Amazing job.. did you wet sand the paint before clear coat. And did you cut and polish the clear after every coat or just leave it.

I did wet sand the paint, I wet sanded the clear coat after each coat then polished the final.

Very clean job. Well done. What clear did you use? I see that you only used duplicolor for prime and color or am I wrong ?

Super finish. How many cans of primer coat, base coat, top coat, and clear was needed for the entire bike? Clear coat would have been extra cans for this finish. Would have loved to see the process. Have an Indian, waiting for a new life!

Greg. I have a 02 gold wing 1800 and I want to paint the dash bezel around the speedometer the same color of my bike. Its dark gray now and I want to paint it pearl sunburst orange. Should I just scuff it up and paint it. Then clear or should I use primer. And wetsand in-between clears.

If your base coat/paint is in nice shape you can just scuff it, all you need to do is remove the existing shine, I would probably use 800-01000 grit to do that part. After that get it cleaned up and hit it with your paint. If you want a nice glossy finish I would probably do 2-3 coats of clear and wet sand them both then buff it when done.

@@CruizinWithTheCarsons should I wet sand clear with 2000 grit?

Is that clear coat going to hold up to gasoline? I'm getting ready to do a rattle can paint job on my motorcycle using DupliColor but I'm going to use spray Max 2K clear coat over the top

Excellent. Beautiful job. Research Spraymax 2 K clear. Two part clear in a can. Amazing product and protects like real automotive clear coat. I am not a salesman for the company just a fan of the product. Cheers and thanks for sharing the video.

that looks incredible , is the clear gas resistant ? i would love to know the process

Saw the comment and I have some info for you. I have painted many Harleys over the years and learned from experience. Most of the rattle can clears are not resistant to gasoline spills. Then I discovered Spraymax 2k clear. It has a built in canister of hardener that is activated by pushing a bottom on the bottom of the can. It mixes up and needs to be used up after activated. They sell it at Napa Auto in Canada. I have done many tanks with this method and it always turns out great. Hope this helps. Cheers.
