would've been destroyed already, twice)
The only downside for me with this ship is it's color, which is a cheap ripoff of the Blue Angels imo. But since i'm in the cockpit mostly, i can live with that.
Note: Some wording here may be very close to WingZeroType's description of the Vanguard in his videos. So if someone is interested in that ship and it's capabilities, watch those.
I agree with all of this down to the color of the ship lol well said
My progression before the wipe was: Starter > Cutty Black/ROC > Prospector, once i got the prospector I was able to make enough money to buy pretty much whatever I wanted except the 890j/Carrack.
@@ranmark4408 Nomad is definitely a lot more fun to fly than cutty, that’s for sure.
I love drake ships but cutlass black not so much. Especially now that I know it does not have a toilet.
The Misc reliant Kore can be upgraded to 2000+ DPS which puts it way ahead of the Titan and any other starters for combat. That'd be my pick
Was litterally looking for an answer to this yesterday
What about missiles? Any recommend for those?
@@airleclair rarely go to missiles with the titan. You get 2 size 2 ignite 2's on each side by default. Those are normally good enough against most fighter sized ships. I'll sometimes switch the racks out for just 1 size 3 viper 3 on each side if the target is a bigger medium sized ship.
Its more money but I was able to get my hands on a Connie Andromeda and OMG DO I LOVE IT
I love my Nomad. Decent for cargo. Good quantum range, and it's homey. I play pretty casually, so I don't need anything fancy. I like to load up my ROC on the back and go mining while I listen to Art Bell's Midnight in the Desert show.
Great vid. Also, editing is top-notch!!!
I also like the reliant kore or the anvil pisces. Less than a million, and they have instant reclaim times. The reliant tana is is a good missile boat. And can be dual crewed. With beds and a snack fridge
I tend to save for the mining ship or for constellation. I have bought the cutlass black and red. Freelancer Max I bought last patch
I like to refer to UEC as SPESOS
I think you may have misread the hardpoints on the nomad? It just has the 3 size 3 hardpoints, the 2 s4 are non-swappable missile racks.
I'm good to go, Tomato, I Pledged with the Nomad. Received an Aurora somehow along the way, and received a Dragonfly as a referral1 1, 2, 3.
I'm a new player and am starting with a Titan. Next would be Cutlas + ROC for beginner mining, then add a Prospector. But I want a Constellation.
Great to hear. Love the Constellations for when I'm with a couple/few friends.
Constellation is a good choice i just wish it looked better on the inside, without having to resort to the luxury version of that ship.
Yes I'd like to see a more casual version of the Constellation Phoenix. I don't need all that luxury.
4:18 with phsycal cargo wouldnt it be a thing in the game to put something like a magnetic cargo lock cuz technically u would need something like that so the cargo doesnt fall out while flying, makin it harder to pick up and steal.
Started off with the Titan and recently got the Gladius and now working towards the Cutty Black.
I want my Corsair to drop 🤞 dying to fly the sucker. Also my pirate Cutlass 😁
You a Draker 🏴☠️
@@Lpd_n love my Drake's 🤷🏼♂️😆
Who needs a toilet on the Cutlass when you have two perfectly functional side doors you can proudly display yourself from when nature calls? Brings a whole new meaning to "dropship"
Or if you're feeling adventurous you can try a speedrun out the ramp before it closes!
Both the Cutlass Black and Connie can be rented at mining stations to haul refined quant until enough aUEC is earned to buy one in game.
This is exactly the same as me
For me the most usefull ship is the mercury star runner. You can host data in the servers while storing either cargo or a ROC to do some mining. You can travel alone or with a couple of friends. It's an amazingly usefull ship.
Great video!
I upgraded to the Cutty Black, super happy with it
Solid list, and congrats on hitting 35k subs!
I think there was an error on the Nomad, it has 3 size 3 hard points, but no additional 2 size 4s? or are you talking the 2 x 4 x 2 missile racks?
Sentinel
Sweet, as a noob these vids help so much!
got prospector + cutlass black & nomad. I prefer using the nomad with the ROC for mining
i have the feeling i will link this video to a lot of people on and off stream!
i think the freelancer Dur is also good, you never need to think about QT fuele again.
I've not had to even consider it just with a MAX.
You can also rent a black or freelancer for a delivery day, which would be minimal impact on your bottom line.
@@RecklessFables yea true, I always forget about renting
I have the 325a and i love it but I'm searching for something bigger but still a allrounder and daily ship. What can i upgrade to?
Can someone explain to me what ship flair is in the outfitting screen and how I would get some?
Can I put a mining buggy in the Titan?
I went:
Titan
Freelancer
Sentinel
Prospector
I'm in the Sentinel 95% of the time. I strongly recommend renting a cargo and mining ship before you buy one, to see if you actually enjoy it.
I was actually disabled by a npc vessel with tractor beam this weekend. And heard some other mention it as well.
An as always, thanks for the video ! great work !
MISC - bought & upgraded to MAX. Cutlass - bought & Upgraded to MIS
Nomad - bought & upgraded to Vulture. Prospector - bought
Titan - bought.
Used to have a max, miss it a little except the living space and those impractical bunk ladders!
Dude the nomad has been my sleeper fav for years. It with a cyclone aa ready for any mission
This video is near perfect. Thanks!
I love my Nomad. Great vid 👌
Titan + pester CIG for them to implement Org Hangars so you can use the big fleets that many orgs have available to their players :)
If I buy a ship with in game currency do I keep it after wipe? Or do I only keep ships that I buy with real money?
a small error: the size 4 of the nomad arent weapons, these are missiles.
As always, great stuff sir! Next do Best Large ships!
Imo the constellation andromeda, not classified as a fighter but it's a tank and can even do erts
